I understand this song came in first during a musical contest during World War II (Great Patriotic War). Hearing the song, I can understand why. Not well known in the USA, but great military music neither the less.
Nad stranoyu shumyat kak znamena Gody nashih Velikih Pobed. Otzvuk slavnyh boev otdalennyh, Ves tvoy put v nashih pesnyah vospet. Pripev: Nesokrushimaya i legendarnaya, V bojah poznavshaya radost pobed - Tebe lyubimaya, rodnaya armiya Shlyot nasha Rodina pesnyu - privet. Rodilas ty pod Znamenem alym V vosemnadtsatom groznom godu. Vseh vragov ty vsegda sokrushala, Pobedila fashistov ordu. Pripev. Nashej partii gordoe Znamja, Nas na podvig vedjot za soboy! Slovno solntse siyaet nad nami, Nad Velikoy Sovetskoy Stranoy. Pripev. (repeat verse 1 and Chorus)
If I remember correctly, isn't this a transliteration? Or maybe I'm wrong...probably am, but none the less, I think the subtitles are like they are so that way people who might wanna learn the song in Russian don't have to learn the Cyrillic Alphabet first. The Latin letters are all arranged to still be able to sound like the Cyrillic syllables.
***** If you want to learn Russian, you must learn Cyrillic. There is no other way. No matter what Latin transcription system you follow, it works poorly for Russian. Especially for beginners, who will be tempted to read the Latin letters of the transcription following the phonetic rules of their own native language, which yields the wrong sounds in Russian. On a lighter note, it is really irritating to read Russian in Latin letters, κινδ οφ λικε τρυινγ το ρεαδ Ενγλιση ιν Γρεεκ λεττερσ.
But the Russian language has its own alphabet, and that is Cyrillic, not Latin. So yes, it is misleading to say "Russian subtitles" and then give them in an unspecified and inexact transcription.
Špagin You are missing the point. Russian is written in Cyrillic, not Latin letters. So since it says the captions are in Russian, they should have used Cyrillic. BTW: anyone whose ability to read Cyrillic is that handicapped is not going to get anything out of Russian language captions in Latin letters anyway -- unless they get just more confused.
@Hissam Ullah actually the soviet came through support and will of the Afghan government. But the Sovists made a lot mistakes in that war. I still think it wasn't the reason USSR fell. Rather than an economic policy that started to favor profit over human needs since the 50's, treason within the party portrayed in the last 3 presidents and others in the party, and the creating of massive differences withins people's income.

Hey, what is this? The description says "Russian subtitles", but they are in Latin letters. Russian is in Cyrillic!

Not so invincible, lost in Afghanistan, the ameretard empire lost there too.
The Soviet Vietnam, and the ameretard second Vietnam, Afghanistan lives.
learn the story, Afghanistan was almost captured, but NATO said to leave Afghanistan, and Gorbachev wanted to be friends with NATO
