FINALLY! Manisha hit the nail on the head. I have been to her farm and completely agree with what she does but this specific topic of the economics of Permaculture has rarely been touched upon. And if anything is going to get the Indian farmer thinking about turning to Permaculture as a solution to the problems that are so obvious to us, it's the economics of Permaculture farming.

I too feel the same here In sikkim people people can cultivate just one crop a year or two in lower areas and the input cost (we don't use chemicals) ploughing and power cost more than the output we get so I felt these crop is not suitable for our region instead I intend to make culture of what we can grow here locally which is viable to us. I too am going for permaculture.@@farmaanandaa

Great initiative as a farmer always wellcome a new approach for farming . as farmer the challenges are very broader, abhi ek baat samjhna bahut jaruri hai ki farming ab primary source of income nhi hai Gao me bhi log business aur choti moti job bhi kar rahe hai farming me as primary source of income hai aise population bahut kam hi hai unhe isse apna pariwar ka bhi kharch chalana hota hai aur kheti ke kharch bhi karne hote hai government ka interference market prices per bahut jyada hai jisse lagat barabar bhi paise nhi kama pate.

I also believe that the scenario of bumper crop causing price fall below break even can and must be avoided by regulating markets- in this case government (with or without private sector) specify max volume procurement (including buffer stock reserve) and MSP (calculated fairly to enable farmer out of poverty, this calculation should be made public) ahead of planting and we should do that for all states. There is sufficient data available to compute the numbers with decent accuracy.
This brings everyone on same page and helps farmers diversify as needed.

Production and Productivity both are important. Only productivity is not useful.
You may be right. But with high production if you will still not get a good price in the market, then it is better to focus on productivity.

Ah! Thats a great question. In my upcoming videos I will talk about how to generate revenue from your land. Food is too cheaply priced in India (on purpose), and it is foolish to create a revenue model based purely on selling cheap grains and vegetables.
