  • In this video we adjust the spoiler position on our Range Rover L405. This is to solve the problem of the spoiler touching and scratching the D Pillars.

Thanks for this guys. I've just adjusted mine. The right hand side had cut a 'V' shaped groove in the C pillar.

I will add my thanks for this to those of the others. Just finished adjusting mine but I did have to adjust all 4 screw things with the lock nuts. Mine is a 2015 car and it looks very slightly different to yours but it's probably the same in the flesh. When I firstly adjusted the rear 2 adjusters, the spoiler didn't line up with the roof of the car but it wasn't difficult to tweak all 4. Now I am happy with it. Thanks. John

Hello, on this tailgate spoiler adjustment video do you need to adjust each side?

On some vehicles yes both sides will need an adjustment,

There's a lot more to just adjusting the spoiler. The upper tailgate should have a double clinch when closing.
Yours doesnt which mean the tailgate could of dropped on the hinge to body or hinge to tailgate. which is also a common condition.
I could do these with my eyes closed, I've done that many... Tailgate set and spoiler in an average 20 minutes.

You are correct in that our Tailgate has dropped - we need to do that job next - or should we have done it first !
Do we need to remove the spoiler to do this ? this will be our next video !

@@L663First thing to do is look and make sure the lower tailgate closes correctly unaided by yourself. The lower tailgate influences the upper tailgate set if it's not correct. So its important to make sure it's ok, otherwise all your hardwork on the upper tailgate could be undone.
Secondly, look at the spoiler if it's contacting the D post like in your video.
Then check the height of the tailgate to the qtr panels LH/RH.
If the tailgate is just low, on the height then it's hinge to body.
If the tailgate is low, significantly out board with a large gap to the qtr panel the tailgate has slipped from hinge to tailgate.
This fix will require the spoiler coming off and 2 nuts undone.
A big indication if the above is the case, is when you removed the hinge / spoiler adjustment cover with the fir tree clip, like in your video, that hole the clip goes into will be way way off centre to the hinge bracket hole.
A good pointer to check the alignment of your upper tailgate is on its own.
Open the lower tailgate first and then lower the upper tailgate.
By eye roughly align the upper tailgate to the qtr panel by height..
If you suspect the tailgate has dropped on the left, then align off the right and vice versa.
From this point you'll get an idea where to go.
Not all 2 tailgates are the same set.
      So bare that in mind.
Look forward to the video. 👍

If anyone out there who owns a Land Rover and feels there local dealership is incompetent in setting your tailgate.
Then I can provide this service.
I only travel in the Midlands, but you are more than welcome to come to me.
If you are looking to purchase a new Land Rover, and your concerned with quality issues, then I can provide a comprehensive interior / exterior Personal Pre-Delivery-Inspect (Personal PDI) at the dealership where your vehicle will be prior to your collection.
