Wow The NFL today was the greatest thing to me as kid born in the early 70's. My family and I was a huge huge football fan. He brain washed me and made me a Cowboy fan. My whole family were Cowboy fans. We all live in NYC but the Cowboys were my life. The NFL today was the greatest show on Sunday. It's ironic that the Cowboys Giants game they are showing was the very 1st game I was ever at. My uncle who had season tickets to the Giants toom me and my dad ( cowboy fans ) to the game. I was 8 years old. I literally cried when I saw the Cowboys come.out of the tunnel. It was one of the greatest times my young life. But to hear Brent Musburgher say YOU ARE LOOKING LIVE at 12:30 every sunday was my favorite part of every week. I was a football freak. I love these old youtube videos. It brings me back to my childhood.
That Giant Cowboy game was the 1st game I ever went to. It was a day after my birthday. My dad and I are huge huge Cowboy fans and my uncle who is a Giant fan took me for my birthday. One of the greatest memories of my life. They lost but whatever. To see my heroes in person was a life experience that ill never forget. Thank u uncle Tom for taking me.
If Neil Lomax went to any team other than the St. Louis Cardinals, he'd be in Canton right now. Sadly, he suffered a broken hip in a game in 89, and it ended his career.
T.Dorset was a beast. Over 100 yards at the half. Other than W.Payton he was the best back then and still a top five or ten Hall of fame back. The guy so replaced him wasn't bad either E.Smith.
I actually have this. Back in 1980 i bought a VCR, a Quasar cost about $1000.00. Taped football all the time and Halftime Hilites on the NFL Today was a favorite.
This is a good example during this halftime show Brent Musburger narrated the highlights then after that Irv cross has a special on some young players that might be entering the NFL. Nowadays it is all about somebody's personal opinion and all it's over analysis of all these games and what people think and what people think the coach you do and all this other total b*******. If they just stuck to the highlights and looked at research of the players coming in rather than all this narrative nonsense. I mean what is it, both Fox and CBS have like six guys in the studio analyzing all these games and giving their opinions I could give a rat's ass. !!!
made two pro bowls. His hip injury forced him into retirement. A better receiving core could've gotten himself some key playoff games and perhaps some hall of fame consideration, maybe. Gotta look at those other 3 prospects. I think that Don Washington was the only one that got a noticable amount of NFL games. USFL maybe for the other two, gotta look.
@@ryanstrnad8442 Lomax had two great receivers in JT Smith and Roy Green. Problem was they ran OJ Anderson into the ground and he was washed up with St Louis by 1985. No running game for Lomax
okay I don't get this, a few games were at halftime or in the 2nd quarter and one game was in the first quarter still.when were all these games starting?
Back then, home games were played at 1 local time. So the games in the 1st quarter during the half time show were likely started at 2pm est 1 PM central
Baltimore City had a law in place that no professional sports teams could start a game before 2:00PM on Sundays. So many Colt (and Oriole) games began at 2 or later.
@@howardcosell2022 I think BVP was done by’86 but it would’ve been nice to be part of the Giants rise after all that futility. I believe he won a ring with the Raiders

I always find it funny when people say the NFL was so much better back then. I’m sure some 80 year old guy says it was better in the 50’s than the 70’s. I think it’s just nostalgia talking. I’m 54 and I loved the NFL back then. Even though the rules have changed the level of competition is far better than yesterday’s game. The players are stronger and faster. And today’s game any team can rise and win a Super Bowl. It was always the same teams every year. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the NFL back then. But today’s game is still great.
Marcus Smith so true. Today’s players would dominate the guys from the 70s and 80s. These highlights are fun to watch, but there is no comparison in terms of quality of play.
pre-game shows were better as well.the overall nfl product was much better.today's nfl is just bet, with fantasy league stats and unlikable thugs.maybe if dallas ever got real good again my enthusiasm for the nfl would be greater.
Outside the popularity of the Dallas Cowboys, the NFC was the step child to the AFC and Walter was the most popular player in the conference after the retirement of Roger

I dig your memories...cool that you were at that game.
Dallas Cowboys awesome old blue uniforms, this was the last year they wore them.
I never quite warmed up to the current unis. But I did like the third unis from their 1990s dynasty.

That Lawrence Taylor kid from UNC seems like a good fit for the Giants.
I wish the cowboys were the old royal blue uniforms again

Clifford Chatman (2:29) was drafted by the NY Giants and only played in 6 games and rushed for only 80 yds and never played in the NFL again
the moment that sticks in my memory is when A sideline reporter said " back to the studio with Brunt Messburger"

"We haven't had this many highlights on the Giants in two years!" 😂
The 70s Giants in a nutshell
I miss the golden age of football (70's thru mid-90's). the game today just is not as entertaining as then - at least not to me.
Yes! I am now 54 and I remember all of it! Great era!
your not alone... todays is all about pure entertainment. i like it when football was left alone.

as a cowboy fan 70's early 80' were great. the f***** Packers sacking was an added bonus.lol

Brad Van Pelt, 5 Pro Bowls in a row for the Giants. RIP

I'm not knocking the player, but the network. CBS sure had some kind of fetish on Walter Payton.
He was a hell of a runner
Walter was exciting. When he did those high steps one knew something good was going to happen! I lived it so I know...
