Charlie Munger speaks at the Daily Journal's Annual Shareholders Meeting - 2/15/2023
I'd never be in the market if I sold off whenever I saw a youtube video screaming SELL OFF, yes stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do your math right, you should be just fine. Luxury brands like Dior, Louis Vuitton and Mercedes sales are booming lately, so I think there's enough money to go around if you know where to look.
without doubt, I've come to realize both bear and bull market provide opportunities to make high gains, I used to call bluff on folks that bragged about making a fortune from such down-markets until I happened to do so myself, made $750k in the past 9months and it still shocks me how ignorant I've been all these years. it all boils down to strategies and it's rightful application.
'Jane Irene Sawyer' is the asset-coach that guides me, she is quite known, so you can just search her info on the net and you'll see it.
I curiously just checked the portfolio-coach you use Jane Irene Sawyer, her resume is topnotch, exactly what I need to stay afloat this crazy times.
Maximum respect to Charlie!
❤ Long live Munger!!
Charlie and Warren. I don't own any of their funds and I don't agree with them not liking crypto but you have to respect that they are legends in the investment world.
The audio production issues were shameful and embarrassing.
IS IT REALLY WORTH INVESTING IN STOCKS AND SHARE? CRYPTO? S&P 500? I'M LOOKING TO INVEST BUT BEING PUT OFF BY THE STOCK MARKET. OR INVEST ELSE WHERE? I have a pension with work, i'm in my early 30s but have spare money approximately $53,000 that i want to invest what would you recommend?
in my view yes, you need to invest in something otherwise you lose to inflation. Also you need to think long term, hire a financial advisor to help you diversify your portfolio by including Mutual Funds, Etf's, the 11 GICS groups, inflation-indexed bonds, and stocks of companies with reliable cash flows rather than growth stocks, where prices were based on future prospective earnings.
@@shirleneunglesbee1423 That's correct,. At first, I wasn't too pleased with my gains compared to my previous performances, I was doing so poorly, I thought I needed to diversify into better assets, so I got in touch with an finamcial-advis0r. That same year, I pulled a net gain of $550k, which is about 10 times more than I average on.

With markets tumbling, inflation soaring, the Fed imposing large interest-rate hike, while treasury yields are rising rapidly-which means more red ink for portfolios this quarter. How can I profit from the current volatile market, I'm still at a crossroads deciding if to liquidate my $125k bond/stocck portfolio
The market is volatile at this time, hence i will suggest you get yourself a financial-advisor that can provide you with entry and exit points on the shares/ETF you focus on.

Munger and Buffett have both achieved an incredible feat with Berkshire. They've turned thousands to billions, and have made a lot of people wealthy in the process. I really saw the potential of the stock market by reading Berkshire's annual letters. I recently sold my $674k apartment in the Bel Air area and I'm hoping to throw it into the stock market. I just don't want to lose everything.
I agree with you. I started out with investing on my own, but I lost a lot of money. I was able to pull out about $200k after the 2020 crash. I invested the money using an analyst, and in seven months, I raked in almost $673,000

Headlines will focus on negative news, whether it's declining economic growth, geopolitical upheaval, cultural and legal turmoil, or some combination of all three. I listened to a podcast of someone that grew his reserve from $120k to almost $460k during this Red season, can you share tips on how to make such aggressive proceeds in short periods?
Especially during an inflationary period, investors should exercise caution when it comes to their exposure and new purchases. Only under the guidance of a qualified expert or reliable advisor are such large yields in this recession achievable.

The top 10 businesses from thirty years ago are no longer the top 10. Market leaders alter every 20 to 30 years. The SP500 takes in a wider market, pushes start-up stocks from the Russell, and NATURALLY (without liquidation or selling) establishes a stake on it over time, much as what occurred to Tesla. As long as you don't sell it, the SP500 would likely to be heavily weighted toward the best-performing equities, just like a typical portfolio. Apple makes up 7% of the index since it increased in value over time. The SP500 is a self-correcting portfolio. Facebook did go down, therefore its impact on the portfolio has decreased over time to the point that we no longer perceive it altering or having an impact. Following this principles, i have been able to amass over $800k worth of tesla shares.

@@Kankasin Yup! Just as he said "anyone who buys crypto is an idiot" and etc... Whatever they trash-talk, buy, whatever they push, sell.
Also, as far as inflation goes, inflation is the dollar's and US's least worry because much worse things are about to happen to both (but also partially because of said inflation itself).
The world is dedollarizing... soon the USD won't be the world's reserve currency anymore, and the US will default, won't be able to print money to fix it's economic downturns OR inflation, hyperinflation will begin, a rush to alternative assets and gold will begin (already has), and the US/western empire will officially be over, with the EU/NATO having the same exact situation... thus the world will shift towards Russia, China, India, UAE, etc... So if any of these rich old dudes are talking about how great investing like the past 50 years is going to be today or going forward, they either don't know what they are talking about or are, as you said, searching for exit liquidity.

A genius, but politically not well educated (like almost all americans)....When saying he is proud, that the US integrated US and Japan into its empire, instead of breaking it apart, he doesn't understand (or at least he doesn't say this, because there is no true freedom of speech in US obviously), that this has happend not because the US is such a generous and great country, BUT because the US wanted to use militaristic nations Germany and Japan, who are sitting on DIRECT periphery of Russia as military bases to project US power onto Russian soil (and now China and whole Eurasia as well). So....no.....I am not proud, that the US colonizes all of the world with green printed paper, called US-Dollar and bad quality products....a hegemony is always a dictatorship and will historically always fail. We see it in Ukraine, Israel.... it is just the beginning....luckily good old Charlie won't see all of the tragedies, that'll come on our world in the coming years, all because the Washington gang won't accept, that it cannot rule the world, that the world doesn't want to be ruled by the island nation of US. The downfall of the last anglo-saxon empire, the global Five-Eyes-Regime and so of the US as imperial metropolis will come and will be painful for the whole world.
Amazing man. He will be memorialized forever! Recognizes "Greatness is Good" Thank you Sir.
1:09:35 the 100th DAY of his life? Charlie wasn't even walking or talking back then.
Talks about leverage: 42:00

It's fascinating how he's talking about geniuses and remarkable people, while being as amazing as he is. I'm glad he is well, and hoping for many more years for him.
Charlie is a treasure, thank you for this interview.
Poor Charlie's Almanack is my next read. Can't believe I haven't gone through this one yet.
Charlie munger best, honest business & moral teacher in the world..

BABA is the worst mistake Munger has done ! I followed and got hammered 🙈😂
Metoo
I can't thank you enough for what Charlie Munger has taught over so many years. One of my favorite quotes this time is "Keep trying to improve all your life and you've got about half a chance, if you don't do it you've got no chance". Just wonderful!
"Opportunity comes to the prepared mind" I love this quote from him
Truth
I don't know how Becky controlled her laugh but I was dying when Charlie took shots on crypto 🤣🤣
I thought we see her do a spit take when he referred to event arbitrage as "Jewish Treasury Bills".😆 In all fairness, he was quoting Benjamin Graham who was the grandson of a Rabbi and whose real last name was Grossbaum.
She is used to him t-bag crypto on a yearly basis
It has now become very obvious there is a huge distinction between Bitcoin (as the legitimate and growing global store of value) and alts (all basically scams and/or unregistered securities). Each market cycle a bunch of innocent and naive newbies learn this lesson, which means each recovery cycle Bitcoin becomes stronger (of course again enviably accompanied by alt scammers preying on the new cycle of newbies into this space). Bitcoin is freedom for all of us. United with Bitcoin we stand. Diluted with shitcoins we fall!
“The young man knows the rules and the old man knows the exceptions”
"I'm hearing power lunch right now if anyone in the control room cares" says the absolute pro lip reading the old finance mummy. Amazing recovery.
Munger last DJ meeting
Rip 🕯️🕯️
amazing how what purports to be a major network canot manage audio so it is remotely not distracting echoes and garbage audio sounds like a zoom call when im walking under tunnels. sad nbc sucks.
53:05 Mark this spot and come back 5 years from now
RIP Munger. He stayed sharp till the end.
44:26. I regard alibaba one of the worst mistakes I even made.
Peanut brittle aficionado...nom nom nom
this guy is 99yo and still in the bizz!
Munger is almost 100 years old. 4 Month to go👣
Charlie has missed the boat on tesla. He can't win them all.
49:44 on TSMC was a great 4 minute section! Love Charlie's wisdom
What I was looking for thank you
Charlie, we love you!
I'm not kidding when I say that the market crash and high inflation have me really stressed out and worried about retirement. I've been in the red for a while now and although people say these crisis has it perks, I'm losing my mind but I get it Investing is a long-term game, so focus on the long run.
I can’t focus on the long run when I should be retiring in 3years, you see I’ve got good companies in my portfolio and a good amount invested, but my profit has been stalling, does it mean this recession/unstable market doesn’t provide any calculated risk opportunities to make profit?
@@ConradGosling -There are a lot of strategies to make tongue wetting profit especially in a down market, but such sophisticated trades can only be carried out by proper market experts
@@stevensmiddlemass2072 -I agree, my profit has been consistent no matter the market situation, I got into the market early 2019 and the constant downtrends and losses discouraged me so I sold off, got back in Dec 2020 this time with guidance from an investment adviser that was recommended by a popular economist on a subreddit, long story short, its been 2years now and I’ve gained over $850k following guidance from my investment adviser.
I think Becky is a treasure!
1:11:27 u r welcome
Eating Cookies and Doing Interview is a real trait of a Boss!
Charlie admit the mistakes investing in Baba. Did he sell all his baba holding? I followed hin bought baba 😅, has not yet sold my shares 😅
2:26:26 "What quality has helped you the most in life? "
Charlie's answer is : "Rationality."
Charlie calling it cryptoshit on live TV, over and over. Lol, what a boss.
Fantastic mindsets and he is 99 years 💪. A national treasure. Thank for all the wisdom Charlie.
How is it possible that one of the biggest media companies in the world can't set up a simple video call without so many interruptions? Something that any kid and their dog knows how to do. Disgraceful
1:27:45 most epic candy crunching
I love how Charlie is just eating at the beginning of the video, a true legend!
I think the best lesson to learn from munger is to unapologetically be yourself.
This guy is incredible… if most old people were like him we’d have an incredible civilisation.
99 years old and still wise and super Rich!
RIP guys in the control room after Becky gets her hands on them... I hope Charlie has many more years of this. He'll surely outlive whoever Becky was talking about when she said on air "sounds like they’re not hearing folks. I don’t know if anyone is in the control room or if you guys have any ideas about what’s happening."
The goat!
Go Charlie!! You are the best!!
Doesn’t sound like technology is going to take over anytime soon.
can anyone tell me what watch is mr. munger wearing?
Wasak buhay ko s traede nayan LAHAT Ng laho sa Buhay ko ngayon
Big-up to Becky Quick for her professionalism handling the TERRIBLE technical problems evident in this meeting.
She has my full permission to hit those responsible.
