  • This band reminds me of Nightwish! But they are great in their own way! What do you think?!

There is a lot of stuff to listen to for there are now 4 albums by them... I recommend " Winter is coming" or "Reincarnation" if you like to do a live one "Hallelujah (Live)"

This is probably one of their "softest" songs they have. Other great and relatively new songs are "Reincarnation", "Is there anybody out there" or "Winter is comming", all fantastic tracks. Basically, you can take whatever you want, they never disappoint.

"Where were these bands when I was in High School"
Ah ... well ... Nightwish, Epica, Lacuna Coil, Kamelot, Within Temptaion ... the list is endless
From the "newer" ones: Ad Infinitum, Beyond The Black, Vision Of Atlantis, The Warning (it's rock but it's worth the listening), The Halo Effect, Delain (as the renewed version), the list is smaller but still large. Problem with Music Business - they're focus so much on pop(ular) music. Metal is not being played in popular radio (whyever). That's why I (seldon) hear radio anymore. My UA-cam-channel (and the network of a few people) are giving me so much better music, than (it seems) any radio station is capable of.

How old are you and when were you in highschool ? This type of music is called "symphonic metal" and started to become quite popular in europe around 1996 with bands like "Nightwish" and "Within Temptation" first. Both are still goind strong today but there are also tons of others meanwhile.
So your main problem was mostly that you are maybe american ? And the US in general doesn't care a lot about the rest of the world, and also the music industry mostly just tries to sell you shitty pop and rap stuff instead "real" music. I mean have you for example ever heared of "Lana Lane" ? She was at least even american, but as far as i know had mostly just success in Japan.
But check out this for example :
    LANA LANE - Escher's Staircase (Live 2002)
    ua-cam.com/video/UCvJwxt-Mlw/v-deo.html
Lana Lane - Symphony of Angels ( Live in Japan )
    ua-cam.com/video/Cna_9_kbZbw/v-deo.html
thats already something that also went into the direction of symphonic metal. The studio versions are from 1996 btw.
