Quick tip: put a note echo after a simple beat (like this generates), play with the note transpose and delay until you get some kind of great polyrhythm! Try transpose +4 with 3/4, it will play the top 4 pads with a delay.

This is what makes Reason Studios special: imagining NEW WAYS to innovate with Players, which are the best out there. Quad Note Generator, Dual Arpeggio, Drum Sequencer and now Beat Map are simply brilliantly conceived and executed.
I'd like to see you guys aim that brilliance at building a Chord Track into Reason ala Tracktion Waveform, but "Reasonmagined" into something even easier to use to build, suggest, modify chord progressions, and integrating that functionality into the DAW.

Tried it last night for the first time. I only spent about 1 & a half hours just playing with it while halfway making a beat. I had just got off an 11 hour shift so I didn’t have much time.
My problem is being a perfectionist and always wanting to find the perfect fit for every single little thing possible ... and I’ve just finally succumbed to the fact that the possibilities are so infinitely endless that it’s best to just go with my first or second instinct !!! ... and just use all them extra possibilities for the next new beat 🤷🏽‍♂️

    • @clevelandboiohio492
      @clevelandboiohio492 4 роки тому +1

In other words ... issa 👍🏾👌🏾 from me. I loved it. I only used it on 1 beat so far. I made a 4 bar chord loop and put beatmap on top of rytmik drum machine.
Made a few adjustments with little effort while auditioning around the map. Locked in the kick snare and hat. And fell in love with how it came out with my chord loop.
Now that I’ve had some sleep. It’s time for me to get back to it !!!

To move the X/Y controller of Beat-Map: Put Beat Map and Pulsar LFO into an combinator. Flip the rack. Put Pulars LFO 1-out in the CV-1 ("Source CV IN"section) of to Combinator and Pulsar LFO 2-out into CV-2 of the combinatror. FLIP the rack. Go to EDIT of the combinator. Mark Beat Map in th list to enter it´s internal routing. In the soures of the right menu-list choose CV-1 and the target (to the rright) : X-Position. Same for CV-2 but with target: y-postiion. Now set the Pulsar to your liking. You should see the X/Y pad moving now ;). Happy experimenting. So much better with this workflow. There is also a video from Random Noise "Reason 12 Quick Tip - Easy Automation with Combinator" that show that kind of trick. Cheers Andy

I'm using ver 10.4 of your software and i have a question that i hope you or someone following you can answer. Every time i open up a project or template reason has to scan that folder before it can open them up. All folders in fact have to be scanned before they'll open. Template folders, refill folders, midi and wav folders, vst preset folders anything in a folder it has to scan before it will open it up. All of these folders have been scanned hundreds of times and most folders with the exception of my song folders have not been added to since i purchased the software. My work around thus far has been to open up any folders i think i may need to get into during that session and let it scan them all before i get started and leaving it open all day because if i exit out even momentarily i'll have to go thru this whole process again.. There have been times when i would be in the creative flow and open reason up to catch my ideas but by the time it was done scanning my song or templates folder the idea was gone. I've posted this query to your support line on several occasions as to a possible fix or is this just baked in but no one has answered back.

This thing is awesome! The one conundrum I'm having is settling on a few final layouts for those mirror hits. I'd like for the midi files it produces to be "plug and play" which is going to require hours of work standardizing a template that will work with most if not all of my VST's
It doesn't help that I'm trying to learn finger drumming which uses completely different layouts than the standard GM so I have my work cut out for me.
I'm happy to stick with audio stems for now, but I'd really love to build up a catalog of midi files I don't have to spend loads of time tweaking to get to sound as intended.

Can you think of a way to use Beat Map for fills, and bypass it otherwise? I'll experiment, but please reply if you can think of something.

Does anyone know if its possible to map the crosshairs on beatmap to a midi controller?

Cheers Andy

Does this work with odd time signatures?

Only thing is, there's no way to get the midi out, though the video would suggest using Ableton Live. Correct me if I'm wrong. Still a killer device.

James, Reason 11.2 updated both with this device added and MIDI Out support.

Beatmap is awesome. I managed to make a Busdriver type of drum loop in seconds! By the way, how do you copy the pattern to the sequencer in Logic? I still haven’t worked that out yet.

UltimateMoralizer Could export midi from Reason standalone and then bring it in. You could also try using the new “midi out” instrument and have the notes sending to a specific instruments Midi Channel in logic if you’re using the Reason Rack plugin. Then you could just hit record and it should record the notes it’s receiving from Drum Map.

Will there be a way to import "maps" in the future? Like vector drawings or something?

Would be cool if they at least release "map refills"...

My kind of gadget, but playng with it I can't get the x/y inputs to work on the back panel (say with an lfo plugged in) and also Learn Key seems to be inoperative. Yes, I've read that part of the manual ;)

Fantastic video / fantastic idea for a product / fantastic execution of that idea!!! :-) I'm a Reason Rack user with one quick question - - when I find a beat a like (with Beat Map and one of your drum instruments) - - can I now just drag that beat as a MIDI clip into my master DAW? Thanks - Pete Radd
