Thanks! We probably passed each other 😂 It was the first trip we planned around small tides, I wonder if the bigger tides help clean the weed out because it never really washed out at any part of the tide. I hope you got a few more fish than we did!
Down here in Gippsland area of Victoria….we suffer the wretched weed when the sea has warm currents and the sun sets off an “algal bloom” . What is really annoying is that it can hang around for days. Sometimes its not about the catching its the company and memories. I used to fish with Dad before he passed and later in life would take him away for a few days fishing on his birthday. Nowadays I fish with my brother and also grand kids.
The weed can make or break the fishing on Fraser. It's probably an algal bloom similar to what you describe, I've always found it interesting that we get very little weed along Stradbroke island compared to Fraser Island. Must be the local environment. Nothing better than fishing with family and friends to make memories 👌
We followed the same pattern as you Adam, wind was up first 3 days so a few trips over to Wuthumba Creek (Got some Tailor up around the point near the coffee Rock), then it was on at Ngkala Rocks and we cleaned up in the last days of the trip 9 -16 Sep-23. I finally got some new supports for my Swag you broke last trip Rolle ; )
Shit the lightest leader I use in north queensland is 40 lb and up here I would not be walking into the water not only because of crocs but the jelly fish. I used to walk out into the water when I was fishing for lizards on the passage side of Bribie Island but not no more being up here.
Hi Rigger! We take the lack of water hazards for granted down here. Other than the occasional blue bottle jelly fish we get off scott free. I've got a trip to North Queensland planned this year and those snapping handbags will keep me on my toes!
Great team work when you got bogged
Good one looked like a good trip regardless of fish numbers and weed👍👍👍👍👍
Absolutely Cam, the main thing is to have fun hey!
Thats fishing! I had a mate who was up there in August, he had the same weed problem.
Just missed ya was there from the 28th! The weed was still there and a pain but still better than bein at work. Great video mate keep ‘em up 🍻
