Sorry if I missed it, but what do you recommend for the hay and pellets raito that you should be feeding each day to adult healthy rabbits? Do they do better feeding 3X a day or 2X a day?
I have two rabbits now living in my house boat with me. I buy a bale of hay and keep it under the kitchen table. No problem. I didn't know to look out for weeds and things but that makes sense. My white red-eyed rabbit has stopped eating as much as usual. I isolated the rabbits and weighed the Pooh they made between midnight and 6 a.m.. my White Rabbit only food about 14.8 grams, and my healthy 4 lb rabbit pood 16.8. I believe the white rabbit it's going into stasis the Poo pellets were only about half sized, and last night there was even less. I've got Oxbow critical care and Shum simethicone baby gas drops. I'm hoping for the best. I live on a houseboat down in the Florida Keys and there's not a lot of exotic vets around. And they're very expensive. I've been giving them salad greens several times a day oh, but they both seem to eat a lot of hay. Why don't you just making less poo than the other and eating less. Two males maybe it's stress. But they both eat the same and they've been living together healthfully. I'm also giving one rabbit a little olive oil. 1 cc. Is there any science to back up giving a rabbit CBD oil for pain?
Hi Dr. Dawson. I am new to your channel. I adopted a rescue rabbit a week ago so I am enjoying your rabbit videos. Could you possibly do one on litter box set up? As far as best for their hocks.
I have a video about sore hocks in rabbits that goes over most of that stuff that can maybe hold you over for a little while, and I will work on another video on litter boxes in general!
Another great video, thanks Dr Dawson. Our buns have access to grass everyday and endless oat hay (Timothy hay is very expensive and hard to get where I live). Our rabbits love clover when they come across a patch of it in the garden. Is it OK to pick some for them to eat and, if so, should we limit it? We have lots of it growing in other areas of our property. Thanks!
so sorry this reply is so late, Oat hay is awesome! as well as fresh grass as long as they have consistent access to it. I am fine if they have a little clover, but I would limit it more as a treat.
Typically I don't get concerned unless there is coughing, sneezing or nasal discharge. But if you think it's abnormal, it definitely could be and should be seen by a vet
My rabbit have to much ear wax around middle ear it's looks like a pile in center and he shake his head to get relief . Any medicine or something for relief Please help 🙏
It may be more than just wax by his middle ear, I would definitely be concerned about a middle ear infection. I'd get a vet to look down to his ear drum if I were you!
Regarding the alfalfa hay, I’m currently feeding my 11 week old rabbit alfalfa mixed with Timothy hay ( although it’s obvious he prefers the alfalfa) because I read it’s good for baby rabbits. I didn’t hear you mention it being ok for babies. What is your opinion? Should I stop feeding him the alfalfa?
Very helpful thanks!
You're welcome!

My rabbit breaths loud when holding him as well as eating. Is that a issue

It definitely can be good for growing rabbits, I didn't spend too much time on it, because in general, healthy adult rabbits do better with grass hay!
