Baby Elephant Khanyisa Tackles Timisa as Jealousy Strikes!

- Meisiekind is struck by the green eyed monster as jealousy raises its ugly head and causes Khanyisa to fight with Timisa, usually her good friend and playmate. Khanyisa has been showing more and more jealousy towards Timisa in the presence of Adine especially, worried that she is no longer the apple of Adine’s eye perhaps. She wants to hold onto her spot as the baby and therefore most cared for elephant in the herd.
We have seen this jealousy with Pisa especially in the early days, towards both Timisa and Khanyisa. Pisa struggled to accept that she was no longer the baby of the herd and would fight with Timisa and Khanyisa as the two moved in and took more attention away from her. This is a natural part of growing up for both elephants and humans and quite fascinating to observe in the herd.
Khanyisa is protective over her food too and refuses to share with Timisa on this morning. Timisa keeps trying to get her trunk on a snack as Khanyisa eats her breakfast but Khanyisa is not having it! She seems to forget her smaller size and boisterously goes after Timisa to show her who’s boss!
Bulls Jabulani and Zindoga both move in to break it up and inspect the fight between the youngest elephants in the herd. When it’s time to head into the bush, Khanyisa is still at it, trying to head butt her poor friend… - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
I’m glad Timisa is patient with her bratty little sister. ❤
I love watching Khanyisa growing up. The stages she goes through, just like a human baby with siblings. Thank You to ALL the carers and to You Adine for all the love and attention You share the love of Your 4 footed babies💜💜
Blissful!
Poor Timisa. She can’t understand why the pink princess gets all the yummy snacks. I’m with her…
Yes poor Timisa! K is way too spoiled and this fight shouldn't have been let go so long! Adine spoils k so much it's sad. Yes k had a bad start but so did the others! Adine should have taken this to heart for timi! This is total bull! I understand that k needs extra but timi wants treats and attention from adine too but gets like a quick hi then is ignored. It's sad that adine won't give any of the other elephant's any attention like she does k. Very upsetting to see timi get one tiny little treat I guess so k can have more while out in the reserve
@@keyappaloosa7989 this may be a late comment, but we share the same sentiments. It's difficult to play favorites among these ellies, but I love Timi's personality more than Khanyisa in this video and in others where she bullied her older sister. I am glad though Khanyisa is showing more maturity now being Baby Phabeni's older sister. This may have just been a part of growing up.🙏🐘❤
I'm surprised Baby K. We know you're growing up, but you have to share your human mommy since she is the 1st mommy to the HERD. Timisa was very sweet with you, so be sweet back.
We love you. ❤🐘❤️🐘❤️🐘❤️
I love how she closes her eyes at bottle time!

I love how she crosses her hind legs. I've really enjoyed watching her grow up ❤❤❤. Thank you all for caring for the HERD❤❤❤. This is so cute
🐘❣I thought the baby pandas holding & drinking their bottles was the cutest thing ever, but Khanyisa may just be more adorable! Then she rests the sweet potato on her trunk while wagging her tail & crossing her legs- help I am having an adorableness overload! So sweet❣🐘...whoa, Khanyisa is being a cheeky toddler today. This is the first time I've seen her behave in this way. Timisa has some great tail movement, "Don't touch my tail!"
Yeah, that's the first time I've seen her eat one potato and rest another on her trunk. Adorable is right! She never ceases to amaze me😄🥰🤗💕
So cute.
@@kp8381 Indeed!🐘
@@shoshannahorton7461 🐘I know! I have never seen any elephant do that! She is quite the character. She got tough on Timisa toward the end, too. What a special girl.🐘
Two sweet DETERMINED ellies! Khanyisa loves Adine so very much!--She is determined and doesn't let her "smallness" get in the way at all! --And timisa seems to not give in much at all. Very determined ellies! When Zindoga shows up Khaynisa is like, "I'm just getting a bite of grass here! I'm not being bad!" I love how the elder elephants come to make sure everything is okay! Love them all so much! Thanks for sharing and not being jealous with your time with them!

Khanyisa and her crossing legs will always make me smile.
And the jealousy that appeared kinda shocked me. She was definitely telling Tamisa to go away lol. Then to see all the adults to come check on the two babies was actually adorable. I feel they are all telepathic somehow.
Direi ATTENTI!
Here here 😊
I thought Timisa held back considerably well considering Khanyisa was the aggressor. Well done Timi. The adult ellies will sort them out.
So cute…Little Miss Knanysia’s coming into her own. Time for sweet Timisa to give her a lesson in herd hierarchy…🐘🐘
ABSOLUMENT ❤
Timisa is so calm and tolerant.
Spoiled Baby Syndrome😂 seems like Khanyisa has always been feisty, probably what helped her survive. I noticed they both had that secretion they get when they are agitated sometimes. Timisa is so patient with the little madam, a wonderful glimpse into their lives, thank you all❤
Wow it looks like Lundi has another little trouble maker on her hands. Mambo and the pretty pink Princess are a handful 😂😂😂 Timi is so patient with her little sister. 💕 🐘 🐘
I noticed that Timisa has that fluid present on her head that's there during emotional moments, too. Aww, I hope her feelings aren't hurt as Khanyisa figures out that there is plenty of love to go around.
How wonderful to see Jabulani and others move in to settle things down, as well. Wow, they really are a family. 🐘🐘🐘❤
What a fascinating video, Adine ~ Thank you for sharing this with us. Sending much love and angels of calm to these dear girls.
Paz y luz to all.
👍
Happy Saturday everyone! It’s always so enjoyable watching our favorite elephant family! ❤️👍🏻 Our pink princess is so darn cute! 💖
So fascinating watching this. I never saw Khanyisa behave so aggressively toward Timisa. And handsome Jabulani supervising them. My fondness for Timisa has grown enormously. Fabulous video of the goings on at wonderful and outstanding HERD.❤
A regular viewer of HERD, I now have a interest in elephants. I very much like the carers and appreciate the workings of the elephants mind and body. I love seeing the carers with the elephants, even Khanyisa can shade her carer now. Reading about elephants does not compare with the videos towards bringing understanding, admiration, and wanting to hear more about the society of elephants plus I loved the dung beetle lesson. I have posted some excepts that help me look at the herd with an even more admiring mind, these are a few characteristics, among many--elephants being complex:
Elephants purr just like cats! Not only do they communicate through trumpet sounds, snorts, roars, cries and purring, elephants pick up sounds of rumbles with their feet and they can hear communications over long distances though the vibrations that come up through their feet and into their ears.
Elephants have deep family bonds. The herd is led by the matriarch (the female head of a family.) Calves are raised by the entire herd. When males are about 12 years old, they leave the herd to live on their own while the females stay with family herd. Females will often stay with their mothers their whole lives so elephants often become great-grandmothers.
Elephants are highly sensitive and caring animals, much like humans. If a baby elephant cries, the herd will touch and caress the baby with their trunks to soothe it. They are highly intelligent animals with complex emotions, feelings, compassion and self-awareness (elephants are one of very few species to recognize themselves in a mirror!).
Like humans, elephants mourn the death of their love ones. They gently touch and caress the skull of deceased loved ones with their trunks, and they will pause for several minutes of silence in the place where their loved one dies, even several years after their death. An elephant never forgets.
Playing in the water isn't just fun for elephants, it's good for them inside and out! When they're able to float, the buoyancy provides their leg joints a much needed break. Mud acts as a sunscreen, bug repellent and moisturizer, which is helpful because elephants have extremely sensitive skin.
Elephants aren't actually scared of mice, they're scared of bees! African farmers raise bees to keep the elephants away from their crops, the all-natural elephant repellent.

Sweet little Timisa just wanted a snack. Khanyisa has shown aggression towards Timisa a few times. I remember when timisa was eating the bark from a tree and Khanyisa came and tried to take it right out of her mouth. That went on for awhile and Timisa remained calm and retrained. Khanyisa is a little fighter and maybe a bit spoiled, but she's learning and growing. Love all these elephants and watching the behaviors of these gentle giants is such a learning curve for all of us.
Wow! This is the first time I’m seeing Khanyisa being so serious with Timi and actually not wanting to share her food.
Her food or Adina 😂
Maybe the elephant version of the terrible twos?
@@carolynminter7839 both.
@@latsnojokelee6434 could be. The only thing is she’s 3 and will be 4 in September.
Khanyisa has attitude and Timi has patience!
Lol that little temper came out
Thank you
Timisa is such a pretty girl 😍
Oh dear, oh dear, sibling rivalry seems to be a thing no matter who and where 😂 Little Miss Pinky has quite the feisty demeanour, and despite her sweet patience, good on Timisa for not backing down. Great seeing the bulls come over to check things out between the little ones, especially Zindoga seeming to want them to stop as if he doesn't like the babies tussling 🤗❤🐘❤
Giusto 👍
Wow! Ears held out and tail up! Incredible interactions between them all!
Khanyisa woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning lol...
Thank you for showing us all sides of the elephants’ behavior. How eye-opening to watch Khanyisa assert herself rather aggressively with her friend, and to see Timisa’s tolerant response. Everything is a learning experience for the little one, as she tests her strength and understands the consequences. What are those facial secretions? Are they a response to the emotion of the moment?
I noticed that too. In mating season its called musht(sp?). Easy sign that the bulls can be unpredictable. But it looks like it happens under certain stresses too.
Secretions are caused from their emotions anything from angry to happy too stressed but that's usually one secretions from elephants occur
Thank you! I was wondering why they looked, "wet," in the same places. Excuse my ignorance, please 😕💁
Did a quick search and learned that these are temporal gland secretions. The underlying causes are not completely understood but seem to be related to heightened emotion, including stress and arousal.
That defiantly cute look on her face when Adine tells her "Khanyisa, stop it!" 😂😂. I laughed at the end when Adine said run, run, run, they'll leave you behind, you've been naughty, you're fighting. And off meisiekind goes, but still gives Timi another headbutt for good measure 😁😁
😲🥺😤poor Timisa!!!!
It is the first time that I see Little Miss Sunshine so jealous, so agressive and so mean with Timisa I know when it comes to Adine's attention and food she cannot help it but she also must learn her rank Timi is always so patient with her little sister and did not want to let the situation get out of hand "let my tail I do not like your attitude" Luckily Jabu and Zindoga took over smart Somopane peace maker's role Lundi will also have problem with her adoptive daughter😅
Cara Marie Claude hai perfettamente ragione!
My goodness, what a little madam tantrum from miss pinkalicious! Timisa is such a sweetheart and was very patient with little miss. The mamas and aunties will check miss K’s behaviour. 🐘🐘🐘🥰🥰🥰
It's one thing to spar playfully, another to fight in jealousy. Khanyisa, Timisa and Pisa: Adine loves you all equally. No need to be jealous. 🥰🐘🐘🐘🥰
👍
Timisa is very patient! It's wonderful to see Khanyisa so sure of herself. Hard to remember a day where she was anything but strong and confident. Testimony to the care that you have all given her. Thank you! 💜🙏💜
Oh come on. Give Timisa a treat😊
We did! A few. Khanyisa kept coming at her 😵😬 but Timi got some sweet potato and pellets
Agree
They did give her sweet potatoes.
@@herdelephantorphanage As we all have come to know, Ellis are very smart, not only smart, but have a memory that is just beyond belief. If I recall correctly, Khanyisa, being ensnared in a trap, nearly starved her to death. I'm sensing that she treats every meal as if it could be her last. Losing her mother, being caught in a snare, and feeling the pain of hunger to the brink of starvation, is not something she wants to ever experience again. Hopefully, she will eventually grow out of it, but the traumatic experience has left its mark that hasn't moved to the back end of her memory bank. She's still healing.
Thank you for sharing those precious moments.
Good morning from Canada!❤
Wow! Khanyisa got a little testy with her friend. Good thing Timisa is patient and good hearted💞
She's getting so big!!! It's great to see how much Khanyisa is fitting in and becoming a well loved member of the herd. They definitely care about the little one and she's accepted by all of them. Considering she's an orphan and had no family it's quite amazing to see how well she's been integrated into the herd!! She's quite the feisty one!
What kind of family would it be if there wasn't any sibling rivalry, they are just too cute. 🥰 Makes my day. Thanks everyone for these joyful videos.
Good ol' uncle Jabu to the rescue 😊❤️🐘
Khanyisa can get a bit cheeky when she wants to be. She did back off a bit when Jabulani dropped by to check on her and Timisa, but then she was off and running again. I love watching Khanysia gobble up those sweet potatoes; I don't blame Timisa for wanting some of them.
Zindoga may very well become a peacemaker in the Herd ❤. He already has a peaceful disposition.
Khanyisa has gotten so big!!! Timi knew that you were correcting Khanyisa! 😂❤🐘
Yes, it did look like she was a bit jealous of Adine giving Timisa some attention, lol😄 It was as though she was saying, "no, no not whiles I eating, you my momma Adine!" 😄💕
So cute how she crossed her leg while eating too🥰💁
Such a character she is🥰💕😘💕kisses and hugs for our, "little," darling😘💕🤗💕
Well, this tenacity is part of her survival instinct.
Khanyisa went full rhino chasing off Timi like that 😂 She might be a baby, but she’s still an elephant
How big they are getting, all with love ❤️
Khanysia loves her sweet potatoes I've learned that no one comes between her and her snacks.
Thank you for all you do. 💚💚💚💚.
Khanyisa needs a firmer hand!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙂🐘🐘
Thanks you 🕊🇺🇲💕
I couldn't help but laugh....just like a child towards its sibling...
7:34 Oh my goodness these two girls are now looking stressed. I pray things get worked out between the two sisters.
Thank you for taking care of this lovely Herd. ❤💕
😲😁poor Timisa🤗💗
Love watching her saviour every last drop of milk. Clever how she balances the sweet potato on her trunk.
Sisterly rivalry is a part of growing up 😂
I love when she drinks her milk so cute!🥰💚🍼🐘 And Jabulani truly a gentle giant. Always so gentle with the lil ones💚

Aw...Sibling rivalry ❤🐘🐘
I love spending my Saturday morning with Khanyisa and her family..the lovely African sounds are so amazing and beautiful❤❤
I love to hear her drinking milk. 🥰🥰🥰
Children are just children..
That was some jealousy. I never saw Khanyisa so aggressive or jealous before. Glad she is growing up and getting stronger. It was fun to see two kids fighting pushing and shoving just like humans. Khanyisa was spoilt where nobody except her got all the attention. Hence the rivalry.

Khaynisa 🐘 is not very happy with Timisa 🐘 at all. Timisa 🐘 does hold her own with Khaynisa's 🐘 antics. Adine you are so right jealousy has stricken Khaynisa 🐘. I am so glad that some of the family stepped in. I hope the rest of their day goes better for both of them. ❤️🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘❤️
Perfetto cara Dorothy!
When I watch them I feel like I'm there ❤
One can never tire of these delightful and precious
Elephants. They are SO INCREDIBLE and their personalities are absolutely extraordinary! It amazes me and delights me at the same time. I don't wish to condone little Miss K's behavior but, I am speechless that they have these depths of emotions. It touches me and makes me that much angrier of people whom mean them harm. They are exhibiting human emotions and how horrifying to know they suffer evil treatment by poachers, etc. It is heartbreaking for me to know not only Elephants but, so many helpless animals suffer at the hands of mankind. Animals are a gift from God Our Creator.
I thank you Adine and all the wonderful and compassionate Carers that not only LOVE the Elephants but, the ELEPHANTS LOVE the Carers.
The jealousy Khanyisa shows is no different than children fighting for attention in a human family. To know the Adult Elephants are keen in watching the youngsters and will come and break up any hostilities is again breathtaking. I so wish I had Bigger Aspirations when I was a young woman and the maturity and education to be a part of something like this. Being an American in the 60's women were taught strongly to follow in their Mothers footsteps and get married and have children. So sad that was our main direction and even sadder that I didn't have the unction to pursue other more worldly goals!
My deepest appreciation to those that dedicate their lives to this ambition and lifestyle. I Truly believe working with animals on this level humbles you and makes you a better human being. Love to All!! To Adine and the Organization, the Carers and The Herd! God Bless you all.❤🙏❤🙏❤
oh my miss pinky has a great attitude. she's so sweet .I love her dearly.
Timisa is being very patient. Khanyisa’s strong will helped her survive her rescue - eventually she will learn.

She Has Gotten So Big! GOOD FOR HER!
Oh my. Someone must have gotten up on the wrong side this morning. I’m sure it’s part of growing up and sisters do have spats sometimes. Everyone loves Adine.
I love the way the calf crosses the back leg just so casually. Thank you for your wonderful love and caring of the elephants.
Cute children. I love watching them eat and drink. ❤️🐘❤️
Adorable! Thanks to all protecting these beautiful creatures!
Meisiekind, Meisiekind!! I can understand how a very young elephant as with a child would naturally feel that way. Hopefully, soon, things will become more harmonious. They are so wonderful. 💗🐘💗
Well, that is all part of growing up I'm afraid. Even human child do these with their brothers and sisters.
Wow, she is beautiful!! It makes me so sad that there are people who want to hurt these beautiful creatures.
Adine and the Careers need to be careful and not be standing in the wrong place at the wrong time and Khanyisa needs to learn that size matters in her world. Amazing instincts shown by Jabulani and Zindoga.
As you say Khanisya will have to learn and she will cos she will be disciplined by a member of the herd in the near future ( Tokwe or Lundi I suspect) as she as showed this type of trait a few times lately .. it’s all part of the growing up process for the little one
Verissimo!
My respect for Timisa increased after this video . Timisa is so gentle with little Khanyisa . She may become a matriarch in future.
She does exhibit the traits of one. She truly has beautiful face and personality.❤
Timisa has always seemed so tolerant of Khanyisa's shall we say boisterous personality 😂❤
Fighting with your best friend. Don't worry, you are still our baby girl ❤❤
Hi khanisa ❤️. Adine 🌹 is human mother of khanisa ❤️ and she will never forget it. It's good 👍. Timisa ❤️ is a sweet elephant 🐘 too but the love between mother/daughter is strong ❤
I love that Zindoga tried to intervene. Must be Somophone’s influence, lol.
Khanyisa is feisty! She doesn’t act like she’s the smallest in the herd.
Oh my....I feel bad for Khanyisa and Timisa. I know they will work it out, but I wish there was a way to reassure them that they are loved and important. That little rascal could not leave it alone!
Good morning (0631) from Seattle Washington USA.
My favorite baby elephant ❤
Khanyisa you litle jealous girls 😅🐘💙🐘💙🐘💙💎
I think in the future when timisa is all grown. She'll be the calm one to take care of everyone 😊
Wow look at our baby Khanyisa go. No longer the vulnerable baby!
Good job to the older bulls keeping the peace. Very interesting. Khanyisa no pulling tails.
The rivalries between siblings seem to happen cross species lol. I guess it's based on selfish hoarding of resources for oneself. I'm 63 and can still remember bickering with my sisters, especially if treats were involved, and pinching fights. Handling emotions appropriately takes maturity. I chuckled through the whole interaction between the elephant children.
That was so cool. Princess is jealous, became a mean Ellie. Naughty but cool😂. Good job Timi for understanding but still wanted some snacks and attention. Khanyisa seems not to be a sharer. I hope as she grows up she will gr,ow out of that stage. Family shouldn’t be jealous. Share the love if not your snacks Miss Princess Khanyisa. Timi loves you and Adine. Share Khanyisa there’s enough love for you both
