It’s definitely satisfying using up makeup. I was buying way too much but have cut back significantly. I’ve curated my collection down to what works for me and what I love. Just this morning I was getting ready and realized I’m almost done with my second Rare Beauty bronzer stick. Makes me feel good about my purchases and that I’m making better decisions when it comes to makeup.
For the concealer, try taking out the stopper or buy the silicone scoop set from ulta. They help get out products just beyond the wands or pumps. I know i use them for things that I'm positive are empty then use them to scrape the sides & get even more product.
Aries here to make that coin! ❤ At 51 I can finally and honestly say that A) there’s no perfect time and B) every time is the perfect time! Do with that what you will but to me it finally makes perfect sense. Love you both! ❤
I’ve got a new vibe from you , something totally different good . I don’t know it’s your mindset or something, Samantha , you are doing well with makeup project pan !! 😊
I'm doing a project use up too although my collection is much smaller and that's the way I want to keep it. The only way I'm allowing myself to get or try anything new these days is by using something up. I don't have a ton of storage space and I also just want to enjoy what I have and get the satisfaction of using things up.
I’m so excited to follow your journey with this project. I think the lipstick will be the hardest. I would def suggest repressing your bronzer and powder. It’s so much easier to use when it isn’t around the border of the pan. You got this Sam!!
I’m going to use up my SAEI liquid highlighter. I’m determined to use up at least ONE blush and ONE bronzer. I think I want to use up the Beauty Bay pink blush and my Revlon powdered bronzer before my tan fades. I would like to use up a couple of mascaras and brow products so that I can whittle down my “back ups”. I am determined to use up BOTH of my Tarte Maracuja lip glosses and at least one lip liner. At least one eyeliner, if not two. I’m going to work on the Patrick Ta brown eyeliner pencil and the black MakeUp Forever waterproof black pencil. I’m trying to burn through some of my stick eyeshadows right now. Those last forever!!!! 😂 I would like to get to the bottom of at least one concealer before my tan fades and I have to go with the lighter shades in my horde. Such a great contest idea! Thanks Sam.
I’ve hit pan on two blushes - both very small; one is a Nars Orgasm mini that was a Sephora free gift, and one is an e.l.f. Bite Size, but STILL. Hitting pan on a blush….. I feel like I have to take pictures, mark it on my calendar, post about it on my socials….. 😂😂😂😂😂
Yesss! You’ve inspired to use up… l am going to do three products: my Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer, my Westman Atelier Contour Stick, and my Lifter Gloss in the shade opal. Let’s do this!!
I know exactly what you mean with the object permanence, where if you don't see something, it doesn't exist. I've been trying to be better about using what I have and not buying more things. When a new palette comes out and you show it, I try and look to see if I already have those colors, even though I don't have them in that exact color story. It's so hard. I really admire your determination! You can do it! You're inspiring me to do the same!
So perfect to see a cameo appearance by the beautiful Queen! Made my day!🫠 I carry a FitMe pressed powder in my purse for touch up. I’ve completely used up three of them! Go me!😂 I also completely used up the first eyeshadow palette I ever bought. A 2011 release from Tarte! That hasn’t happened since. 🤭 I also used up a Laura Geller Conour and highlight baked compact. Took me 10 years….but I did it! Replaced it last summer. I fear I might not live long enough to finish this one….😂
You got this girl!! 💪🏽❤ Heres a tip for your super shock, put a peice of papertowel over it and the use the cap end of something like a water bottle to press it back together. It wont be so messy that way 😉
Yes Samantha you can do this girl. I love using up my makeup because it makes room for something new or if i really liked it then I'll repurchase. The CT lipliner in iconic nude I'm on my 3rd one, i bought the refill of her powder bronzer at the start of the year and i just hit pan, her flawless finish hit hit pan on that a few weeks back this is my second one. ND lipliner in Natasha I'm on my second one, her lipstick in the shade Michelle i went through one of them and i love that shade so i repurchased. But in your line of work it must be so hard to use up product.
A typical bullet lipstick has 365 uses. A bullet was initially designed to be used once daily for a year. So that MAC lipstick you have and want to use is about half full. It may be more of a challenge than you think.
Oh my gosh I found my soul mate, lol. I’m the same way with using things up, girl I can make it last. And I’m the same way about forgetting about using products if they’re not staring me in the face. I also decided I’m going to do some of the projects next year because you can’t start a project like that half way through, lol. I’m a hot mess and I’m not ashamed. You can finish all of these… I’m rooting for you!! 💜 hugs and kisses to Aries 💜
I've been trying to use up a Mac Fix+ forever! I also have a colourpop concealer and lip liner on my list. I am also almost done with my huge ABH loose setting powder. I think color cosmetics are the hardest to finish. I hit pan in my huda highlighter palette last week and I couldn't believe it.
Using up things comes with such a sense of victory! I'm currently trying with my CT hyloraunic hapikiss in pillow talk and my colourpop jelly much shadow in mojave moves.
You can do it! I'm the same way about saving things then another issue, once it's gone you're going to tell yourself you need another one since it was sooo good!
I’m doing a Six by Santa project pan. NYX On the Rise lash primer, Dior Diorshow navy blue mascara (both brand new), Covergirl brow pencil, Garnier micellar water, EL midnight blue eyeliner and MAC lip conditioner. I’m pretty sure I can get them all done.
My project products are Marc Jacobs gloss, Armani luminous silk concealer, Kosas concealer, Pat undereye powder, Westman Atelier contour stick, and Marc Jacobs tantour bronzer. Other than the two bronzer products, these are all almost gone but fall into the category of saving to bitter end of a beautiful fave expensive product. Here they go!
4:06 ooo yes! &ya that’s a “poverty mindset”&/or a “scarcity mindset” and a therapist will absolutely be able to help you with it. But I used to be the worst with that! Since implementing a use up method for my products I’ve been getting the most out of them& enjoying them. I’m sooo close to finishing my haus labs foundation I bought in Nov! I really just buy things to replace now cause i know i have soooo much i will never use it all in my lifetime lol

Great challenge video. I am on a no buy at all because I need to use what I already have, plus it gets costly buying new products just because a Contact Creator is trying something. I don't get out often so just wear eyebrow pencil and a lip product or 2 at a time. There are lipsticks I have never opened. I need to put makeup on for me. I just bought a Eco Tools eye brush set and I haven't open it????? I need to do me, got a little depression going on too. Loved your video.👍🤡👑🙏🐾🧡🤎💛❗
Math IS hard sometimes, I totally agree!!!! I've got 2 lipsticks, a lip liner & my tarte blush in my to use up by the end of the year. Fingers crossed to me & you x
Tell you what, l have Koosh too which shows not much sign of use. I'll aim to use it up too along with you by year end! Easy as l think, not too much product in there right 😊
I have a whole makeup bag sitting on top of my vanity that is my use up bag. I have my Ilia serum skin tint, the same Becca Bronzer, Dior no powder, Bobbie Brown face base, and Dior backstage concealer. We got this.
When I have a powder or a bronzer that’s down to the hard to access ring of product around the edges of the pan, I will carefully crack them into pieces and either put them into another container and make loose powder out of it, or I’ll grind one little piece at a time with a little spoon, right in the compact and use it that way. I don’t do it wastefully, just to use it up, but you do use it up much faster as a loose product. I guess more just gets eaten up by the brush.

You got this :) I feel like the lipstick will be the hardest but IDK It seems to vary from person to person. Still, about 5 months for a used lipstick may be doable, especially if you try it out as a cream blush.
1. The term you’re looking for re: if I don’t see it, it’s gone- is called object permanence. 2. Being able to make something last and last and last is definitely something we learn as poor kids. 3. I turn finishing up a product into an accomplishment and almost a game. Like I celebrate myself for handling past traumas as mentioned in number 2.
Hii, so my mindset is a bit different. I buy makeup to use but I accept that i may not use it up before its expirstion date. And I closely watch expiration dates especially on foundations, concealers and lipsticks. I used to wear more makeup but since i started WFH full time, i barealy wear any😂 maybe once a week if I go out. So you can imagine how hard it is difficult to use up anything😂😂
Excited for this! I just used up Sigma lip mask and CT mini setting spray today. Want to use up Sigma lip oil, CP Oh Snap lip liner, CT light wonder foundation (my 2nd one!), CT SPF primer.
When I was a single mom, I would save to biy a box of say brownies & neither of us would eat the last piece! We would all save it for the other one & it would dry out because of all our 'in case someone else wanted it more than I' mindset! So yeah it's being poor for sure!
I'm in the same boat with my Lawless forget the filler gloss in red. I have other lip products I use on a daily basis, but I feel like I have to save the Lawless for more special occasions since it's red...If I would just use it up, I could buy another one and try a different color and be perfectly happy 😅
I am so here for your project use up journey! I believe you can do it with all your products you got this just put in a bag where you see it so it reminds you! And I appreciate that you picked products you use all the time. Pencils and lipsticks especially are hard to use up you got this! I am trying to get to my the 30% mark on my second lip liner and its going to take some work! I also finished a lipstick and like an idiot added another one to that project but with how long it takes to use it me seeing progress is so satisfying. My hardest ones are a blush and an older foundation - I am determined to finish those. I have empties in almost every category except highlight and I am pretty happy so I am keeping the pedal to the mettle and hoping to use up more than just my list I made in January :)
I have ADHD and struggle with object permanence, so I frequently have things out or put things in places that I'll be more likely to see them to remind me of their existences.
The superpower of making things last longer than they're supposed to is called being "poor." If you have ever had a time when you were "poor" you may develop this power. 😂
So true!
I have this superpower. I hope I never have to use it again 😂

I have other lip products I use on a daily basis, but I feel like I have to save the Lawless for more special occasions since it's red...If I would just use it up, I could buy another one and try a different color and be perfectly happy 😅
❤️
Good luck, sweetie!😂😂😂
That super shock can be a highlighter too...just sayin😂
❤❤❤
I swear my products regenerate overnight 😂
Me I would just throw them out and buy new ones. Lol Samantha they are used up let them go 😂😂😂
I have ADHD and struggle with object permanence, so I frequently have things out or put things in places that I'll be more likely to see them to remind me of their existences.
😊
I won't even open things to save them for the perfect moment and then they go bad and I have to throw them away so I understand.
Just put honey love under all of your lip looks lol 😂
Omg in this video you remind me so much of Sarah Jessica Parker!
I had to reduce my project pan to literally 5 things because it *got too much* !!! lol
I'd say CT powder is pretty panned lol

If we put aside the MAC Honeylove lipstick, this use up project will be 100% a success!
💜💚💙
U look extremely beautiful
