When I was a younger fan of music I would sometimes see people cry when they listened to certain songs and I never understood why. I understand now whenever I listen to Dream Brother. I've been listening to this song now for almost 30 years and it still makes me cry.
This song is about a man telling his friend not to abandon his new family because he himself grew up without his father in his life. Yeah, nothing to cry about here...
This is just superb. Chris Thile's passion and enthusiasm are contagious, the arrangement is wonderful, and I think we are seeing the emergence of a major talent in Madison Cunningham. Watch this girl go!
The best musician of the ‘00s with the most exciting new musician with the best drummer of all time playing a song from the best album of all time. Perfect
1. What a wonderful job y'all did. Seriously, so gorgeous I got chills. 2. I can't believe I never made the connection that the Matt Johnson I've seen play with St. Vincent multiple times and whose Midlake album I've listened to a million times was also Jeff Buckley's drummer. Jeff is my #1 fave! St. Vincent, another one of my top tops, and Midlake just a classic... how did I not put all of this greatness together!?
Couldn’t click on the video quick enough when I saw dream brother. Thanks for paying such respectful tribute to this song. What a performance!! Nailed it! Madison’s vocals and guitar were incredible in homage to JB.
Also in the coincidence department: I bought Grace a couple weeks ago and it has been living inside my car's CD player. Then I caught this performance on Saturday... What a beautiful tribute! I could tell Madison Cunningham was influenced by Grace- her song "Location" sounded to me very melodically similar to "Lover, You Should Have Come Over."
Soooo Happy this found me today..much Respect and Love.. J.B.still lives in the spirit of his music. You guys did it total justice. Happy 4th of July 2023 Freedom definently is not free is it.❤
I've been searching high and low for Jeff's version of Song To The Siren, but of course it doesn't exist., However this is as close to Jeff Buckley writing a song between his father and girlfriend, the sailor and siren if you will. The last line 'Asleep in the sand with the ocean washing over' was not only prophetic, but also what actually happens in reality to anyone who sometimes messes with the sea.
I think that song sounds better only just madison voice solo without this bandolim guy trying to makes a back vocal that’s ridiculous is like he have hungry to fame
"Matt Johnson on the drums!" - Jeff Buckley
Kanga roo reference was awesome

One of the greatest songs ever written. The lyrics are just next-level. "Her green eyes blew goodbyes..." that whole verse is breath taking.
I'm a big Chris Thile fan. He is an absolute imp. Like this song could be anything other than a haunting. "Don't mind me, I'm just making music..."
Grace is such an intense album... That rendition was beautiful
Fantastic orchestration. The violin cries nicely.

Oh my goodness, this version is stunning...and Matt Johnson! What a treat. Chris is a gift

Wow, great cover!
Matt fucking Johnson. Smooth drummer even when he was just starting his career.

Missing Jeff so much 🙏🏼
Would have loved that Jeff Buckley recorded this one with an Egyptian ensemble à la Page & Plant on Kashmir.
Bravo!
Love the passage 4:36-4:45
that's awesome you got JB's drummer...nice cover!

I think Madison enjoyed that😊
The violin (or perhaps viola?) is great but to be honest in my view the mandolin is a poor choice for this song
honestly agreed !!

Madison appears here on the bandolim guy's show.
