    6:20 You confused Galician with Gaelic, wich sound similar (the word, not the language) and it will even make sense because the Galician people are also Celtic but their languages are completely different.

    I was watching too many videos asking US citizens in recent years and thought to myself I'm good. I can name and point every country and assign them their flags, but knowing all capitals, reconginizing national anthems, naming official languages? Common knowledge can be described as something MOST people know and something that is to a degree useful. Knowing capital, flag, anthem or even a location of Samoa in neither useful, nor common to know. All of these guys are highly above average. I'm telling you, if you were to walk down a street, you would need to ask 10000 people in order to find one. @apple6340

    although there was historical Gaelic (Celtic) influences in the north of Spain, I don't know of any Gaelic languages still spoken, especially not as an official language. did he maybe think the Galician (Gallego) is a Gaelic language? 54 independent, sovereign, UN recognized countries based completely in Africa or outlying islands.

    • @icturner23
      @icturner23 10 місяців тому

      @@SantomPh Western Sahara is not a ‘technicality’. It is a territory invaded by Morocco. Ceuta is not a colony - it has been Spanish territory since long before neighbouring Morocco even existed. The same for Melilla. It’s irrational, discriminatory and inconsistent to exclude countries with not all of their territory in Africa - by that logic Egypt is not an African country as it is partly in Asia. Even if you say that it is based on the majority of the country, that means saying that Russia is only an Asian and not a European country. Fixating on U.N. recognition in order to exclude Western Sahara means not classifying any of France’s territories as colonies, as that is the U.N. position on them.
      I wasn’t ignorant of the reasoning and didn’t need it ‘explaining’ to me. It’s just stupid.

    "simple questions"... what are the geography questions they ask Americans on youtube then? How many continents are there, Can you name 3 countries in the world. And they find someone dumb enough to answer "what is a country?". One of the very few of these "simple questions" I could have answered is the 7 countries in Africa. Cause there are so many of them so naming 7 isn't that hard.

    It's not even funny anymore at this point. I'm not sure exactly how bad Americans are at geography, because I can't just trust UA-cam about it, but no, Europeans are not that good. We know about the rest of the world, but pretending that we know so much as a general rule, that's just a joke.
