IM Yaacov Norowitz Vs Talented, 17 yr old Blitz Sensation IM Elect Eric Labog Jr. Best of 3match

This match took place at Caine Knights Dalawahan Chess for a cause. After the exhibition match of IM Yaacov and FM Elorta, i ask Master Yaacov if he could give time for a best of 3 match against the promising 17 yr old blitz Sensation IM Elect Eric Labog Jr. Fortunately he responded positively and was very excited for the match. At First IM Yaacov could not believe that despite having just a 2000 plus fide rating Eric has already have IM Norm. So he was kidding that Eric might be a chess hustler. But later on i was bale to explain it to IM Yaacov that Eric has won an Asean 18 Under competition and from there he got his outright norm for IM and he is hust waiting to reach the required rating to become a full pledge International Master.

It’s cool to see this enthusiasm about chess in the Philippines! I have heard stories about international tournaments with lots of countries sending players- 40+ people from the US, 40+ from China, etc. Then only 1 player from the Philippines there but that one player has the support of the entire country behind them. Filipinos really support each other- it’s admirable.
