Such brilliant scholarship and musicianship combined! You have given a really fine presence for a renaissance and early baroque tradition that is sadly believed to be inhabited only by recorders. Thank you for this brilliant presentation. Could we also have the titles for the iconography, some of which is very familiar, but several which is truly obscure?

vous dites : "Belle musique de flûte légère et fluide du Moyen Âge, probablement sur de vieux instruments d'origine ......"
Hélas je n'ai pas de flûtes originales du 16ème, rares instruments dans les musées. Toutes les flûtes jouées sont des copies de ma main. Merci pour le compliment. j'adore Kopenhagen et le château de Frederiksborg avec l'orgue de Compenius

@@allanamacatuno3062 As it is a French song by Hesdin I don't think there is an English name for it. DEUIL DOUBLE DEUIL means : Mourning, double mourning. On an other video ua-cam.com/video/DUecXV43wB4/v-deo.html You may listen on tracks 17, 18, 19 to four different versions of this song played by 2,3,4 and 6 Renaissance flutes. Enjoy!

it is called "l'assemblée" marcher pou les fifres et tambours, by Philidor l'Ainé (1652-1730)
So much better than baroque usage. The flute isn't suitable as a concerto showpiece or in stiltted cadenzas imo.
