    Tim. Great work as always. I vote for your next project to be the back yard porche. Seems dangerous with all that glass ready to fall at any minute now. I love your channel. Thanks for sharing

      Thanks, this was filmed over a year ago, hence why porch still there. I started to take down last week, and will be finishing this week to make up a temporary structure.

    That is some back breaking work. Props for being able to do it.

    Absolutely gorgeous! How is it holding up after 6 years? How well does this stone tolerate harsher climates (such as Ontario Canada)?

    Wow that was a huge amount of back breaking work.
    Superb job!

    Hi, this is a great way to review the work on a particular aspect you’ve tackled and I’d be happy to see many more ‘whole project’ videos if you’ve a mind to put them together? Love the path! Regards, Gerry

      Yes I have a few planned, the footgae is still there and lots I never used so when I am bust on other projects I will trickle out some full build vids.

      The Restoration Couple - great, I think they’ll be very well received. Sort of an index of methods that people can then go back and find the more detailed original as they want to. Did you intimate that you are sometimes not so busy ... can’t believe that ;-)

    I loved this series when you first did it!
    Hoping to do a pathway this spring. Out of curiosity, how far did you excavate down and how thick is the foundation/mot1 layer?
    I didn't know if there was a general rule of thumb!

    • @TheRestorationCouple
      @TheRestorationCouple  7 років тому

      75mm minimum, basically you just need to get the topsoil off and down to the solid stuff. We did anything from 100mm to 300mm of mot1 for different areas of paths and patios, but needs to be compacted in 75mm layers.

    Beautiful. at the end did you use beach sand to fill in the spaces?

    • @TheRestorationCouple
      @TheRestorationCouple  7 років тому

      No it’s a resin pointing compound which sets up rock solid.

    Seen all your vids, I’d say this is your greatest success 👍 love the slight curve on the path, how did you do that..? Just by eye..?

    • @TheRestorationCouple
      @TheRestorationCouple  7 років тому +1

      Thanks. String line for the outer edges and the curve just by eye. Fortunately I could stand down the steps and look along it at eye level as I went.

    Great video as always. What did you use to stick the flags to each step?

    • @TheRestorationCouple
      @TheRestorationCouple  7 років тому

      The existing concrete steps were primed with a cement slurry and then the flags bedded on mortar, (also backed with slurry.) before pointing like usual.

    Beautiful job there man... keep up the good work... 👍😎
    And... not to be that person ... but... NEVER put your hand (especially gloved) into a rotating cement mixer, a paddle grabs u & its game over... just sayin...
    ALWAYS safety first...
    (This message was brought to u by a guy with nine & a half fingers... because of my own stupidity & tiredness...and I was lucky not to lose my hand... 😔)

    Would have been so much better to talk us through the process instead of the obnoxious music.

  • @basher50
    @basher50 7 років тому +1

    Too much music, everyone feels the need for a musical score, it detracts from the content, I don't mute

      Just mute it. It's literally one button.
