The Magical Sound of the SteelBand is so attractive that you just want to hear more and more and more of it . Imagine that the SteelPan as an Instrument was just a Teenager when these Classics were Recorded . Genius I must say .
Thanks for posting this wonderful video. It brings back beautiful memories of the very nice and friendly people from Trinidad I used to meet on vacation in Barbados about the time that this music was first being played....BAJE
I was just a little girl living with my parents in the heart of St John's Antigua remembered the Iron bands at nights and holidays on Market Street, lots of rhythun, made by tins bottles, old car rims and the like, with Bill Abbott, blowing a conck shell, later getting a car horn of some old ford car, then came the steel drums, and with the help of Miss Bertha Higgins an artist and musician, she started teaching the fellows who were using the steel drums to play by music then Mr Grifin who was the conductor of the Royal, Police band started to give the steel bands men instructions .
As a collector of records especially Pan and Calypso, this one I will like to have in my collection. If anyone has this or any other for sale please write to me . Great Music. Thanks.

Contact your local steelband association and find out if they have early recordings of pan music from Antigua. Maybe you could persuade the archivist to post these recordings on UA-cam.
