He was a firecracker last season. Wasn’t worldclass but definitely a massive contribution to why we are playing in Europe this season.
Probably because he has only one year left and Todd probably wants to buy another expensive player in his position.
They can't use the ffp trick of 8+ year contracts now they have European football though as uefa brought a maximum rule of 5 years. The premier league hasn't adopted it yet though I think.
Going to be interesting to see how they fit all the new players into the European squad registration though if they keep selling off academy players they'll not have enough for the slots.

I don’t at all understand why Chelsea sell academy players and then go spend just as much on players with no experience or attachment to the club
their owners have no idea what they're doing
Because “experience and attachment” doesn’t control a midfield that can challenge for league titles, which is what Chelsea want to do.
If the most important thing to Chelsea fans is having a high rate of academy grads and bang average badge kissers who point at the turf to show everyone how loyal they are then fine, but don’t expect to ever be better than an outsider fighting for 4th spot.
Delighted Chelsea got rid of Mount and can’t wait until they offload this guy too. Will all benefit Chelsea in the long term.

@@padmystr I don’t see this midfield challenging for titles, or this Chelsea team. The players they are bringing in are mediocre and overpriced, too young, coming from less competitive leagues and there are just frankly too many of them. The squad is huge.
And Mount was integral to Chelsea winning the champions league. That squad was world class and so was the manager.
Manchester City every season add one or two experienced players and bring through one or two young players into the first team. That is how you establish a winning era.

I can't believe how short term memory loss seems to have plagued these fools? They said that Chelsea are looking to sell, due to reasons of PSI and then make out Conor Gallagher would be better off waiting out the remainder of his contract? Chelsea have already splashed money out on Dewsberry Hall, they won't allow Conor to run down his contract and going to Athletico Madrid to learn under a better manager in Simeone, is such a better option than anything he'll get in this country.
