Ibanez should bring back all the good old models...and have them as regular made in Japan series/or part of the Genesis collection. Like rosewood, DX style with shark inlays, etc..everything..including PGM models...I think they would have huge success!!
man this guitar has really solid intonation and tuning stability considering how much you were smashing that bridge.. Ive never had a floyd that could sound that good! Nice playing sir!
In few months I’m gonna be having that guitar for 2 years now. I have emerald green and I love it so much, best guitar for practice because it always stays in tune! I wanna get neon orange version too because it’s also sick as hell. But I went with emerald green first because it’s a rare color for a guitar and really eye pleasing. Sick playing, man! Edit: only downside is bright maple neck and after playing for months without cleaning and changing strings on it, it looks really dirty! Edit 2: actually when the neck is that thin, the giant angled block on the back is good, helps to have my hand in position Edit 3: i got Dave Mustaines Thrash factor installed today and this guitar is 10/10 now

if you get a chance, try the old 540r guitars. they have a very slightly thicker and rounder neck which i think fits the hand better and the rounded smaller body is much more comfortable than the pointy and square rgs. the joe satriani models are based off the 540r

was watching the video again, one suggestion, when changing the strings, take one layer of brass shimms of from under the locking nut. you will feel a more buttery action and overall better feeling of the guitar. cheers! you can do that with the RG550 as well!
The fret-ends on my RG550 are the same, but after going over it with the dunlop fret polishing cloth a few strokes it was perfect. They aren't ball-end rounded like an ESP or J.-Custom, but you don't feel them anymore. I'm absolutely in love with the RG550, I'd recommend anyone to check out the Genesis models!
The conehead McKnight also talked shit about fret ends. People need to do research. Factory Prestige/Genesis maple gets zero edge treatment. Signature maple they get the same as rosewood, they run in against a sanding belt in a figure 8 pattern. All Premium and J custom are all filed by hand. You are NOT going to get a maple fretboard filed by hand or machine unless is a signature, premium or J custom. Why are premium filed by hands despite beign cheaper than Prestiges? Because they're done in Indonesia and labor is cheaper. The results is not as good as done by Japanese workers on the J custom. Done. Buy a fret end file with a couple of sandpaper and do your own fret end dressing. Those polishing cloth are not enough to get the fret ends good, you need a fret end file
@@naegleriafowleri2230 The polishing cloth was definitely more than enough. obviously they don't have a ball-end finish, but it's comfortable. I'm talking from my own experience, no clue how bad the frets you've seen have been.
.46 for drop C#??? It's incredibile how It sounds!!! The proof that you don't need to use a super-heavy string gauge for drop tuning. Love your Channel!!!
As long as you can get in intonated it‘s really about feel and how hard you pick. If you absolutely destroy that string you might want a thicker gauge :D Personally I use light strings until Low B. eg I use 9-46 for Drop D, 10-52 for Drop C, 11-54 for Drop B, but 12-64 for drop A#. So there‘s a big jump but for some reason that‘s just the gauge I like for A#. (And for other low tuning I also use bit more tension)

Yeah the tension is pretty much equal to the standart .42 set that was on there in drop D. @Stndrd has a pretty nice list of gauges that fit various tunings. I always wonder who plays thos 60 gauge sets that are "optimized for drop D" which would be ridiculously too much tension.
@@MilianMalivukMusic I also don’t get that. Some sets also have really absurd gauges in the middle. Like Theres am Ernie Ball set that‘s 12-60 - pretty cool. But the G strings has an absurd amount of tension if you use this set for a drop tuning. Even though it‘s one of those „optimized“ for drop tunings. With 7 strings and baritones it goes further downhill. Here I buy single strings and sets to combine them. The only readily available set I really like is the 9.5-64 Strandberg 7 string set. That one is awesome in Drop A (26.5) and still really nice for G#.

Hi i bought the same guitar, it's fantastic. I also feel that the neck pickup is somewhat dark, i'm still uncertain on what to do. Have you tried any other pickups in the neck spot?
@@mylogify hi, i changed the bridge pickup with a DiMarzio Norton. I'm still undecided if it's an improvement or not ,cause the V8 is a good pickup, despite the things said in the forums. For the neck position I might try a Di Marzio chopper or a satch track but in this period is unbelievable hard to get them new. They are out of stock here in Europe. I suspect i will keep the guitar stock cause the sound is balanced overall.
I love Ibanez guitars I own 4 but cant play them very long because of the thin necks.. I wish they would come out with a line ibanez guitars that have a beefy neck. Com'on Ibanez help us chunky neck players out! Good video bro.
I had one of the Satriani models which had a chunkier rounder neck and I believe the AZ models have similar necks, maybe the Les Paul looking one too- try them out!
Hey, what exactly makes thin neck uncomfortable for you? Is it because you need to curve your palm while pressing the notes? And that tires you off? Isn't the thinner neck faster for you while soloing and so? Just curious, :).
I find this 565 a bit more snappy that my 550. I wonder if this has something to do with the fact that the 550 has the pickups mounted to a pickguard, there's a noticeable difference in resonance if you play the guitars dry. The direct mount on the 565 sounds more dense and less "open" or "airy". In the end the difference is very small though. Wouldn't trade my 550 because of that shifting purple neon color!
@@MilianMalivukMusic . I have both and the rg565 sounds better, the guitars weight, pickup placement, different paint, they may have improved some areas since the first release of the genesis
Simply because the RG550 was already mine and this was only equally good (it has almost the exact same specs after all). If I could buy guitars infinitely I would have gotten this as well though as I really loved it!
Just, simply, mouthwatering. Such a great looking guitar. Must resist...must... On the neck joint - these RGs were among the field of Super Strats (Jackson, Charvel, etc.), no naturally, they were based on Strats, neck joint and all. I've got two RG550s. One is the real deal '87 in black, and my Genesis is just about a year old. Absolutely fantastic. I especially like the 5-piece necks on the these. Yep, my new one also had some sharp fret ends. Easily fixed. Though my '87 never had that issue, even back when it was still a babe in the world. So many strong emotions on the pickups across the RG line. I'm in the "I like them, and like them a lot" camp. I had a neck-thru Prestige. Beautiful to look at with the mahogany wings, and the neck running through it, all unpainted. And where the neck joined the body - wow! Talk about smooth, sublime, ugh just so amazing. But I had a few problems with it. Weighed a ton! Sounded lifeless, and I was disappointed that the neck had dead spots everywhere. Just crap. Though I'll say the frets sure were shiny! Here were my "production" MIJ Ibbys coming outta box better put together than my first Prestige model. They dropped that model pretty quickly, so I must not have been alone.
@@PaulSter Same here, I had a RG5120 Prestige for only a few days, I had to return it because it was very heavy about 4 kgs, also mohagony body, and made a decision on RG550, and I really love it!
I felt that this RG565 sounded a bit tighter than my 550, not just through the pickups but also acoustically. I think it might be the difference in routing, the 550 has a much bigger cavity for the pickups since the pickguard is hiding it, feels like the lack thereof is making this tighter. But they're both excellent! It's more a matter of taste, the quality is pretty much the same as it's the same model range.
@@MilianMalivukMusic thanks for the reply. 565 is not available in my country. i really liked the reverse hs, no middle pickup because it always catches my pick, clean look with no pick guard and of course the colors. 550 is on sale here, so I might go for it.
In this video you have mentioned about V8 pickups and stated it as flat, 80s sounding....can we really define an Era by sound..??? Any pickup or humbucker from 80s can be used for modern sound. You also mentioned this same thing in your RG550 review video...
You absolutely can use any pickup for any style but if it's sounding the way you want it to is a different question. I use my RG550 for metal but I'm always thinking about swapping the pickups because they're not made to do that!
@@srijanguitarlife4901 Depends on the amp as well, isn't it? I like to play blues, metal, rock with RG550. Modern Metal I believe you can. Why RG550 can't do Metal?
Doesn't feel insane to me as the tension is pretty much exactly the same as it was with 42s in drop D. But yeah, I generally prefer the feel of lighter gauges even though you risk going sharp when playing heavily.

Ibanez have massive issues with fretwork on basically all their guitars, the premium/ironlabel/axionlabel line is awful and the Prestige line also have serious fretwork issues on the models with SS frets, my 2.5k RGD Uppercut needed fretlevelling and polishing to be playable and my RG in flourescent orange needed fretlevelling too, an annoying thing is it still after the levelling has one tiny spot somewhere that causes the E and B string to choke out when bending....
all made in indonesia what do you expect, maybe buy a MIJ next time, but unless you buy a signature or j custom, the other maples will have no fret edge treatment, not even the prestige maple gets it, but unlikely there will be issues with fret leveling unless is a defect guitar

@@MilianMalivukMusic because people don’t understand or know how Ibanez does things. Running the fret ends on a sanding belt like they on the maple jems takes time as it cant be done by a robot, they’re not going to do this on a $1000 guitar they’re already giving you a lot for that money. Back in the day there was no way you could get made in japan guitar with original edge bridge for 1k. They don’t even do hand filing on the maple jems, why would they do it on a budget mij guitar. Its simple economics, only j customs gets the hand treatment. The premium guitar also get hand treatment but only because labor is cheaper in Indonesia and the result is far from good. If you go ibanez website you will they no longer advertise fret edge treatment on the prestige guitar as they used to this is because they were called out by people lol they only advertise it on premium and j custom
Basswood is big part of that, but it can be an advantage too, it gives an even eq. curve good for Hi-gain pickups. I wish they would produce this 565 with a solid maple droptop (10mm. - ½") though. FWIW
80s thing is a bit flat lets be HONEST....hahahahahaahha what a subjective comment... the pick up sounds dont have anything to do with the 80s style...are hundreds of 80s picks that are not sterile ...so don't buy this Guitar ! maybe Sterile sounds putting a gtr thru software instead of an amp and pedals? :P ...the Gtr sounds great at the end of the video....

Yes that's what I then said like 30 seconds later ;)
Was the guitar in tune after all the tremolo abuse @ 0:17?
Oh it was!
i want that color code
Hello, what string size on C# tuning? :)
Almost great...The only bummer is the pickups , always hated Sock V8's/ INF/ IBZ
Killer tone!!!!
Very nice guitar. What pickups? Dimarzios?
Actually in-house pickups from Ibanez! V8 humbucker and Infinity hotrail.
@@MilianMalivukMusic Ah. Yes, I've had those. I always change out the bridge for something a little hotter with more character like a djmarzio sd3 or a Duncan custom 5 personally. Thanks man. Very cool.. Tim
Hi i bought the same guitar, it's fantastic. I also feel that the neck pickup is somewhat dark, i'm still uncertain on what to do.
Have you tried any other pickups in the neck spot?
Unfortunately no. I'm sure something from DiMarzio would be a good replacement!
Kind of liked that dark sound on them from the video! Have you changed them?
@@omegasunn I like the les Paul necks but that's it. I'll have to try the satriani models. I mostly play Deans. Fender and Charvel.
You might wanna try the AZ series, I found them to have rather chunky necks (to my own personal discomfort but you may enjoy it!)
Hey, what exactly makes thin neck uncomfortable for you? Is it because you need to curve your palm while pressing the notes? And that tires you off? Isn't the thinner neck faster for you while soloing and so? Just curious, :).
@@mylogify yes I need the curve of the neck in my palm or my hand cramps up in the thickness does not affect the speed of my soloing at all
This one or 550 NP? 🤣🤟
Wow if it was neon pink it would be perfect..
so rg 550 or 565 now that you tried both?
I find this 565 a bit more snappy that my 550. I wonder if this has something to do with the fact that the 550 has the pickups mounted to a pickguard, there's a noticeable difference in resonance if you play the guitars dry. The direct mount on the 565 sounds more dense and less "open" or "airy". In the end the difference is very small though. Wouldn't trade my 550 because of that shifting purple neon color!
@@MilianMalivukMusic . I have both and the rg565 sounds better, the guitars weight, pickup placement, different paint, they may have improved some areas since the first release of the genesis
Fanta finish
What made you decide on keeping RG550 and not this one?
Edit - Just tracked it down. The Prestige I mentioned was an RGT2020.
@@PaulSter Same here, I had a RG5120 Prestige for only a few days, I had to return it because it was very heavy about 4 kgs, also mohagony body, and made a decision on RG550, and I really love it!
@@mylogify nice!
In your opinion, which one is a better guitar overall, rg 550 or 565?

Just seeking a suggestion....if I do not change the V7 V8 in my RG550 will I be able to play modern metal and rock with eq tweaking...?
@@srijanguitarlife4901 Depends on the amp as well, isn't it? I like to play blues, metal, rock with RG550. Modern Metal I believe you can. Why RG550 can't do Metal?
hm how much is this
ah theyre prestiges
9.5-46 in drop c#….bruh I use 10-52 for that tuning lol. But we all have our preference.
9.5-46 for drop C# - that's insane, do you always play very light gauges?
Doesn't feel insane to me as the tension is pretty much exactly the same as it was with 42s in drop D. But yeah, I generally prefer the feel of lighter gauges even though you risk going sharp when playing heavily.
@@MilianMalivukMusic yeah I figured it'd be really light, do the strings not buzz because of their low tension?
@@bleh8789 No there's minimal buzz only. It works if the guitar has good fret leveling!
I bought the RG 565 Vampie Kiss when it came out 2 years later and I’m blown away with it ! I swapped the pickups out and it’s a absolute machine ! I hope Ibanez continues this trend ! They would kill it !

QC is slipping because a batch of these orange ones came out with bad paint jobs.
Ibanez f***ing +++ R-O-C-K-S +++!!!
I WISH I WAS THAT TREMOLO
I bet you do
Unfortunately no lefty love for this model. Oh well, I already have a lefty 450
become batio
geez poor trem :-( nice guitar though!!!
The Candy Red and Laser Blue are way cooler and more attractive soo I dont know why they released these two tacky colors instead. I hope they release the classic finishes sooner than later soo I can upgrade my 565 reissue to the new 565 Genesis.
The teal one may be up to taste, but I personally really like the flashyness of this orange though, even if it's not "period correct" for this guitar!
@@MilianMalivukMusic Yeah Orange > Teal for sure. Why did you buy this when you already have a 465?
@@user-dz9yx3et9y Ibanez Germany sent me this for a review and it went back to them again, it's not mine. That 456 has been long long gone already, didn't like the trem.
i would have bought the laser blue instead of the orange, but the orange is pretty cool too
@@naegleriafowleri2230 laser blue is nice I find the red to be a nice hot rod type guitar
@@naegleriafowleri2230 Literally both guitars i mentioned are MIJ dude🤔
I also have the RG565 and had to dress fret as there were dead spots across the neck, very unusual to be so uneven.
doppppe
The V8 is fine but that's all it is.
'i can't shred' LIES :O
What has pointing out sharp fret ends on a 1000 euro guitar have to do with a lack of research?
Flat tone is what defines Ibanez no kidding.
Basswood is big part of that, but it can be an advantage too, it gives an even eq. curve good for Hi-gain pickups. I wish they would produce this 565 with a solid maple droptop (10mm. - ½") though. FWIW
Too rich for my blood.
So dumb that Ibanez discontinued these already.
Sounds like put through some lame ass digital software. How can I tell anything about its sound?
80s thing is a bit flat lets be HONEST....hahahahahaahha what a subjective comment... the pick up sounds dont have anything to do with the 80s style...are hundreds of 80s picks that are not sterile ...so don't buy this Guitar ! maybe Sterile sounds putting a gtr thru software instead of an amp and pedals? :P ...the Gtr sounds great at the end of the video....
