I'm watching this in 2022.. Ocars new layout is complete, or as complete as layouts ever are. It's my Sunday morning ritual to sit down with a nice cup of coffee and watch Oscars latest video of his layout... It's ever so relaxing and so nostalgic...and always interesting..
Hello Chris, I think that many of us have made Sunday mornings with Oscar part of our routine. He did state at the beginning of this current System Six layout that it would be a temporary layout. He has now started removing this layout and as Oscars videos are always about 2 months behind the actual date it is probably gone by now. I am hoping to visit with him again before too long and I wonder what I shall see. Kind regards, David.
I’m already missing Oscars layout ! Just takes you back to the late 60s early 70s when I knew every page of the Tri-ang Hornby catalogue by heart. Excited for his new layout though which promises to be bigger and better .
Hello Russell, This layout was the quintessential Tri-ang layout that us boys of the sixties spent many hours dreaming of. I doubt that even the Tri-ang company expected many layouts like this to be built. Most of us never had the room nor the money. Though not a sixties kid himself, Oscar has fulfilled our dreams. It was a great thrill to see and operate it. I'm sure the new layout will thrill us all. Take care. Regards, David
That is/was a nice looking layout. I am glad you got to go overseas and have a great time. I know its nice to be able to look out a window to enjoy a nice freight train passing by. Thanks for sharing. Dave
Hi Dave, We all grow our layouts and quite simply Oscar had nowhere else to grow this one so he is starting again with a much larger base-board. It will be (is) quite exciting. Every season has it's advantages and for me the winter months are eased by the fact that I can watch trains with no leaves on the trees while keeping warm inside. Take care, David.
Hi Les, I've said it elsewhere in the comments but yes you are exactly right, Oscar fulfilled our childhood dreams with this layout. I, for my part had standard, series 3 and super 4 track never advancing to system 6, (until recently.) There's much more to come from Oscar I'm sure. Stay safe, David.
Good morning David what a strange year it’s been since we met. Lovely to see the old railway in action once again. Your video reminds me how great the EM2 looks in that livery. Strangely I also have the Lord Westwood out on the railway at present. Hope you enjoyed the visit and thanks for sharing. Stay safe Oscar
Hello Oscar. The year has flown by and as you say, what a strange one. Your old layout and those that came before it will always be available through the videos you have. Personally I prefer the green EM2. To me it is a BR green era loco, I relate it to the era of the A4's etc. (Couldn't imagine an A4 in that blue with yellow warning panels ugh!. lol. As I've watched my own video I have noticed just how closely the Lord Westwood resembles Hogwarts Castle, perhaps Lord Westwood influenced JK. I had so many highlights during my two visits to the UK last year and meeting you and Roberta ranks at the top. It is an experience I would like to repeat should circumstances permit. Kind regards, David.
Hi David, wow what a layout. It had a lot going on. I am so glad that you got to catch it on video before it was gone forever. Thanks for sharing. Oh by the way, I wish I could look out my window and catch trains rolling by.I have to go outside on the porch. Awesome show today....Wilmer
Hi Wilmer, It was a great layout indeed. It had been a dream for me to see it ever since finding Oscar's channel. I am so grateful to him and his lovely wife for a wonderful weekend just playing trains. Well, you know you don't have it too bad for train watching at least you can keep your slippers on while watching the switching. Think about the poor guys that live miles away from a line. Makes me shiver just to think about that. lol. Take care. David.
Hi Mike, It was such an honour to visit and see this layout. I'm a little saddened at it's loss but I'm sure Oscar will continue to entertain us with his incredible collection. Take care and stay safe Mike. All the best, David.
Hello Philip, Oscar's videos are my Sunday morning treat. Having grown up with Tri-ang, I get a trip back to my youth every week. I'm with you on the new layout, I'm sure Oscar has a plan and it is going to be great fun watching it all come together. Take care. Regards, David.
Hello John. That I think was every boys wish in the 1960's to have a layout like that. Oscar is at present, Oct 2022, building another layout that I'm sure will be incredible too. Regards, David.
Hello Michael, essentially straight off the cover of a Tri-ang catalogue in the sixties. Oscar built what most of us could only dream of. So grateful I got to see it. Stay safe. Regards, David.
Hello David , Great video , Oscar has now dismantled his layout , but if you look up , "New Zealand Triang Railways Layout" , you will see it lives on as part of our Toy collection ,as we recreated it , with a few nice modifications , Michael
Hi Art, Thank you, classic is the word to describe Oscars collecting. His new layout will feature much more from the early Tri-ang/ Hornby range I'm sure. I shall be watching his progress. Take care, David.
Hello David, that must have been an exiting trip last year, starting with Oscar Paisley's layout and so much more to come.... Thanks for sharing with us. Take care, Cheers Andy 🤠
Hello Andy, You are correct it was indeed exciting. At the time it seemed a little extravagant to be having two long holidays in the UK last year but considering what has happened this year I am glad I did it. Stay safe, regards David.
Hello Philip. There was something very special about that layout wasn't there? I miss it too. If I have understood Oscar correctly then what he is doing now is just temporary and will eventually be replaced with another Super 4 layout. Regards, David.
Hi, That was a British layout made from 1960's/70's model railway items straight from the catalogs of the time. I started with that stuff in 1958. Thank you for the sub, much appreciated. Regards, David.
Fabulous David! a great video of a classic layout!.the catenary system is (was) a real achievement..im sure Oscar's replacement will be great too...thanks for sharing this 😊 all the best, dave
Hello Dave, a layout straight off the cover of a sixties Tri-ang catalogue. It looked and worked really good and I'm sure the replacement will be even better. Take care, David.
Hi Mark, it is that heritage, that nostalgia that attracts me to this. I still have my Tri-ang Princess and most of what I had as a kid so for me, it's great to see this. Stay safe, David.
Hello Sparky. That was the layout we all dreamed of as kids growing up in the UK in the 1960's. That was one of the last outings for Bongo, he's getting a bit anxious wanting to be on the road again. Take great care, David.
Hello David, looks like the snow has all thawed away at yours, we are due our first frost here in Northamptonshire tonight apparently. I am very envious you got to have a go on Oscar's great layout there. It really was a superb layout and I can't wait to see his new one develop. Great dexterity balancing on that little wagon 😁 best regards to you
Hello Mr. Snooze, that snow and bout of cold was a bit unusual for us. We got as low as -12 c. I think with a wind chill of -14. It lasted a few days but we've had relatively warm days for a week now. +8 overnight last night and up to 11+ tomorrow before plunging into another cold snap on the weekend. It was a dream come true to see and operate Oscar's layout. Had we not been on our way to a train show I might have spent the whole day there. Bongo is well travelled and has a low centre of gravity, so balancing isn't hard for him. lol. Take care, David.
Hi Dave, yes it was a great layout but Oscar borrowed your hammer, so it's gone now. A new one is under construction though. Hope you've got a good supply of Boddintons in, the lock-down is going to be tough. At least the Koi won't be needing any mussels for a while. Stay safe, David.
Nice layout, those locos certainly get some speed up! Have you seen the Vitrual Railfan video with the 2 cameras at Revelstoke Rail Museum. If you have seen it, from the west camera view, which way is Kamloops. Is it to the right of screen? Ian.
Hello Ian, nice to hear from you. It was a beautiful layout. I often find when videoing trains that they appear to be going much faster than they actually were. I was running them at quite a moderate speed. I have looked at the Revelstoke camera. From the West cam. Kamloops is technically to the right but in reality it is more towards the centre of the screen. So trains running left to right across the screen are going towards Kamloops. By road it takes 2½ hours and probably 3½-4 for the train. Take care, David.
Looks different with someone else taking the shots of the layout , looking forward to seeing his new layout . Do the trains not wake you up ? Take care ........Peter
Hi Peter, I find that too. Everyone seems to have a style of videoing things. To answer your question, in a word "no." They used to wake us but after 35 years here we are accustomed to them. We also have very good double glazed windows. I often sit here at the computer and miss trains going by. Yes, I think all followers of Oscar's channel are excited about the new build. Stay safe, David.
Ha,Ha. CN will operate anywhere. lol. For me it's the joy of being born in one country, growing up in another and appreciating trains from all over the world. Thanks for the comment. David.

Hi David. That was a blast from the past, good to see old trains still running. Take care. Mick
Hi Mick, I absolutely love what Oscar does, preserving this history. Stay safe, David.
Brings back memories of what I wanted but never got as a kid. Never advanced to super4 track! Oscar has a great collection.

It was lovely to Oscar's old layout once more and his favourite EM2 thundering around the track. Many thanks.

Hi Digger, It was the dream layout of the 1960's, it had everything on it. I wonder what the next one will be like? Cheers Digger, take care, David.
Nice video. Although I operate a in completely different scale, I love Oscar’s channel. I miss this layout!
