Lee, your lesson brought a tear to an old man’s eye. Many years ago,(50+) I used this very lesson to tutor , young electronics students. Many hours of tutoring, sometimes in vain, but twice it was worth it. Some years passed and I got a letter, from student, inviting me to attend his graduation … As it was my fault, he had become an Electronic Engineer. About a year later a second letter came from a young sailor who had used those lessons to become an engineer and was paying off his college through the navy. Both of those young men went on to work, in defense and space programs, sadly they are deceased now … thus my eyes leaked just a little.

Thanks for the comment John, it's one of those things that helps make an abstract idea into something easy to understand. I'm sure we've all used something similar for decades and decades. Glad it brought back some fond memories.. Happy flying!

I took Basic Electronics back in 1972 at an Adult Education Class when CB Radio's were popular here in the USA. Now I'm a HAM Radio Operator/Technician.... Building Drones.... Love the concept and the analogy....! =)

I’ve learned this 45 years ago, but it’s good to freshen up my memory.
Btw, does a beer-based instead of a water based system works the same? 🧐

Yes perfectly. A keg of ale gives the same result and the clean-up is a lot more fun :D

You guys have it wrong. Beer goes in the pilot, not the quad. 🍻

Thanks for this! I do a bit of rc flying but am also looking into getting an electric car at some point and I don't understand the relationship between Watts and amps... An explanatory video on this would be gratefully received...

That sounds like a good idea! Watt = volt x amps so it's easy to figure out if you know the voltage and the current for something. Check out the video on internal battery resistance coming next month too..

Could you make another video explaining what each parameter means for LiPo batteries (such as its C & mAh values)?

Already done. Google something like 'lipo painless360' and you'll find it.. best of luck!

Im about to start a build on a hexacopter S550. I've seen a lot of your videos but you skip or I don't see anything related to VTX's, I have a eachine 1000mw 5.8ghz. I'd love to use a small camera, but can we use the better gimbal camera instead. Or with a receiver to pc for mission planner? Please do a video on video ,vtx, vtx bases what all we need for cameras gimbal etc,, thanks for all your hard work and help you do!

About other topics for your RC Basics, I would like to know what can I do to check the health of receivers (I buy second hand). Is there any software that I can run diagnostics? I have had recently several crashes due to lost of control and suspect that the receivers are failing. I do range checks but it could be a faulty or lose antenna, intermittent power or receiver hardware failure.

I would always treat second gear as faulty until it's proved me wrong. Apart from a visual inspection, range test and tests flights Im not sure if there is a test.. I'll look into it..
