I went to Walton Jr. High and Compton High. Used to swim at Compton High in the summer. Used to be able to walk up Caldwell all the way from Central past Wilmington through the Richland Farms across the canal to Alameda. Used to walk up Greenleaf through the cemetery up Central, and down Caldwell to the hole.

Cute thumbnail. Story behind that Is a young Marilyn Monroe used to love hitting the jazz clubs on Central with Ella Fitzgerald.. She also like kickin it with the brothas.😉. However, once her white Jewish producers caught wind, they shut that shit down.. The rationale was if she wanted to be a big star/ Heart throb, especially to "Middle America" she couldn't be associated with the "black and tan" club scene. Marilyn was actually a good person who came from a rough background. She just got caught up later.

I used to drive limos. I drove Kevin Costner for 4 days, during the Golden Globes week in 2013. From the time I picked him up, through the 4 days of driving him, he was down to earth and a good dude. We talked about childhood and I told him I'm from Watts. He started laughing, and said, "We're homeboys, I was born in Compton in 1956."
