- Took my 1971 Chevelle SS454 to the road course for a Track Junkies track day at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, AB. June 17, 2017.
Some new sway bars and stiffer rear springs, hoping to find some improved laptimes.

Not many videos on UA-cam of muscle cars doing racing besides going in a straight line... So thanks for this!
My pleasure, I hope to get more road course action in the future
Cool video. I can't wait for spring
I am building up a 1972 Cutlass with a 455 with the intention of taking it to road courses occasionally. How were your oil temps? Any other good tips?
I don't have an oil temp sensor, but I can tell it gets pretty darn hot. Coolant temps were low though. I always suggest making sure your brakes are up to the task. Good clean fluid, and quality high temp pads.
Nice
Sweet! Looks like the brakes worked well. I started out my 70 Chevelle build with my Sparco race seats first, with custom made super low brackets so I have room with my helmet. Also moved the seating position closer to the trans tunnel. I will have to get my videos down to a shorter length so I can upload them. I'm having trouble uploading from my phone.
I didn't push the limits of the brakes this time, so they stayed cooler than last time, but they worked good. Brake pads make a world of difference. I have a plan to improve my brake duct setup.
I very much want to see the Chevelle build. Do you have video editing software?
SS454LS6 Awesome! Well I have a video of my Chevelle that I'm about to put up late tonight. I'm really interested in your brake setup because I could use it on my 15x8 rallys and also my 19x12's and should have the same braking force as some 6 pistons. I will be making my own brake duct adapters and I can make a vid of that. Ive been looking into those AP racing J hook 11.75x1.25" rotors, do you think there is room for a bigger rotor either diameter or width? Or is it a snug fit on your 15's?
with a different caliper bracket and deeper offset rotor hat, I could run a 12.19" rotor. Which I believe is the max I could go under my keystone wheels. For anything wider there is the Nascar cup car rotors at 12.72-12.91x1.38-1.57 or so, which I couldn't fit.
Since I run different spindles, steering arms, and hubs than stock, it could be hard to replicate. Especially since I'd be running a different wheel. I know these brakes wouldn't fit behind my old 15x7 SS wheels.
What sort of performance monitor do you have on the dash?
Traqmate. They went out of business though. There are some decent phone apps or you could look into a Vbox.
@@SS454LS6 thanks for info.
Great job!!!! any time you can drive the car to and from the track is a great time at the track!!!! Do you know someone with 4 corner scale? Get the car weight on all four corners!!!
Thank. I do know someone, me haha. I plan to re-scale it this year, which of course I'll make a video of.
