I love this video, I wrote a little warm-up for our Bass Bones from some of the stuff he played. I'm looking for a new Bass from Edwards because Charlie played them for so long.
After 11 years now, I have to ask you. Did it help? Are you now playing just like Charlie Vernon because you took some random stuff he played while trying out the trombones and made a warm-up out of it? Also does playing Edwards trombones and practicing exactly the same things as Charlie Vernon make you play the same as Charlie Vernon?
@bassposaunen Just a question for you. Last winter I heard the Chicago Symphony and Charlie was using a single valve bass trombone. I think it was German but I don't know. Just wondering if you know?
oh ok... cos i played on a getzen b4 n on an edwards now... both looks the same... just that they uses different connectors for the bell flare n slide receiver.
oh, and if he's able to switch diff brands slide onto that bell, it might not be a getzen... unless that bell has a universal slide receiver installed instead of the original getzen slide receiver.
The DEFINITIVE symphonic bass trombone sound of our time
jesus.....at the beginning....the clarity of those tongued pedal Cs...its insane
Im 11 years late but i agree
Really cool to hear how good he is just "messing" around
He is something special, and it's always such a thrill to hear his remarkable playing and unique sound when he's on stage with the Chicago Symphony.
My father is good friends with Charlie and just had lunch with him about a week ago. I got to come and meet him :).
Who do you think ur kiddin?! It's your great-uncle's nephew that's good friends with Charlie.
damn, so clean with that 4 octave arpeggio and he plays the C5 lik nothing...well, that what low register helps you with!
So much tone
Charlie is a machine! :-)

io amo questo sound grande maestro !
I'm incredibly jealous of you. Props. Not just anyone makes it to being his student
Muito bom que som! made in Brazil
@brasstrombone9 He owns a crap ton of trombones from what I know and the CSO occasionally uses German instruments for certain sets
the living legend
@yorkbrunner i think its a form of an arpeggio
I think its a Getzen bass trombone with axial flow valves, now.

I played an Edwards with a Bach 50 slide before I finally got my Bach LT50T3GL, to at least the Bach and Edwards are interchagable
No decent brass instrument is made in Brasil!
@DancingSpacePotato hes playing on an edwards
oh ok...

that´s no Rath but a Bach with Hagmann valves. Rath don´t have that slide-bell system.
Aah, I wish i sounded like that!
did he switch from a bach 50A3o to a shires bell with the bach light weight slide?
I believe at the moment his equipment is a Bach NY Bell and tuning slide, shires axial section, and edwards slide with no oversleeves
oh, and if he's able to switch diff brands slide onto that bell, it might not be a getzen...

what horn does he have?
ooh...
didnt know he played on a rath b4...
would love to try a rath bass bone~
It’s not a Rath trombone.
and switch back to a shires normal weight slide?
like this guy
or was it an edwards with custom engravings on the bell? ^^
Yes, I think it’s an Edwards.
Bass boss😎
cool story, bro.
