- It's ya'll lucky day because we're back! On episode 36 we discuss Doknow's birthday party, March 11th being "Latina History Day", Latinos being underrepresented in the census, an inmate in LA county jail named Wizard having a live banda, taquiza and a party for his birthday, Nintendo world coming to Universal Studios Hollywood, new Selena music on the way, that one foo playing hide and seek with the cops, Bad Bunny, Missy Elliot drama and much more.
Glad to see the growth of this podcast.. well deserved!
On the topic of the census … when the census person came to my house and asked me all the questions. When we got to ethnicity and race. He asked my Ethnicity and of course I said Hispanic/ Latino but when we got to the race question he said most people choose white. He tried to answer for me. I know he was trying to be helpful but I said no Native American. He didn’t realize by me answering that, that there was going to be an additional question. The question being the location of your indigenous roots. The answer you can choose is Aztec / Mayan etc.
Brownbag is literally the only podcast I go out of my way to listen to. good shit!!

Letti you are so right, the Caucasians do know those words. I read this book by Prisca Rodriguez; For Brown Girls with Sharp Edges and Tender Hearts. In the book it speaks about how valuable information is used with terminology/words that we were not brought up with. That is done purposefully, to keep us out of the loop, to keep us small, in the dark of what is going on in our country and/or not progress. With that, we need to make sure that do translate for our communities but also learn it. Thank you for being this topic up, I love the podcast.
