I flew with Skytraxx 2.0 over three years, I sold it and try to fly with smartphon (xc track) only. I didn,t like this solution. I want to buy 2.0 again, but 2.1 was only on the market. Flying with 2.0 was very good, Now with 2.1 is PREFECT ! :)
Well I just found out I will need a protector harness, PMR and FLARM to be allowed to fly at the next bigger paragliding spot. For a beginner it is quite hard to overlook all those different regulations. A closer look to the available devices is sobering, there aren't a lot to choose from and they are at a quite high price point. Beacon starts at 200 € and with RX, screen and vario you are at 600 € +. I already thought about a DIY solution, which would be way under 50 € with the only downside of not having fly zone maps. On the other hand, you don't have to mess up with config files if you buy something like a Skytraxx, just turn on the device and fly.
Greg, will you do one on the new version (4.0) all the reviews I have found are in German. Which I do not speak. The way the 2.1 handles tracking thermals is really nice.
Does it produce a fully validated tracklog with G and C records? From a correctly set up and executed (declared) competition route I can see no C record and gpsdump rejects the file as not a valid G record. Thanks
Yes and Yes ... it didn't do the C and had a reversion update buggered the g a bit. Now ... all sorted. Jurgen/Skytraxx were great, The Nov 2020 update answered my requests for sorting the g and adding a c record plus tidying up the comp waypoints. I've done quite a lot of testing against my Flymaster ....I'm torn. Really, only the Fanet/FLARM of the 2.1 is the difference, the vario is more settled and the Flymaster designer adds a lot (for me) ...plus more fields and features for the FM. I may end up keeping both.
@@flybubbleparagliding is it possible to use 2.1. as external vario sensor on Android XC Track?....as a OTG USB cable connection?..... So therefore I could option e.g. final glide, color screen and loads of benefits of XC Track!
Did you look at the ‘forwarding’ function? In the manual it says you could make a hotspot on your cellphone and use vario, themalling and even flarm data in XCTrack, but I couldn’;t figure it out... O yeah, final glide? Nice review btw ;-) The future update with townnames (or even more info?) would be very nice.
Actually, I just figured it out and it works! You just have to fill in: 10110 under UDP port (connection and sensors in XCTrack) et voila! Of course first you have to make a hotspot on your cellphone and connect it via ‘forwarding’ (NMEA) on your Skytraxx.
@@Larzemensch thanks for the hint. And have you tried to make livetracking using your skytraxx and hotspot? I've read that is possible, but failed attempting to do it.
I wish I could have it but for me it's too expensive solution. I mean Skytraxx for visuals and something else for sound (this in skytraxx is terible - cacofony).
I'd love to see a comparison with the XC Tracer maxx.
Can you review the Skytraxx 4.0? and let us know what the main differences are compared to the 2.1 and whether its worth almost double the price?

Any plan on reviewing the Skytraxx 3.0? I figured the main difference is the color screen, is the remaining functionality the same? Thanks!

Does it do final glide please (no mention in the description of your shop website)?

Is it just as good for hang gliding? I can't seem to find any mounts or mounting information for hangs.
I wish they had bumped the update rate on the screen a bit in the new one.
But then it would eat through batteries.
any easy way to mount the Skytraxx 2.1 on your risers?
@@flybubbleparagliding great - many thanks for the advice. Looking for 1st vario so still lots to learn!
How to buy ?
Visit our Flybubble website 🥳
It seems that it doesen't have bluetooth but it does have wifi. Will it work with XCtrack by the wifi connection?

you can choose the audio profile from the menu so it sounds the way you like.
