To explain the AI voice thing with Scotty and June a bit for those who don't know, they purchased the rights to use their voices in an ai model before the game ever publicly used them, I personally feel that this shows Embarks intelligent use of new technology but doing it in an ethical manner. Also i am a certified finals glazer, this game has absorbed my life for the last year, (even more than a year due to the betas) PLAY THE FINALS!
AI usage is one of my few complaints of the game. Humans add more value and soul. They've probably spent more time and money fixing the janky AI voices than it would've cost to pay voice actors.. 💀 They keep releasing trailers with broken AI voices. 🤡

For the Algorithm; I love this game, probably the only shooter I've played in recent memory that actually keeps me hooked. The combination of not taking itself too seriously, while making sure youre immersed in the game world, the destruction, the fact that every match feels unique while still letting you learn & out play teams, the chaos of almost always having to think of a third party team (and using them to your advantage). This game is great if you're willing to give it a solid try, you'll suck at first, but once you start to master stuff, you'll have a great time. Reach The Finals.
Ok, so, pausing at 13:40 to make this comment- I started actually getting good at the finals when I started playing support as a dual blades/healing beam medium. Got thousands of support score every match and was super effective at it. I soon got addicted to the grapple that the light has, and was zipping around the map with a double barrel, getting tons of kill while both my teammates were dead, 200 meters behind me as I started the cashout alone. I was good at the fps part, but I wasn't good at the finals part. I've since learned and I still play light, just pretty much every weapon they have along with dash, but I also get plenty of support score from reviving my teammates because I'm a good teammate now and I actually win games :D TLDR- don't be a dick, you cannot in fact solo the whole game. Lights have mobility, use that to safely rez your team.
@Kotasake The main reason people were mad was because they wanted things to be exclusive, but exclusivity creates FOMO which is a bad thing for players. I think they should continue to release the more popular BP outfits to the shop but also keep some things exclusive so players can flex (the bonus pages would be perfect for exclusives)
Giving lights less movement speed would be a devestating blow, they allready nerfed lights movement when S1 came out and i'm very sure they will not change that
Algo comment, but yeah, despite how little I play video games, the Finals is one of the few that have kept my attention for so long. Great video and great intro!
It had a lot of traction at launch but they made some questionable balance choices that drove off a lot of players, cheater issues. I quit for several reasons around then
What could really sell the finals to the wider audience would be esport scene, but that would draw it more towards that 'sweaty' side, for better or worse. Then again you have stuff like r6siege which is highly esport and you still have operators like fuze that feel 100% shits and giggles
@@daruma7198 These two are opinions and to add to that, balance has never been better and 'meta' has never been more vague. You can pull off with craziest builds and have fun with that. Even lights have never been more useful.

W video. I agree with almost everything you said. I personally do not have much trouble with lights as they cook up quite nicely with my Cerberus, but I digress as I realize the discussion goes much deeper as you stated. Got my like/sub!
The music slowly creeping up gave me goosebumps😂😂. But your right, the finals is hands down the best most unique FPS we’ve had in years and deserves wayyyy more love!!
I love The Finals so damn much. Most fun I've had with a PVP game since TF2. The destruction is so amazing and super innovative, can't get an experience like taking down an entire building while defending a cashout anywhere else. Heavies charge is one of the best abilities in any game ever! Plus the cosmetics are simply amazing. And hell yeah, the OST for the game is great, just so great.
I think the problem about light is mainly just because light is simply faster to get from A to B. They have the opportunity to engage first and people don’t have a lot of self control when it comes to shooting enemies. Which gives the impression that they don’t care about their team more because they have more opportunities to ignore it. They also don’t have the fortification abilities of other classes, so that’s an inherently team-supportive role they cannot choose to fill. The AI voices are trained on specific voice actors who were paid for their work.
this game just combines so many shooter aspects since the history of FPS games and polishes them to perfection. the single most captivating and fun game. for me at least.
The one major thing that keeps me in the game is that matches are not over till the clock runs out. Many times in a knockout round my team was playing poorly, but we never gave up and was able to clutch the round at the end, punch our ticket to the final round and end up winning the tourney.
As someone who enjoy both having fun and being a sweat machine, I'd love to keep world tour as a fun wacky mode with meta adjustments being more rapid and Ranked to be the way it is
I have been getting back into the Finals since it first launched because I had a lot of performance issues running the game on my PC at the time. My friends started to play and enjoy it lately and I decided to join in and have been having quite a blast. Seeing the nuking tech get removed is a bummer, it was quite fun but I understand how annoying it could have gotten for most players. If I were to balance it, I would have the C4 add weight to the object so that it reduces the throwing distance and offset the mass for objects like the explosive canister to not move in a straight line. Also only allow props to have 1 C4 attached at a time.
Nah I would argue that it IS almost a masterpiece AS a free to play game within the last 10 years. It simply scratches an itch as a first person shooter that only games like Battlefield, Titanfall and Apex have been able to do
The finals is a blessing. It reminds me so much of hyperscape but less boomer shooter and more COD, its just completely refreshing, best way to describe it for me. I hope it sticks around for a long time so we can get alot of cool content and game modes.
Idk but can someone explain to me how this game is sooo "fluid" ? Movement shooting is sooo smooth it feels amazing ? I don't feel the same when I play PUBG or CS or anything, ok Apex is maybe a bit similar but physics, weight etc is just amazing and on another level in The Finals.
Gonna comment in hopes this spreads more. I fucking adore The Finals with it being my first official FPS on PC and sparked my desire to get better at the genre. I just hope more people give the game a try and stick around for a bit
My favorite part about the finals is that it is at its most fun in casual. Like I love sweating in ranked but any time I have a bad game, the casual modes are there for straight tomfoolery. Seriously doe if start this game ignore ranked and just enjoy the other modes, and eventually when you figure out the mechanics and tactics then give ranked a look.
7:45 They're halfway there already. You gain more multibucks from completing a battle pass than the pass itself costs, so you can effectively keep your pass active from one season to the next as long as you don't spend everything you earn from it.
when first time seeing this game, I really love seeing real environment destruction mechanic in FPS games, and I thought it would be really fun. But I need to wait months after release to play it because I don't have device powerful enough back then. Played it in October 2024 during halfway Season 4 and I'm not wrong about the fun this game has. Easily the most fun shooter game I've played all the time. And what I love from this game's Season Pass is, if you bought current Season Pass, you will get enough multibucks to purchase next season's Season Pass without spending another money
The one thing I’ll never forgive myself for is not grinding the full season 2 battle pass out and getting the roulette wheel Lewis gun. It was the whole reason I got the pass in the first place but there were major issues with balance back then. Now I’m playing the game every single day over anything because it feels fun to play and satisfying to grind. (Still thinking about that gun every single day tho😭)
Also!! The mid season patch has changed the balance of the game between ranked and regular game modes which helps a lot!! I do think the battle passes should be no deadline and there should 4-5 events per match in casual
I feel the same way about most of what you said. The game is fun, intense, strategic and goofy Your take on lights I disagree. The health and speed differences between classes in The gam are what make the game feel balanced and fun. Tanks actually feel tanky, and lights really have to rely on their skills, tools, and wits to stay alive and be useful, kind of like Tracer in Overwatch. Taking down heavies as a light feels like a real David and Goliath moment, which makes it super satisfying. The toxic nature of lights, feels more like a cultural thing than a game design issue, and I’m not sure how Embark could fix that nor wouldn’t want to. If you lessened the gap between health and speed, it would either make all the classes feel the same or disrupt the purposeful and reward aspect of specializing in a class. Lights aren’t more overpowered than medium and heavies that both have weapons that can one shot a lights. All about playing to their strengths.
I actually have read up on the topic of the VA's deal with the ai in the finals. They were actually well compensated an get residuals for their voice samples. The second thing I'd like to point out about the ai announcers is that it's an aesthetic choice as well. I'm essentially the person who started the conspiracy theory that scotty an june aren't real people in game an are part of the ai that runs the show. I can't help but feel that with the return of CNS in s6 we're going to have that plot point uncovered officially.
While I prefer THE FINALS from a more competitive perspective, and am NOT a fan of the events that drastically alter the gameplay (looking at Low Gravity specifically cuz of how much it effs over the MGL and melee weapons), I agree with most of your points. But we have different perspectives. For example, the way you say "when I OCCASIONALLY get the itch to play PvP FPS games" is the opposite of me, I prefer having a PvP FPS game as my main thing, and I don't enjoy other experiences quite as much, so it's refreshing to finally have a not-slop FPS game to put my focus and heart into. But it's a testament to how good the game is, that a gamer like you and a gamer like me can play the same game and have a great time.
These are all good talking points. I played the open betas but came back during season 4. This game might need class balances but besides that is PERFECT
Lights are an anomaly, because I feel its a balance of people complaining about lights being to op, and then also vice versa. I'm no where near the best player, I'm literally in the 5k kill bracket with 6k deaths. For me personally I don't think lights are that to hard deal with, only exception is dash swords are a bit tricky. My most wins are on lights, they're the only gold class win badge I have, however I've started to play heavy and medium more (both silver win badges now). They can definitely compete with lights just by having a health adv. It's speaking the obvious, but the best way to tackle any struggles against opposition is literally just playing like a team. In that sense, I think for the most part the game is finely tuned this season, and usually coordinating as a team gets you the easy W. I'm usually duo stack cos we don't have a consistent online 3rd friend (sometimes we got friends who will play but most of the time we're a duo), I feel like a lot of people play solo, or a lot of people who struggle with the game play solo. Not saying solo can't carry but it significantly more harder as a 1 man than a team. If people weren't so toxic, I think we'd get more mics and open comms when playing with randoms, this can lead to squads ups and future Ws. Tbf this all from a world tour take, I'm E4 atm I think and once I've hit E1 I'll move onto rank. Maybe rank is completely different and just not a fun time but I'll see for myself when I get there. I do hear there's a lot of sweaty light in QC, ppl should just play WT, its basically casual rank. No points lossed when losing, its why I try to hit max rank on there first before rank. Just time consuming.
i'm very sure more people left the finals because of nukes than their removal. Getting team wiped by a single attack from a 350 hp class just wasn't fun.
The Finals, is litterally digital Crack. Go try and listen to BLOODY BEETROOTS - DOMINO(radio edit) while playing, i can assur you, you will clutch 25% more
Finals is so good. Truly an original in a sea of cynical shovelware. Anything else in the PvP FPS genre today is a complete waste of time. If you value your time, you'd be playing the finals.
I more or less played around the game since closed beta 2 (couldn't play the open beta because of an issue with Embark's ID thing which I'm still mad about) and only recently started putting most of my time in this game near the end of season 3 (that XP event was why I managed to get the battle pass for that done as well as one page of the bonus stuff and got the circuit rewards in time too) and been enjoying this game more than most PVP shooters I've played since Overwatch 1 at launch. My only criticism so far that we both share is the inability to purchase previous battle passes, which is pants on head stupid. Embark should take a page from Halo Infinite and make all passes available to purchase and make more money that way but that would require for them to use their brains a bit more which they are horrible at in the first place. As for the AI voice thing, IIRC both VAs for Scotty and June gave the go ahead for Embark to use their respective voices for AI stuff, similar to how CDPR got the go ahead for Victor Vector's polish VA's estate to use AI for that voice since the original man passed away and also James Earl Jones selling his voice to Disney/Star Wars for Darth Vader prior to his passing too. Stuff like that doesn't bother when all parties are cool with it and AFAIK they get revenue as the game continues. Could be wrong though. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk lol. And fuck lights that are dicks, I don't troll whenever I play as light, I do try to help my team no matter what.

Easily the best FPS in a long long time and the first gameplay/destruction to actually look like the trailer does🤯
W but devs add FSR 3.1.3 upscale
It's the only game I've actually felt passionate about
When a game feels Next Gen 🤌
We need more collab in The Finals
Great video!
The music slaps
the finals will be the game too take over
nice vid bro
watching this video while playing some quick cash on SYS Horizon
Hands down the worst light player to encounter is the sniper light.
It was a good video! Collected and fact checked too, well done, that was interesting to listen to. 🏆
Anyone who put it down in season 1 (2-3 even) should try it out now. Much more balanced than ever
Great video. Love this game!
If only the devs realized they could have just added vehicles a 2 team conquest mode and have you look like real soldiers.
Yea for sure, this game is very fun!
Dude. Nukes HAD to go.
yeah he doesnt understand
I’m gonna have to hop back in.
i'm very sure more people left the finals because of nukes than their removal. Getting team wiped by a single attack from a 350 hp class just wasn't fun.
The Finals, is litterally digital Crack. Go try and listen to BLOODY BEETROOTS - DOMINO(radio edit) while playing, i can assur you, you will clutch 25% more
Just f ing go play the game it's free 🆓🆓🆓 and fun and beautiful (great video man)
THE FINALS is the best pvp shooter in the past decade or more
Finals is so good.
I just like how there isnt really a meta just play with what ever, you can use any tool any way you want
