- As the title says and you guessed it, it's about hybrid horns! But which one is your favorite of the 5 different variants? That is the real question. I have been lucky enough to have hear all 5 of these horn variants in the span of just above 6 months so half a year. The first catch in this video, I was completely unaware what train it was or what was leading until I heard its horn. I knew straightaway what it was and I hit the record button. The second one I barely got to that spot in time so that is why it feels rushed. The third catch is of a empty military train destined for Fort Bragg to be loaded up and I chased it going past Murchison Road since it parallels that line. The fourth one I would have missed if I didn't receive a heads up about it from a railfan in Pembroke and telling me what the leader was. I stayed behind for another 40-50 minutes for it because I had been trying to get CSX 969 for the longest time and then my opportunity finally arouse and I took it head on. The fifth catch I originally saw on the Folkston cam. It was CSX 5284 leading Q034, a peak season intermodal and once I heard that horn blasting past the cam, I knew I had to get it that night which I did. Fun Fact! Both CSX 5284 (Q034) and CSX 5288 (Q603) both lead a train through Folkston in the same day within a 9 hour period. That is a feat within of itself to whoever got both and is considerably rare since both of those units are the only ones on the CSX locomotive roster with K5HLB's. One of my close friends, @Anna's Adventures (I'll link her channel below) was staying in Folkston at the time and caught 5288. We found it pretty cool that we both 1 of the 2 locomotives on the roster with K5HLB's. Hearing 5288's narrow font K5HLB in her video that she sent into a group chat we're in, I knew I had to see that lead. Well, that goes into my final catch that I managed to get only 2 months. The same railfan who gave me a heads up on CSX 969 is the one who gave me a heads up on W045, a combined MOW train, with CSX 5288 leading. I of course, hightailed it to the A-Line and got it with minutes to spare. It has been a long time coming making this video but I finally had the time to make it and I have to say that I really like this one. I hope you enjoy today's video! As much as I love the K5HLB on 5284, that K5HLA on 938 damn near has it beat. Damn that thing is hot.
Yessir! 938 over time, especially after putting this video together has become one of my favorites. 5284 was very much up there for me as well but after chasing 938, it may have just edged it out for me
I loved the K5HLB on 5288 ... Saved the best for last ....
That’s one of my favorites too
in the distance 39's K5HLA sounded like a K5LA.
Pretty much, just the added 1L bell that gives it a deeper tone too
My favorite is 5284 and 969, but I'm so glad I saw 5288 leading
Understandably so. Oh sweet!
Good video sir, especially at Jasper St.

@@CaptainJustice166 somebody recommended me to watch you. The Amtrak emergency video of the auto train. The engineer was a local person in our community. You really do great videos!
Sweet video!
Thank you!
You forgot the 2nd gen K5hla..
Didn’t get one of those till recently which was CSX 808. I’ll try and get to that at some point hopefully 👀
@@CaptainJustice166 There’s also Csx 810 that has a K5hla now which is a 2nd gen too!
