When the sport of figure skating had beauty, elegance, artistry , heart and Soul. This magical ice Queen epitomises everything that is magical about the sport.
OH MY GOODNESS. Such a beautiful, interpretive performance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She tells you the story of the songs, effectively giving you those parts of the movie itself, and the final spin was so gorgeous! I teared up a little :-)
Thanks for posting this performance. It used to be available on UA-cam, but disappeared at some point. I think this performance in particular is the best she ever gave of Pocahontas, so I'm quite happy to see that it's available for viewing once again. :)
I love this performance so much! I know the program inside out lol definite all time favourite skater! followed by sasha and yuna! Music takes me back aswell!
Interesting that Tara performed her Nationals and World championship performance while everyone else pretty much did show routines...that being said, I LOVE Michelle's Pocohontas here and did from the lst time I saw it...a beautiful end to her 1996-97 season which was of course a very difficult one for her (and us)
I'm actually A fan of both skaters. I certainly enjoy this performance I would have liked to see both michelle's, and Kristie's back to back for comparison.
Presentation should have been all 5.9's if not 6.0. I get that they were leaving room for Kristi, but come on--a couple 5.8's for all that feeling that Michelle just poured onto the ice? Um, no.
1:12, looks like they'll enter a boxing competition, LOL. and Yuka Sato's look was like, I don't wanna get punched. But all three are great skaters though =)
Gosh, I read somewhere many, many years ago the reason why Lori didn't use "Colors" was because the team --- Michelle, Frank, and Lori --- didn't want to use conventional or over-used music. That's why from '96 to '01, when Lori was the main choreographer, Michelle's music choices were very eclectic and seldom-heard.
The most important and greatest skater in her era. One of the greatest skaters in the history. A legend, an artist, Michelle Kwan.

The most beautiful and transcendent skating I have seen in my entire life. No one can top this. No one.
Exactamundo, hit the nail in the head.
HONEY!!!!! She gave you Pocahontas!!!!! I thought I was watching the movie
Yaaassssssss a movie I like that girl
I miss watching Michelle on the ice so much. She truly is a legend.
The beautiful, sweet, talented ice Princess who became the GOAT.
I remember watching this live as a little kid ❤
The makeup and costume are perfect! She looks amazing here. It's an underrated performance! :)
I've always been sort of a Michelle fan, but I got chills in this performance. It was soo full of feeling!
Wow!!! One of the Great Skater🌹
This is the time that Michelle really skated with her heart
This is the reason why figure skating is the most beautiful sport in the world.
The ending is so beautiful! You can see the emotion in her body!
Even though I dont skate I have always wished to. But her passion inspires me
beautiful..... the ending.. so perfect.

The song playing in the clip is "Children" by Robert Miles.

Amazing!! :)
i wish i could skate that well. my skills are pathetic at best.
And I cant even skate without falling 20 times every minute
Thank you so much for putting this back on youtube. I've never been able to find the result of this competition online. I assume Michelle won?
TheWishfulDreamer Yes, Michelle won.

zajebiście ! ; )
I haven't seen this in such a long time. I remember Kristi fell in this event. Do you have that too?
i want to skate like this one day!:) **Sigh** hahaha

I love how they milk the hype of the Yamaguchi vs Kwan match up. Nobody does it like U.S TV or NBC (this is NBC right).
Did she get moved from second to first?
Lauren Brown Yes. She won gold.
Should've danced to Colors of the Wind
Pretty sure she didn’t want to offend the judges who were white. 😬Non-controversial
