I’ve always loved the concept of this song. They created the greatest song ever, can’t remember it anymore, it sounded nothing like this one, this was just a tribute. Jack Black is a comedic genius and rock legend.
Only that small blip, which is epic and sounds somewhat like baroque counterpoint; I bet they were channeling the son of God himself...Bach, that is.
I mean, if the tribute is this good, the song it's a tribute to must be out of this world.

The song that primarily inspired Tribute was actually 'One' by Metallica, at the time of making tribute One was at its peak, so its both inspired by Stairway to Heaven and One

Also. Dave was the drummer in Nirvana. After the band broke up he formed the Foo Fighters and is the lead singer/guitar player in that group. Pretty good stuff.

Fun fact. In the original HBO special there is a short section where they actually play a small tib bit of the riff to Stairway to Heaven. They changed it on the album version for obvious reasons. Definitely give both the movie and the HBO specials a watch it's so worth it!
0:55 There was also a first version of the video from them HBO show. You can tell they played the intro of "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin - also mentioned in the movie "The Pick of Destiny"
You've gotta hear the album, it is brilliant catchy and hilarious. At Download a couple of years ago in between bands, we just broke out into this song. Mustve been about 20,000 of us singing it (not everyone unfortunately but a sizable chunk!). One of those songs where everyone of that generation just knows the lyrics. Glad you enjoyed it.

Listen to the version from their HBO show, hell watch the whole series. The part where they start "look into my eyes and it' easy to see" is completely different and is actually the opening part of Stairway to Heaven.

I think that the origin, or at least the inspiration of this song came from the Devil Trill Sonata in G Minor by Giuseppe Tartini (1692-1770).
Tartini allegedly told the French astronomer Jérôme Lalande that he had dreamed that the devil had appeared to him and had asked to be Tartini's servant and teacher. At the end of the music lesson, Tartini handed the devil his violin to test his skill, which the devil began to play with virtuosity; delivering an intense and magnificent performance. So singularly beautiful and executed with such superior taste and precision, that the composer felt his breath taken away.
Mesmerized by the devil's brilliant and awe-inspiring playing, Tartini attempted to recreate what he had heard. However, despite having said that the sonata was his favorite, Tartini later wrote that it was "so inferior to what I had heard, that if I could have subsisted on other means, I would have broken my violin and abandoned music forever."
So even though he's heard the best song in the world, and tried to recreate it, he was unable and thus what he made was but a Tribute...
For anyone who loves this song you owe it to yourself to play Brutal Legend. So fantastic.

Just caught up with your two Nightwish reactions, both epic songs. And Ghost Love Score is one of my all time faves by them. If you like both of them, you should check out The Greatest show on earth from their latest album. Heard it live when I saw them on tour early this week and it is just as incredible as the two you've already done. Also for the full Nightwish experience you need to check out a song of either Dark Passion play (I recommend the opening track, s that is just epic) or Imaginaerum and for that I recommend either 'Storytime' or Last ride of the day. As those albums featured the 2nd of the 3 singer the band have had.

Hey man really enjoy the energy you put into your videos, been watching for a while now over here in New Zealand. I have a request if you want to try something unique I'd recommend watching the music video to Kaitangata by Alien weaponry, these guys are a teenage trio (literally 16-18) from New Zealand making waves in the metal world currently on a North American tour opening for Ministry. They combine thrash metal with Te reo Maori which is our indigenous language in NZ so I recommend getting some translated lyrics.

The whole album is freaking awesome.
A few Extremely interesting and little Known facts. Prior to getting they’re HBO SHOW Jack and Kyle started on a different HBO comedy show as supporting actors called, MR SHOW WITH BOB AND DAVE. Now the interesting part of that is there was another supporting comedy actor on MR SHOW who went on to become one of the most legendary Rock/Metal vocalist of all time. That supporting actor is Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan. There’s even a skit in one of the MR SHOW episodes where Maynard portrays the lead singer of a fictional metal band named Pucifer !!!
