It's coming up to 4 years since the launch of the ctrl-alt-rees UA-cam channel. I had an offer on an extra studio space that I couldn't refuse - so the channel is expanding!

Huge congrats, Rees! Hardly anything more exciting than a new space for old tat 😁
Looking forward to seeing future videos being made here, it's always reinvigorating being able to create with fresh surroundings.
Thanks Clint, it most certainly is reinvigorating. I've been having a lot of fun working out how to use the space and have made a lot of progress since this was recorded. Looking forward to getting in there and working on some projects! 😁
Space is THE issue with this hobby. With rent and real estate keep getting more expensive, it's a real problem. More storage boxes is what works for most of us LOL
More boxes and just stuffing things in the attic honestly.
I've even been contemplating making my garage completely weatherproof so I can store things there ;)
Indeed, storage boxes have been my solution for the longest time, as you can see! I'm hoping to use this as an opportunity to sort and move some things on, but I think inevitably it just gives me room for even more stuff...
@@ctrlaltrees Yes, once you have more room the parts just seem to come even faster!
Nice Scirocco. And you lifted that PET like it was nothing!
This is incredible, love watching the progress. You have come a long way. Big congratulations Reese. I can't believe your current space is 4 times smaller compared to the new one!
You have accumulated so much stuff over the years, wow! Looking forward seeing videos from this new location. Cool car BTW.
And did I see an Atari ABC in the background on top of the PC3? 😉 /|\
Haha, good eye! The ABC will be featuring in a future video 😁
This new set of digs signals the swift march to 25k! Followed by the inevitable surge to 250k! Well earned! The ZX81 was my father's first computer, so I look forward to seeing more!
You were definitely outgrowing the house. :) Great stuff!
4:45 This CRT on the top of the Arcade gives me chills. Looks like one little accidental kick or push of the cabinet and it is going to end up shattered on the floor :)
Oh yes, tell me about it! This is why I need extra space so I can store stuff properly 😁
Great news Rees. I can really see how this extra space is going to help you with storage and must surely make it easier to work on new projects.
Just think how much it will improve my Atari 2600 throughput 😬
@@ctrlaltrees 🤣🤣🤣
What an amazing space with so much potential.
Always the biggest issue with any hobby (maybe not stamp collecting), cannot wait to see what you do with it.
Ha! Perhaps I should have gone into stamp collecting... 😁
Good luck with the extra space! I'm quite jealous, as space for my hobby is a constant battle in my house. Let us know how you figure out what to do with it all, as I doubt I could plan an efficient use out of the gate.
That's so cool, congratulations! One thing I would say, please make insurance and security your number one priority. Looks like you've already got some cherished items in there, and that building is pretty recognisable. I learned the insurance lesson the hard way for my business!
Sorry to hear that. 😔
Thankfully security is very good at the site as there's an IT business there with a lot of high value equipment. There's no public access out of hours and it's alarmed and covered in CCTV. But I hear you, insurance is definitely in my future plans. You can never be too careful.
@@ctrlaltrees Sounds good! In my case it was a fire caused by a cheap Amazon extension lead that did it for me in the middle of the night! I would say I still think it's worth investing, because you never think it's going to happen until you lose everything. Even if it's just a couple of Wifi cameras that you can monitor from home.
I'll stop going on about it now 🙂
No, please do! The landlord recommended that I put my own wifi camera in place so that's high on the priority list.
Well done, Rees-well deserved and a culmination of a lot of effort. My biggest issue right now is indeed lack of space.
Great space! I am not jealous at all. 🙂 You did mention the s* word, let's hope people won't start asking questions about the solar setup of this building. 😀
Ha! The landlord did offer to explain it all to me but he's very much against the idea of being interviewed on video about it all 😅
It seems like all my favorite UA-camrs are moving on up! Congrats on the new space
That's awesome Rees. Huge congrats.
Thanks Chris, next time you're over I'd be happy to show you around 😁
@@ctrlaltrees that would be awesome.
Very cool Rees! Happy to see your channel grow into a new space. 🎉 Very excited for you! I know you'll make good use of it.
Great to see the new space, looking good! Congrats in that!
Movin on up!!! Congrats on the new space.
Oh man, congratulations! This sort of thing is a dream come true for many of us!
Exciting times ahead! Well done Rees.
Ah great, perhaps you'll be able to start supporting more Atari community projects. There's always a lot going on in the ST community hardware world and I keep hoping that you'd bring it to a wider audience since you're probably the biggest Atari UA-camr. We even had a local Atari get together called Cyberlegends recently but it got no coverage or advertising from any Atari UA-cam channels, it's such a shame. Anyway good luck to the future.
Agreed, I must admit I'm a bit all over the place with this stuff and I do have an ideal platform to put more of a spotlight on the Atari community here in the UK. I was aware of Cyber Legends but unfortunately I'd already made plans for that weekend. It's actually fairly local to me as well. I'll pencil it in for next year as it would be good to give it some coverage.
What a cool ex boss, congratulations on this and hope the best!
He's a lovely guy, very supportive. I think he's keen to have a computer museum on site as he's into all of this stuff himself 😁
Looks good. Rents seem reasonable right now but business rates tend to be off putting for most. Good luck with it.
Im so sorry.. Mrs Rees has finally thrown you out.. it was always going to happen.
That reminds me, I really need a bed in this space...
Watch out, as we've seen from another channel there's no such thing as renting part of a bigger space 😉
I give it a year before you're renting the whole building 😅
😂 so true!
I'll be shaving my head next
NIce!
You moved all of your retro stuff into a building which is two minutes from your house....
ok so you have a literal retro man cave. Neil is absolutely fuming right now.
Ha! Neil has been really helpful actually, he's given me some good advice... Just don't call it a cave! 🤣
@@ctrlaltrees lol , if he can get past his anger and talk through gritted teeth (just kidding he's probably happy for you)
Tardis under bed storage
I for one fully endorse the rise of Ctrl-Alt-Fishbowl. Bring on the apple crates.
🐟🐠🐡
Wobble that table!
I can see the wobbly table becoming a thing
@@ctrlaltrees It's your own version of Neil's "Big Chair". If you're doing a video from "Wobbly Table", you know it's for a serious or important chat.
I'm thinking of making a instagram page where I rate random pubs sunday roasts, so I need you vacate your office and the bigger office space next to you ..but continue paying for it
Ha! Lots of good pubs around here with some good Sunday roasts so it will be an ideal base 🤣
You must be doing something right.
Well done.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much, I know you've been with me since the beginning so that means a lot 🙂
Congrats Rees! A big step and look forward to the new videos!! 🎉
Exciting! I look forward to seeing what you do with the space. It seems nice. All the best.
Very nice new building 👍 one room for the Ataris (and others) and another room to flood and turn into a mini poolrooms simulator 🤪
Congrats Rees ! Its great you are able to get a much bigger place. Looking forward to more great videos !
Good luck Rees! Really hope it does everything you wish of it
Looking forward to see how this turns out. Having it so close to home will help a lot I hope! Grats on the "channel upgrade"!
Hopefully this will allow your channel to be much more active.
A great upgrade for the channel! - looking forward to following along :)
great new space, rees, good luck with it..
I love the new space! Looks great!
Congratulation, looking forward to follow everything
So jealous of all that space!
Congratulations! This surely was the best opportunity you could get to expand your space. And the biggest advantage is that it's near home!
Looking forward to "The Cave 2"! 😁
Definitely not a cave! I hear another UA-camr owns the copyright on that 😉😅
Mate, this is great. Very jealous! I'd love to have a space like this to reduce what I have in my room at home (lucky enough to have a whole spare bedroom for my collection, but it's a small box room), plus get all the bits out of storage that are (like yours) under the bed, at work, in the loft, etc.
Lovely building and surroundings, and only two minutes away. Ideal really!
Amazing!! Must feel great to be able to compartmentalise all the stuff, and actually be able to see it and use it! Very exciting.
Exciting stuff! Glad to see your success continuing and growing to boot Rees :-)
A change in environment brings new ideas and fresh perspectives. Any hobby expands to fill the space available! I'm sure your wife has designs on the liberated rooms at home.....
Great space: sort out stuff ! Sometime, lots of time `? Wish I had the time and the space can´t do everything tinker something on system versus easy daily gameplay stuff. Endless entheir only so much time escept social life wich is more or less important, conscider it´s amusing or not !
What a great space Reese! You'll be able to put up your favorite machines and just wander over to play a game or gab them for that upgrade you've alwats wanted to do. Plus, we get to live what you share through your eyes. Excellent news!
So happy for you Rees! Wishing you all the best in your new space - and will keep watching all your stuff!
Is that a 28" tube on top of your arcade monitor? if so, I could really do with one to fix up a cab I have with the wrong monitor in it - if it's the correct type, would you be interested in selling?
A Gateway cow box! Haven't seen one of those in 20 years...
🐄
Oh wow very exciting stuff!
Is it always overcast in England? It's kind of depressing.
This is amazing! I am happy for you. Hopefully you're able to use this office for a long time 😌
I'll look forwards to seeing how your great new space turns out !
Yes, but is it solar powered?
Cool. Congrats 🎉
