Inspirational and fabulous, thank you for sharing 🙏🏽
Thank you for your very kind words.
Well done gentlemen; a great trip with a noble cause. I'm a cloth and stick sea dog so was interested to see things from a power position. The Scottish west coast are my favourite waters but the southwest coast and the Irish sea all have great appeal.
Regards, Rob. 👏👏👏
Thank you Rob, we certainly did enjoy the Scottish west coast and particularly Islay. Phil
Great entertaining video. For us that live in the South Pacific (Fiji) I would have appreciated reference to a chart to show the passages, plus I would have loved to know more details about the boat, the engine, genset, galley etc etc. But how I wish to do a trip like that. Its on the Bucket List. Thanks for sharing.
Morning Neil, Thank you for your very kind comments. Go to www.boataroundbritain.co.uk for additional information. I can tell on the Rhea 850 there is no genset!!
@@boataroundbritain4123 thanks very much indeed.
An excellent video and trip Gentlemen! Very much hope to move my Merry Fisher permanently down to Gosport in the Spring, and look forward to bumping in to you. Thanks for sharing the true spirit of boating.
Thank you for your very kind comments and I hope you enjoy Gosport's excellent position for cruising around the Solent.
Wonderfull video. I did this trip in summer 2019 with a sailing vessel. Getting sentimentale while watching......

Thank you Christine
Epic journey and congrats.Lovely vlog
Thank you
Beautiful boat 🚢
Thank you Liam, I totally agree, always feel proud and happy when I walk up to her. Phil
Good entertaining and informative video. Nice boat too. I hadn't heard of Rhea boats before this so I will check them out. Having been on a few boats I now know I prefer a boat like this with a hard top and cockpit doors to keep out the elements. I like an open sports boat too but we rarely get the weather to enjoy them in the UK. Phil's idea on the website about getting the biggest boat he could afford was I think the right one:-) Good stuff guys:-)
The Rhea performs as well as she looks and is an absolute pleasure. Thank you for your kind comments. Phil
Nice one guys 🙂 that was awesome 😎
Thank you Dave
What a great video, if l had to give it stars, l would give it 5 stars p s what a nice boat you have, keep it up to date & you will have a lot of pleasure from it ,. Keep safe.
Hi John, Thank you for your kind comments and rest assured, a well maintained boat is a happy boat with a happy Skipper!! Phil
Royal Norfolk & Suffolk Yact Club - visited once, never again, very snooty & unfriendly. Royal Knobs & Snobs...
We found them helpful and Ok but we didn't eat there. It's a great transit marina however. Phil
Hi …. Something I’ve always wanted to do myself
What was the fuel costs please
About £5600 at an average of £1.14 per litre
Actually Kevin I found this reply from a year ago which more accurately answered the question.
5337 litres, 42lph, £5,558, £1.04 per lire, engine(s) run time 127 hours, Average speed 14 knots, 1717nm hope that answers your questions. Very best Phil Davies
Blimey …… be double that now
Thanks for the reply
All the best
Hi, Interesting video but spoilt by the intrusive loud music. Would have enjoyed more detail about your boat. Well done for effort though
Thank you and sorry about the music. Merry Christmas.
What boat did you use?
Rhea 850 Timonier
Some maps about your sail would be helpful....
Hi Thomas, a website link to 'passage plan' above, it was our initial plan which was amended on route for weather and other reasons. Phil
Would love to know the fuel cost for this trip if possible!?
Hi Leo, 5337 litres, 42lph, £5,558, £1.04 per lire, engine(s) run time 127 hours, Average speed 14 knots, 1717nm hope that answers your questions. Very best Phil Davies
@@philipdavies935 Hi Phil,
I was also wondering what the costs were.
Thank you for such a comprehensive answer 👍👍😁
Nigel, just out of interest, was your father a dentist in Chichester ?
Hi Gerald, Indeed my father Peter and my Uncle John were dentists in Chichester. Nigel
I wanted to like this video, but I found the style of it grated with me. Looking at the comments though, it seems that I'm in the minority, so I guess my comments can be taken with a pinch of salt.
The music seemed to me, jarring and intrusive, and the commentary style left me feeling detached from the narrative. I think a better choice would have been to include day to day footage of you helming the boat, and the conversations that took place, even some of the minutiae of everyday life aboard, so we could more closely share in your experience, as it unfolded. Instead, it felt to me, more like a feature in a holiday show, or an advert.
I do however respect your spirit of adventure, and the time and effort put into creating this video, and the subsequent sharing of it.
Hello, thank you for your comments and feedback. A lot of people find myself and Nigel annoying in real life!! The narrative was edited from our audio book so don't buy that, and the footage we eventually ended up with was as per. We were sometimes 'otherwise engaged' and therefore missed a few opportunities. If we ever do it again we'll make a better effort. In truth we did it for charity as per the links above so I suppose it might have ended up as a bit of an 'adver't for that reason. Either way you can't please everybody, but I'm grateful for your final sentence,. Phil
What was the little creature at 1:07🤪
Haven't a clue!!
