The train was clearly going thru the light when it wasn't supposed to, but the driver should've used common sense and not risk darting out right in front of TWO trains. SMH
If only he wouldn't have braked I think he would have made it. Of course the train was in the wrong, and the driver shouldn't have tried to get through, and the driver shouldn't have braked,
If you look just to the left of the traffic light at the right of the screen at 0:35, which has just turned red, you can see the white bar signal for the light rail trains. At the time the train was proceeding through the intersection, the signal was showing a horizontal bar, which means STOP. After the traffic light turns red, you can see the bar signal for the light rail change to a vertical bar, which means GO. By the time the signal for the light rail changes to GO, the train has already passed through the intersection, taking the white car with it. The light rail train clearly ignored the horizontal STOP signal and proceeded into the intersection while the white car technically still had the right-of-way, so it's the operator of the light rail train who is clearly at fault here. Eerily similar to the collision that happened a few years ago: ua-cam.com/video/FrkQJep4mWI/v-deo.html Seems like Metro Transit has a real issue with its train operators disobeying signals and running right into cars...
If emergency vehicles are equipped with devices that can change the pattern of stop lights to be in the favor of emergency vehicles, why couldn't the train engineers have the same devices? I understand for space purposes they put light rail in the middle of street traffic, but what is the purpose of having trains in the first place (as opposed to busses) if they don't get the right of way? Why not just run busses if the mass transit vehicles are supposed to stop at every red light? Again, not saying these trains should have the right of way to run red lights, but rather why not give them devices to change the signals to their favor? I can imagine the payouts from being liable in accidents like this!
Light is yellow but there is 3sec between red and green light switch the train seen a red light when approaching and would of went threw a red light. The train approached a red light and went threw a red light the car approached a green light and went threw with a yellow light ? at the cars speed and the light soundly yellow he could of slammed on brakes to not go threw but we now there is a 3 sec window to clear the way for the next lane moves train was not even 3 sec behind especially seeing that the car almost made it through the train appears to be closer on a red light
The train operator doesn't follow any red, yellow, or green signals. Their's are all white. A vertical white bar indicates proceed, and a horizontal white bar indicates stop.
They should have elevated the track from the beginning. It would have caused less traffic disruption and there wouldn't have been any of the collisions with vehicles.
That would have saved quite a bit of on-street parking, too. Something some of us pushed for PRIOR to this being built. But we civilians don't know what we're talking about.
@@roninpwns How many people have been killed by this LRT since it was built? If there was a bus route that had killed THAT many people, the locals would be out with pitchforks and torches. Ask the family members of those who have been killed if it was as great as you think it is. Then come back and tell us why it was a good idea to do it "on the cheap". And add to that all the cars waiting at the crossings getting zero miles to the gallon and you will probably find that it's MORE EXPENSIVE to do it this way.
@@roninpwns Well then, that just goes to show everyone our so-called 'leaders' don't think things through. Other cities have done the same with their trains. We, as voters, need to know who in hell it is we vote for so we can eliminate this sort of wasteful spending.
@@mikemiller3069 Do you have any data to back this up? I cannot find specific LRT accident stats from MN gov, but there's absolutely no way it's anywhere close to the amount of fatalities that occur while driving. Public transportation is universally a net positive in communities. I cannot imagine how much time and money it would have cost to have LRT infra raised to avoid causing "inconvenience" to drivers having to wait an additional 2 mins for the train to cross.
"But I had the right of way!" it said on their tombstone.
My prayers goes out to the family, this happen to. I pray that they are okay.

Even if you had the right of way use common sense and you might not get unalived.
yeah I wouldn't wanna risk it either. That's just dangerous.
Orange light means go faster; is what I'm understanding from this. Correct?

Legally, yeah the train is at fault but the driver was an idiot after stepping on the brake then trying to beat it.
What a terrible inconvenience for all of the gang members, shoplifters, carjackers, and drug addicts riding the trains.
Uh what 😂
Certainly some dogma.
Why don't we see it green first ?
Train driver was probably out of it on involuntary second-hand fentanyl smoke
Story should be renamed "IDIOT STEPS ON GAS TRYING TO OUTRACE TRAIN (COMMON SENSE HATES HIM!!)

Yellow means prepare to stop not shit can it 😮
Drivers see Yellow they should always stop instead of hesitating at the last second

Do you know how much it would cost to do that? It’s just not feasible for most cities and their budget

I play chicken with the train
Play chicken with the train train
Unh huh huh, unh huh huh
You know that I play chicken with the train
😂
End city immunity.
