JT Miller has an edge and he is an elite sniper who the Rangers need. They are not winning anything with Mika and Lafreniere or Kreider. JT Miller is a threat to score every shift...They need that. Plus his heart has always been in NY, so the idea is that he will have a lot of motivation to win a cup in NY unlike a Mika or Kreider or Lafreniere. JT has a certain drive to win that the current Ranger Stars lack.

Mika‘s one timer from last year is not as potent this year. Put the puck on net and go from there. They need to get rid of Keandre Miller, not sure if JT Miller is the answer, but let’s keep our options open.
K'Andre Miller has been good with Borgen. He's a talented defenseman. His biggest issue was playing with Trouba. He'll always make boneheaded mistakes but if you pare him appropriately he's a net positive.
Laffy for Miller should be off the table Larry because that's crazy!!. I think we need Miller as our 1C but not for that price, we still need to revamp this defense if we seriously want to contend for a cup in 2026 and beyond.
What's so special about LaBust ? He is one of the worst number one overall picks in NHL history. How much longer should the Rangers wait for him to look like a number one overall ? He gets points because he is on Panarin's line. Last year Panarin had a career year and it helped LaBust get points and avoid a trade. This year Panarin is not having a great year and LaBust is struggling as usual. We should trade him now, while we can get a JT Miller for him. Would love to get JT Miller but definitely not for Lafreniere. That would be insane. He,s picked up his play lately and he’s only 23 with too much potential. He also was one of our best players in the playoffs last year.
On Miller why would we take a guy who is a distraction and has had issues on every team he's been on? Why would anyone want a player like that especially when he has YEARS left on his contract?
I agree with Larry about the Rangers being Sellers at the deadline. Whether the Rangers are buyers or sellers at the trade deadline will be seriously affected by the results of the California trip and the next 5 games starting with Carolina and Montreal . The key to the Rangers season is the play of Zibanejad …. Going down the stretch . I expect the Rangers to trade at least one defenseman and two forwards , players on the last year of their contracts who can return …. I expect them bring up Berard , Othmann and Mancini post trade deadline and play them on regular lines til the end of the season . I also think Drury could trade a veterans with Modified no trade contracts ( Kreider ) if they don’t perform well ( win ) before the trade deadline . I would be surprised if the Rangers trade a signed “younger player “ , if the return brings in a quality veteran player I would not be opposed to move Zibanejad, if there was a trade for JT Miller … both might perform better with a change of scenery … ?
JTM is signed through 2028-29, so he will be 36 at the end of that contract. He peaked between 21-22 and 24. He's 31 and on the down side. LaFreniere is only 23 and has all of his best years ahead of him. No I would not even consider this trade. I would offer a 2nd, a 3rd and a B-level prospect.
If the rumors are true, that the Rangers were willing to give Schneider or Alexis Laffrienere to Vancouver for Miller than Drury should be FIRED IMMEDIATELY. There is no way, I would give Vancouver a former #1 pic who is still extremely young or Braden Schneider who should be a top 6 defenseman for a 32 year old Miller who has had locker room issues and has a temper. No way, Drury should stay far clear if Vancouver is demanding either Laffy or Schneider. In addition , what benefit would this be for the Rangers. We all know that this core is not good enough to win it all, they have 3 or 4 chances and not been able to get it done. Does anyone really believe that Miller is going to take this team from borderline playoff team to winning the Stanley Cup?? This is not the move and Drury should be fired on the spot if he accepts that Deal. It would be honestly a big steal for Vancouver.
Disagree about Lafreniere but agree with the big picture: what is the 3 year plan? What happens when Panarin's contract is up? Schneider is solid but replaceable. How would the coach utilize him? What center becomes a winger or does Miller become a winger?
Thanx guys love this show. My 2 cents (sense) here is that this Rangers Team already has a Miller and there’s no room for another one! Especially since he’s already been here and the Team moved on from him plus, he’s got to some degree the TD (former Ranger, Cane, Flyer) Syndrome which wreaks havoc in whatever locker room they’re in. Too. Much. Drama…. not enough TEAM. And to think about trading him for Laffy is … well laughable… I think the jury is still out on LaFreniere. He started to show what he can do last season-haven’t seen much this year from him but I don’t see this as a good move for the Rangers…or, if yor going to trade Lafreniere away then get the guy who’s going to be the next Captain from day one.. Hopefully the recent turnaround sticks and the Rangers keep rolling.
These podcasts remind me of the scene in Moneyball. Brad Pitt walks into the conference room with about 8 guys talking over one another on which players to get rid of and pick up. Pitt remains silent and moves his fingers up and down as if it were a mouth and say “blah, blah, blah.”
Larry, how do you say the Rangers must be sellers and yet want to trade Lafreniere for a 32 year old JT Miller? Are they thinking long term or short term?
Thank God Larry Brooks is not the GM of the rangers. I usually respect what Larry says but trading either Schneider or LaFreniere for JT Miller is beyond idiotic. JT is close to 32 is being paid a lot of money and wants to get traded only to New York. We the rangers have all The leverage. Don't give up two potential 23-year-old Stars for a 32-year-old with a long contract getting paid a lot of money that's Insanity. If they want to do JT for Mika or JT for Fil, That's another story. Under no circumstances do we give up Schneider or LaFreniere
Rangers are not interested in making the playoffs so now would be the time to assess other potential players worth the interest of the team yes we know teams headed to the playoffs are not going to give a hint as to who will be eligible. The team in general cannot continue depending on Igor they need to give him a cushion to play his own game there is still too many mistakes by the defense with inconsistency and finally why players focused on the puck on one side and leaving the opposing teams player free on the other side unprotected .
Yeah great let's get more draft picks for the next draft, retooling with draft picks that will be mired down in the minors for years. A lot to look forward to in the next few years. Yawn.
Kakko’s production with Seattle should be a warning sign when it comes to giving up on youth. Rangers are just a miserable franchise that can’t play physical or defense.
Almost every player who gets traded raises his game noticeably after he arrives on a new team. It stands to reason - his effort level has to be at its peak at that point in time. So that must be kept in mind regarding Kakko. He is also getting much more ice time and responsibility now than he was with the Rangers. And that was the problem - he was never good enough in NY to justify top 6 minutes, so he never got top 6 minutes. He was given many opportunities on the top two lines and he failed to produce enough to stick there. Lafreniere, on the other hand, was given the opportunity and converted it, and now he's a top 6 contributor here. Kakko wasn't and was never going to be one here.
@ At this point none of the young Rangers are worth top six minutes. As much as fans fault Kakko, I don’t think he’s the problem. I think, he’s stuck with the bitchwork that the vets don’t do, which is why this team falls off a cliff in the ECF two out of the last three years. JT is not going to change that. This team should be sellers at the deadline.
I'm tired of seeing sleepy foggy Mika Zzzzombiebad and can't wait to see him traded, as well as Kreider, Miller, Lindgren, Vesey. Mika and Kreider are not worth breaking the cap for. If the Rangers make the Playoffs they will be out in the first round. The expectations for this group are not to just make the Playoffs Mika has been playing poorly for 2 Playoffs and 2 seasons now. Time to trade him and Kreider. These are not the Stars the Rangers are going to win with. Lafreniere should also be traded while he''s still worth a return, or the Rangers will get nothing back when they trade him in 2 years when they finally admit he's a bust like Kakko.
@@humanbeing2420 Kreider had one good game and then he gave us nothing in the ECF. No one questions his ability, but he is not worth the Star money he receives. We need someone who will show up consistently. In the big picture Kreider shows up one game and then is missing for 5 games. We can''t win a cup with a guy like that. Kreider does not have the championship work ethic or mentality to be one of the Rangers Stars to help lead them to a cup. It''s time to move on from him and Zzzombiebad. @@SamWesting sorry if stating obvious facts is upsetting to you, that doesn't change the fact that we have a large portion of our salary cap tied up in a couple of players. Igor makes 11.5, Mika 8.5, Laf 7.5, Fox 9.5. because of that you need to get production from cheaper players, since we are not very good right now use these next couple of years to fill up the talent pool on cheaper guys. That means not resigning guys like Borgen for 3-4 million. It means trading guys like him and Smith.

They are not worth the money we are paying them and they have had 4 years including the bubble play-in tournament. The results are not there...They are also boring to watch ! Tired of seeing them, let's get in some fresh faces who have an insatiable need to win a cup.
I mean this team will be no where near a stanley cup with the soft as tissue paper leadership core. So yes you sell at the deadline. You are completely overpaying your goalie and #1 Center so to have any chance to win the cup you will have to supplement with cheap players. So sell off this year and probably next and then try and build a team with cheaper players
Overpay? Cap is going up & within a couple of years, Igor won’t be the highest paid goalie anymore.
@SamWesting and he will be on the down side of his career. Just because it won't look as bad in 3-4 years doesn't mean it's not an overpay.
@@davidwood1100 Like it or hate it, that contract has been signed & incessantly complaining won’t change it. Sounds like you’ll be happier cheering for the Fish Sticks. They could use more fans.
@ Sorry if pointing out that your whining about Igor is all but pointless.
Trashed Larry spews the same shit. #TortsWasRight
So once again the great Molly Walker has a profound statement of how Carric is the MVP for 2025, really Molly? So because a player has a good run for 7 games he's an MVP? So the Post thinks she's the best for the paper to run a podcast and go on NHL network with all of her great knowldge she has for 5 years of covering a NHL team.
Somebody sounds jealous
Put away those bitter pills and you'll be a better person. @@SamWesting
Larry is so dumb yea trade Laff for JT like are you out of your mind I love that the rangers are playing better but like what are you watching I would trade Kreider panarin and Mika way b4 Laff obviously I know theirs trade protection but in terms of the players and the cancers they are in the room the rangers Vets are the problem with this team always miller would be great but last thing rangers should be doing is trading any of their good young guys they need new veteran leaders besides trocheck im okay with them keeping him but Mika Kreider and Panarin I would love if they left Panarin being the best player on your team is not a good thing such a clear sign of a weak soft team and he gets everything he wants young guys need to build a new culture for the rangers but if the make playoffs yea see what happens but I ain’t trading Laff for JT in a million years
Cut him slack - he's high as hell here.
