We had dairy goats for years. I was a 4-H leader. My children showed at 5 local fairs each year. They showed to the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. And also at the East National Goat Show. Goats are lots of fun. You’ll have fun showing them. My children also did well showing dairy, beef, rabbits, horses.
The sight of your daughter Jessica laying there next to that Guernsey cow is so sweet and precious. She must have been absolutely exhausted. You must be so proud of her.
Congratulations Jessica on showing at the State Fair. Dawn and I have spent plenty of hours in that building watching and a few scary moments in the ring showing horses. Great to see Carlton County represented. Beautiful guernsey.
You can't go wrong when you take the time to have your kids show livestock! It's time consuming, it's hard work on top of the regular hard work, but those times are priceless. You get to watch them achieve, they get to compete with people who are in the same life, and at the end of the day, they have made lifelong friends. Blue ribbons are pretty. Experiences are forever. God Bless y'all, and congrats!
@@trinitydairy I grew up showing, and my kids did, too. I learned what it took for my Dad to keep me doing it until I was able to do it myself, and then doubled down with my kids. We spent 30 days per year at shows. Best time I ever "wasted" away from the farm. Y'all keep at it, and those fine young'uns won't ever forget it. Nor will you. 👍👍
Congratulations, Jessica!!!!🎉 4-H is such a great thing to be in. It's been nearly 40 years since my last fair. I didn't have animals, but I still crochet. Keep up the great work! God bless.
Congratulations Jessica You Had A Awesome Year So Very Proud Of Your Accomplishments In Showing Dairy Cattle. And You Did And Amazing Job Also Hopefully You're Going To Have A Wonderful Time With Your Goats Too Also Very Proud Of Your Brothers It's alot Of Work Training Them to Lead and Stand But Your Family Is Going To Have A Top Showing Dairy Before To Long With All The Siblings working alongside Each Other Cheering Each Other And Helping Them Teaching Them I See A House Full Of 1st Place Ribbons. Blessings To Y'all And Please Be Safe ✌️
The blue ribbons don't matter. I may have a stack of them somewhere. It's the people and experiences that they will remember. And the entire family can share in those. That's why most people show. But I think you know that, right? 👍
I had many great memories of the Minnesota State Fair that I have held for my entire life. I know you will too. Congratulations to your entire family. The success of one is a success of all everyone pitches in for everyone on the family farm.
Congrats Jessica. Seems like a million years ago since I was in 4H. (at least 50+). Any way, It must have been miserable at the fair. Hot hot hot. That is a very nice looking Guernsey heifer you got there. She will be a welcome member your families herd. I quit milking in 2000. I do like watching you all. Reminds me of our operation. Nothing fancy, nothing new. Our old equipment got the job done always. Bless your family.
Well hey there, Jessica! Nice work. I used to show dairy goats with my siblings when I was your age. At that time we used to milk a herd of Guernseys and a herd of goats. The Guernseys left and the goats took over for a while. We milked 110 of them by hand. My brothers and sisters and I still have a very firm handshake - LOL Keith
Congratulations, Jess!👏! Oh, no! not goats! They're a nuisance! They eat stuff they're not supposed to, they like to climb, even over fences, the eat bark off the trees! Good luck! Keep an eye on them!
These judges make me sick. They say things like "if I could change anything". I highly doubt that they showed perfect cattle when they were younger. Sorry for the rant. They just really irk me.
