For the series I'm planning, "Starting Out as an Artist", what topics would you guys like me cover?
So far I'm thinking of talking about how to make prints, how to sell your work online, how to price your commissions and even things to help your work get exposure.

Do how u manage your shop from step to step or production of products~ I haven’t seen videos like such so it would be very helpful for people who want to open and manage their own shop but have no one to teach them.

making connections with other artists! especially when it comes to an online presence. in my experience, it's difficult reaching out to fellow creators through social media than when you are in the same classes/majors with them.

Thank you for this video. It was very helpful! I've only recently been more serious about my art. I had always been pushed towards my science degree (I enjoy science too) but I still didn't want to leave my art behind and still have it as part of my life. I also have a business mentor to check up on me (honestly wouldn't meet my own deadlines without her!) and I'm still new to all this. It's confusing and hard to find directions. You've made it a lot easier.

I love seeing some good art with some good web layouts LOL everything looks so stunning and organized; it's satisfying
Quick thing: I was viewing your exhibitions, and there was a typo in 2019's. In "Haven Gallery & Modern Eden Gallery - Northport, NY, USA & San Farncisco, CA, USA," San Francisco is misspelled. Just thought you should know to fix it!
On that topic, I would love to hear you talk more about how it's like having an exhibition! The hard work, how it came about, other obligations, etc! To me, it's an unfathomable and intimidating accomplishment, so hearing your experiences would be interesting and insightful.
Thanks for making these videos. Although I've chosen a different path for now, they bring me a lot of joy and inspiration!

I'm considering a few different courses/degrees in animation but I wanted to hear what your experience has been like a rmit? Specifically the vibes of other students, I find that if majority of other students are lazy that can negatively affect me as I like the competitiveness of working with hard workers/talented people I guess. I've already got a degree in film & television so I kinda know what I'm looking for. I really like the sound of rmit but I'm from Sydney and idk if it'll be worth it to move to Melbourne haha. OH and also are the teachers genuinely passionate about what they're teaching? I've had some teachers that literally said, "I only care about getting paid", and they were really difficult to learn from. But I've had teachers that showed genuine passion for whatever they were teaching and it was great (Y).

    Cool tutorial, thanks!
Just one thing: DPI/PPI has no meaning when it comes to digital presentation. 72 DPI means 72 dots will be printed per inch. In digital presentation (web design), what matters is the pixel dimensions and 72 x 72 pixels will still be 72 x 72 pixels no matter what the DPI is - it can be 72, and it can be 300 DPI. DPI matters only when printing.. the higher the DPI is, the more dots you'll have per inch (assuming the printer can get to that density of dots), the pixels will be smaller to get to your desire printing size and the quality will be better. For example: if you want to print a 5 x 5 inch print at 300 DPI, you'll need to use a file that is 1500 x 1500 pixels big (at least, compressing is easier then enlarging). Printing the same 1500 x 1500 pixel painting as a 10 x 10 inch print will produce a 150DPI print, meaning the dot will be bigger and more noticeable.
Point being - there's no meaning for DPI in web design, just the pixel size :)

what do you think of watermarking art even if it's for a portfolio? i have had people try to steal my art before and pass it off as their own. this has also never happened to me but i've seen a few artists who had their work stolen and then sold for profit :/ i guess a portfolio should look really professional and a watermark might ruin that but i can't help but be paranoid

    • @kelogsloops

It's a bit tricky, because you don't want your folio to look crappy. But I usually make my images compressed so that even with work stolen, not much can be done. i.e making them low dpi, limiting quality, sizing appropriately.

Maybe do a video on how to promote your art or shop without spaming or coming out as pretentious? I'm not sure if it's a good topic, but I've always had trouble with putting my work out there as well as a mentally of "why would anyone wanna pay for this?" It's probably just all in my head.
