in 1986 i was 7 years old and I Remember vividly that that was the most amazing thing I had ever listen and seen I was in the other part of the world back then, we were in Brazil and I saw that on TV live I never ever in my life forgot that feeling of some spiritual, or transcended feeling running inside me, so until this day today at 39 I still can feel that amazing, absolutely magical feeling I felt in 1986 when I saw that for the very first time...
Eu também!... Assisti na Globo!
Tinha 8 anos!
Foi esplêndido, maravilhoso!
Me too!... I watched on the Globo TV!
I was 8 years old!
It was fantastic!
Greetings from Brazil!
Ruth I AM WHAT I AM ! Porque. Algunas.o. Concierto. Bale. Completo
it was a global alien celebration, the kids in the back stage in white costumes are hybrids; 1,5 million attended this event
First concert performance of Fourth Rendezvous. Probably been performed at every concert since. I suspect a favourite of JMJ himself. A natural curtain closer, just incredible.
EPIC!!! I was there. April 5th, 1986.
I heard cars just stopped on the highway, got out of their cars and watched, totally mesmerised
80s LIVES FOREVER
Jarre is an amazing person, He will never be forgotten
This is real music, not the noises of today....
For the past 35 yrs this has been my very very fav to play on keyboard ❤️cannot tell you what this does to me 😍😍😍😍
I remember switching on the car radio, wondering what was happening in Houston, I became mesmerized, total genius, 😢😢😢😢
A real and true artist. I would give a fortune for a time machine to go back to this day and place.
I was babysitting for my sister on New Years Eve when i watched this concert. What an incredible spectacle. The man is a genius
I remember it, like it was just yesterday.
"Tears of Joy", you want to feel like a kid again, then go see one of his concerts.
True, it is Energy, we are energy.
Thanks for posting this video.
I was there in front of the stage for this monumental event for Houston. An outstanding FREE concert. The metal from the fireworks just rained down us during this finale! Plus the entire concert was simulcast on the radio, actually more music than was released on the album and the video.
If music events like this could stop all wars then this would be at the top of the tree. Pure adrenaline, pure euphoria, pure magic :-) Just amazing
After all these years and this song still sends shivers up my spine :-)
It's impossible not to feel alive listening to this. I bow to this man.
I was there, I was 10 years old watched the concert from my dad's shoulder. In this concert my soul had finally found its sound and this is the track that opened my the door and set my soul on this journey of intergalactic spiritual awareness.
Bonita historia! algo asi me paso a mi con esta canción a esa edad, me impacto de sobremanera, no puedo imaginar haberla presenciado. Salud!
I was there too. 12 years old and fully incapable of the awesomeness that to this day plays upon the back of my eyelids. People don't know. You really REALLY can't know that if you weren't there. You missed a true renaissance of music, light and fire meeting perfectly in one Houston sky. It is fair to say that this world, to this day, has seen nothing like it. One of the largest cities in the world exploding in pure beauty and reverence of what what we have achieved and yet what we may yet become

Ditto, this track, that same journey
It got me addicted to lights!
THE greatest track of all time performed at possibly the greatest concert of all time . Brilliant .
I was there I was 9yrs old.. Remember getting our spot like at 10am.. I thought it was a festival .. I remeber dancing and having a blast.. Playing w random kids.. One of best memories of my life..
Through 27 years, VHS tape, web compression...still goosebumps.
I was there! We watched it from the top of my stepdad's car and cried through everything that referenced Ron McNair and Challenger. It was beautiful, moving, and a momentous occasion that I'm glad I was present for.
Incredible, I still get goosebumps from this now, in 2020.
I too was there, and there will never, ever, be anything like this again. Thank you Jean-Michel Jarre. Thank you Houston! And thanks for posting.
oh my goodness!!! I REMEMBER THISSS!!!!!!
I love this song! Those were such good times!! When Houston was FUN!!!!!!
I was there, yeah!!!!!!!
AWESOME!!!!!!
I'm 58, now and still love it.
Loved every music he's made ever since that night.
Thanks for posting
MERCI
AT LAST!!! AFTER ALL THESE YEARS I FOUND IT!!!!! this brings back priceless moments of my childhood!!!!!
I remember watching this and was blown away that night. One of the best concerts I have ever seen, or probably will ever see, in my life. Awsome!
probably the most perfect piece of music composed in recent times, does something amazing to my brain every time I hear it-Jean Michel Jarre, you are awesome, amazing, epic and a genius, wish I had been there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Real men wear pink, bravo!!! My second-favourite track in the whole universe next to Chronologie 4!!!
My second next to Chronologie 2. Just love the gothicness of Chronologie 2!
I was there, best concert i have ever seen! Other than Pink Floyd! I got lucky enough to meet him twice, once at an autograph party, and then him warming up a few days before the show. Very nice guy, i told him i had been listening to his music since he put out Oxygene, he was surprised!
a legend like pink Floyd 👍👍👍👍
The reason why i love electronic music
One of the coolest concerts of all time ... and in my hometown.
one of the greatest concerts ever seen...i was there with my mom and dad....seen alot of concerts since...this will never be bettered
Jean-Michelle Jarre doesn't create music - he creates an experience. He is, simply, awesome, in the literal sense of the word.
This song brought me to tears, first time I heard it.
Truly PHENOMENAL!!! It's still giving me goose bumps a quarter century later... wow
This concert is in my mind since i saw it on TV long long time ago. Outstanding one!
This song and most of his others are fantastic - they really make you feel like your heart is going at the same beat! I swear one day, I'm going to drive around Britain with an open top car playing this full blast! XD
This guy is such an inspiration!! I saw the impromptu concert on TV in the 80's.... amazing then n still amazing now...such a musical artist...respect x
there probably won't be another like this one...where down town was the stage backdrop and the city literally shuts down...there was at least almost a million people there
At least a million and a half, a record at the time.
I remember stuck in the freeway. 1986
I remember this event like it was yesterday -- so awesome. I grew up an hour from Houston and will never forget this as a part of my childhood. Thanks for posting!
I was there in 1986, and I will probably never again witness anything this amazing! Thanks so much for posting.
JMJ out his tree giving 1.3 million people an experience that only one can fathom is unreal and this is a staple of not only the music but how good the show actually is and takes you to another dimension as your watching and listening to it unmatched amd not up for debate
What a great show ! I was 6 years old and my Dad took me to downtown Houston to see this ! I miss the 80's !!!!!!!!!!!
I was there. BEST. SHOW. EVER.
Amazing, unforgetable Concert! JMJ's best music ever for me. Even that remember Challenger's tragedy its kinda hudge memory ot 80's. Thanks for sharing with us all!
I was ten years old. Watched on tv, as all my friends in Brazil. One of those magic days we never forget. I bought the vinil and heard it repeatedly, specially this one and the intro.
I was a 13 years old kid when I heard this song first time and I love it! I made my father to buy a record for me. I love the 80s! Great artist!
I was there at this concert in 1986. I was 24 years old then. It remains one of the greatest events I have ever attended. I still get goosebumps listening to this even today :-)
it is still ranked in the top 5 of the worlds greatest ever concerts......and you can certainly see why...i was 20 at the time when we were on holiday in Houston with my family and we went to see this event...i think it's the first time i'd ever seen my mum cry,she was that overwhelmed.....i don't think i've ever seen as many people before in 1 place EVER!!!!!!!!...a trully amazing event....
I... I... I...am... I am voiceless.
Simply beautiful. As if beauty could be simple...
Music amazes human beings, makes them happy, brings them to tears and so so many other things, Monsieur Jarre created something really great then, without any modern computer technique we have nowadays I was eighteen then and i couldn't stop watching the VHScassette, so who the f.... cares if he played really live or playback, he amazed his audience, that's what counts!!
There is only one description for this concert , truly awesome . That many people 1.3 million is a worlds record .
Was a world record. La Defense 4 years later had over 2 million in attendence and I was one of them. His Moscow concert audience was larger still. Apparently Rod Stewart now holds that record although according to Wikipedia it is actually a tie between JMJ at Moscow and Rod at Rio with 3.5 million each.
First heard him in Basel. First thought... Wow! Like his muzik!.
This was done the year I was born and I first watched it when I was 6 it was brilliant then and I still think it's amazing now and I'm 22 I think I still have it on video somewhere lol
Haven't seen this for years - fantastic
30 years ago on this day.
How groundbreaking can u get, BRILLIANT!
I also was there. It was amazing.
I can remember being about 13 watching this from the Sabine St. bridge, awesome!!! It was pretty mind blowing then, even now watching the 80's at it's best, it really was a once in a lifetime event.
Love from Skåne/Sweden!
WOW! I was there, my spouse and kids. I am so glad I found this on youtube. That night we were trying to get as close as we could and at 8 p.m. sharp the music started and we with hundreds of cars were on freeways leading into downtown. Drivers stopped their cars got out and enjoyed the show. There was no freeway leading to downtown operable. The traffic shut down. At the end of the show the traffic began to flow again. I hope there are others to visit here and share your similar memories.
classy, super, genius musician.....timeless !
1,000,000,000,000.....stars!
1000 of masterpieces!
ONE JARRE !
Oh my God that was so awesome ! I love that man !
Wow, fantastic stuff!!
If I could go back in time, I would go back and see this concert with my own eyes
I happened to see this show live on Swedish TV when I was just a young brat and I went out and got the vinyl after. I listened to it every day for about 3 years and now I own a midiset and play myself. Wonderfull, thank you for uploading this! Much Love!
I was there (24), close enough to see both stage & background shows on the buildings. Took a lovely girl I'd just met days before. We brought two bottles of wine & some cheese/bread to enjoy atop a blanket on the bayou shores.
As a Houstonian, this was one of the magical nites of my life. Music from another world celebrating my city that was going thru hard times.
Evening didn't end with the show--Suzanne & I let our sweet senses rendezvous under sheets that night for our first time ever. .
The sheer energy of this man is just incredible. Wonderful video, thankyou
Wow!!! fantastic and spectacular.
I was at this exact show when I was 7. We were so far away, we had to tune in the music on radios. Still that was an experience to behold.
i watched this on tv when i was small the year it was done - the guys amazing and it was a great tribute to those who died in the shuttle =)
Rotundamente fenomenal!!!
Fantastic! Excellent! Very, very good!
Fantastic musik, fantastic show and amazing Jean
I loved this when i was young'er. Never thought of it again. Gr8 !
I sat center stage with some fellow TAMUG Aggies! This man is a true composer, not just musician! You have to experience it live! They shut down Hwy 59 since everyone parked on it to watch the West Side light up!
Jean Michel Jarre is one of the few who make the music visible .Ich look forward to his world tour next year
i was there when this was being played live! it was the most awesome concert i ever went to, and it was free!! ya had to be there to fully appreciate it. RW doesnt compare at all.
Watching that made me feel like I was 6 again. I remember watching this with my dad on the tv and being in awe of it, thanks soo much for posting it!
