Hi John thanks for doing the tag .. I’ve seen a few people show that rain parade album I need to give it a listen .. I have 2 of those monkeys album .. . The 70s has been a popular choice .hawkwind does make sense you mentioned them a few times last year .. love the teardrop explodes . Unsurprisingly Sgt pepper has been shown more than most . It’s always nice to give Pete a shout out 👍 that was a nice cover to walk into .. thanks again John really enjoyed your tag. Have a great 2024 👍

Brilliant TAG video John! Always into your taste in music and there were a lot of really cool albums shown! So cool you showed Simon & Garfunkel as that was one album I inherited from my parents when I was just a kid. I never seen my folks listen to records or even show any interest in music when I was growing up but I found a stash of records in our basement and that S&G was in there I listened to it constantly especially songs like Cecilia and The Boxer! Really important LP in my listening experience! Great stuff John! ✨✌️👽✨

Cheers Brian! Some of the other S&G albums are great too.

Happy New Year! Great response to the vinyl tag. Starless is certainly a big highlight of 1974, and then some. Fracture is such an earworm for me. I can hardly argue with Pete's video on Nordic music being a great one. Take care, Richard

Pete’s recent Nordic video made me write down the names of records he showed - so much to investigate! For a long time Starless and Bible Black was for a long time my favourite KC album. Take care in 2024, John.

  • @davidatkinson-Music-and-More

Oh yes, 'V', one of the greatest compilations ever. 👏🏻 And that was a great period for KC too.

I keep returning to the V comp. Virgin records had such great acts in the mid 70s. Thanks for watching David!

@@baggyhi-fi8628 So many great tracks, best version of 'Marjory Razorblade' and 'Upon The My-Oh-My' included.

Lovely responses as expected John. HNY to you! I need to do this but the longer I leave it the less likely it is that I will show stuff that’s different! Cheers for now, Chris

Enjoyed seeing The Monkeys albums. Remember seeing them on the telly in the US when I was a child. Fun tag video.

    Nice Tag response John.
Lovely to see those early Teardrop Explodes singles.
The ' V' comp sounds very intriguing..Will keep a look out for that.
I agree with your new channel choices, particularly Chris Suffolk Record Collector.
    All the best
    Rob.

The V sampler has a lot of material not released elsewhere. I have a lot of Julian Cope 7" singles too, but hardly ever play them.

What an excellent response John - and I'm not saying that because of the kind words on my recent video (many thanks for that).
Thanks for the original heads up on the new Rain Parade, you had me buying it and I'm enjoying it a lot.
Can't go wrong with the Hatfields, Monkees, 10cc, and Hawkwind (QS&C was the period in which I first saw the band live).
Great to see the Teardrop's singles. Love the first albumvwhich I bought after hearing Reward, but I really need to pick up Wilder.
Can I gatecrash your party? Listening to the gents would be great fun, but I think I'd be awestruck by the beauty that us Susanah!
You should have stuck with your original country choice, Venezuela has produced some good prog!
I wish I'd chosen V as my answer for that question - wonderful sampler that like for you was a gateway into lots of great music.
I really need to try Stereolab again given their influences. What little I've heard in the distant past didn't do it for me at the time.
Strong finish with S&G and Crimson (prog whatever Mr Fripp says).
Thanks for that, thoroughly enjoyed it... Pete

PS just been watching a video on the UA-cam channel Yesterday's Papers, Joe Meek - The Freakbeat Singles. Really good, and it was great to see a clip of a very young Steve Howe with The Syndicats. If you don't know it the channel would be right up your street. They've also done a short video on Honey Lantree. And I'm just listening to their re- imagining of The Beatles Now And Then as a 1967 Beatles recording!

  • @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147

Oh great, you and Richard are going to be have a fight over who gets Suzanna Hoff That should add to the entertainment aspects of the party. That Rain Parade was an incredible album, very beautiful. Always an enjoyable watch John

Hi John. Good choice for your favourite record purchased. Definitely a grower; and touring the UK later this year ... I love Hatfield & The North and especially Richard Sinclair. There is an underlying melancholy to his vocal tones ... Some Teardrop Explodes singles I've never seen ... I chose Jeff Beck for question 9 too ... 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' was the second album I bought (after 'Bowie Pinups'). I have fond memories of that record, as my dad really liked it too. All the best, Carl

Hi Carl. I think the Bridge Over Troubled Water LP has appealed to quite a few generations. I remember one of my sisters having it and then my Dad saying he liked it. My niece also loves Simon and Garfunkel. As for Pin Ups - that is a Bowie album I never get sick of, all brilliant cover versions.
Didn’t know Rain Parade will be touring...good news! Best wishes for 2024, John.

Hi John, great tag response. I have been looking for Hatfield & The North so would happily take an unofficial release. Love the This Is Sue comp. Excellent run of Teardrop Explodes singles.

'This the time of year when the VC goes mad' 🤣. Great Teardrop singles, your cover of Treason is different from mine. I have a 12" promo of Tiny Children which is fab. I was thinking of inviting Roy Wood as well. Not delved into Nico much but interesting choice. How will we fit all this vinyl into small care home rooms? cheers 👍

    You cheeky blighter.....🤣🤣🤣
Ref Cope/Teardrop,ive got it into my head that he released a song which included the lyrics "and in my castle I'm alone in my room" ,does it ring any bells with you,I'm presuming you're a cope fan ???
You also mentioned Hawkwind, now im not a big fan of them but live the song "Masters of the universe",did it ever appear on a 7" single??? I'd rather buy it on a single than buy an LP.
Great tag response sir....happy new year to you .

Thanks Nick! Happy New Year to you too.
Yes I'm a big Cope / Teardrops fan. The lyrics you mentioned are from a Julian Cope single called 'Charlotte Anne'. It was a modest hit I think.
I've checked about Hawkwind's Masters of the Universe song. Apparently it was available as a CD single but not a 7".
There's a good best of Hawkwind album of the same name which can be picked up fairly cheap and that song is on it.

Wonderful stuff. I’ve got a feeling one of Nico’s band might have ended up in Simply Red, but I may have that wrong? I must listen to that Stereolab, it’s one ive never investigated.I enjoy the Suffolk Record collector, & like a lot of my favourite channels I don’t have any knowledge of 80% of what he shows.. I’m yet to own any of the records shown that everyone should own! I’m not a fan of Prog, but Larks Tongue is one of my favourite albums, so must check out Starless.

    • @baggyhi-fi8628
      @baggyhi-fi8628  Рік тому

I don’t like the sound of Nico’s band in her final Manchester days, too much twiddling and cheesy string synth - so maybe it’s good you can hardly hear them on that live record I showed! Starless is certainly in the vein of Lark’s Tongues. Pretty aggressive and evil sounding in parts and the live stuff on side two is incredible. Best wishes for 2024!

Another good video john, notice you have a copy of Mike McCartney's "Woman" album in the background, great album, not easy as you know to find. Like his albums, also Go Man Gorman, Grimms, Scaffold e.c.t.

Yes, ‘Woman’ is a nice album but my copy is not in good condition, sadly. I love Grimms and especially The Scaffold but haven’t come across Go Man Gorman. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I need to check out the new Rain Parade. 67 was a good year for the Monkees. I love music from the 70’s and 80’s but I had to go with the 60’s. Picking a country has to be between England and the US. I have seen people pick France, Germany, Canada and Australia. I do love music from all those countries but let’s get real. Their output pales in comparison and often their music is influenced by England and the US.
I rather enjoy all your videos.

Showing those Monkees albums made me play them again. Some brilliant songs.
