On the lock procedure, you mention tying up to the centre cleat when you enter the lock. Obvious concern is this will lead those inexperienced to a hung boat unless plenty of slack is used.
Surely this is wrong. If you are on your own and lock is on self service you need to press the button to empty the lock and make haste back to your boat to ease off your lines as the water drops. Never tie your boat in the lock when the water is dropping.
