So happy to hear that you are keeping acapella on your channel. I love this video with the acting, language changes and oh my word the harmonies. Ashley Dianne works so well with Ceasar's voice. Thank you for your awesome reaction again Mortius
So happy I caught the premiere. Cesar steals the show with his voice and acting. I love how they blended in the Spanish version that my Puerto Rican best friend's mother always sang when we were kids. "Those Geoff things" is an accurate way of describing that man's voice, haha! It's also a nice rare treat to get another song with Layne on vocals. Congrats on 40k subs and the new Open Arms Reactions channel. Loving your work over there with Casper.
This video is different (in a good way) from what VoicePlay brings us and it's undeniable how adorable Cesar and Ashley are together. 🥰🥰 I loved it.❤❤❤❤❤
Absolutely be proud of yourself for picking up on the arrangement style! (And for being familiar with who Rob Dietz actually is - some reactors also checked who arranged this but then didn't recognize his name). Also you sinking fully out of frame at Geoff's super low vocal line was amazing 😂
I was actually rather surprised that most of the reactors didn't know who Rob Dietz was considering they always look at who arranges VoicePlay's Music and Rob has arranged for them before. He's usually the Co-Arranger though, so, maybe, the reactors never saw his name because all they saw was Geoff, Layne, or Eli and just ignored the fact that they had a Co-Arranger? But yeah, I knew, almost immediately, that this wasn't arranged by VoicePlay. I could feel the difference, like, 30 seconds in. I was like, "Hang on. This sounds different. Who arranged this?" Then I saw the name and went, "Ah. That would do it." Admittedly, I didn't really like this arrangement the first time I heard it. But after repeated listenings due to watching reactions, I have come to appreciate it. It's a beautiful arrangement. Making it Spanglish was brilliant and making it a breakup regret song between two people is so VoicePlay. That being said, I do prefer VoicePlay's arrangements more. However, I don't mind Rob popping in once in a while as a guest Solo Arranger. He's, obviously, worked with them for a long time and knows their voices well enough to arrange properly for them. As long as he doesn't stray too far from VoicePlay's style, I've got no problems with him.
@@ForeverDegenerate He was the solo arranger for We're Good and Good 4 U, and he co-arranged Dream On and Sleeping In The Cold Below with Geoff. He's also the sole arranger or at least co-arranger for a large majority of the Minis
@@felicitymcdonald24 I haven't watched/listened to We're Good or Good 4 U so that's good to know. And I didn't know he arranged most of the Minis so, also good to know.
I'm a bit late but I wanted to chime in and say that I found you while desperately scrounging for Epic content a few months ago but I also love acapella and it just so happens that everything your channel does is right up my alley!!
Fun fact: Jim Steinman, who originally wrote this song, also used it in the German musical Tanz der Vampire (Dance of the Vampires) he wrote the music for in 1997. It opens up the second act and is a duet between the female protagonist - a young girl who is tired of her very safe and boring life - and the vampire antagonist who is tempting her with what he can offer. Sadly the English version of the show bombed spectacularly due to really bad rewrites but the original is awesome and definitely worth checking out. =) Studio recording of Totale Finsternis (this song) with video: ua-cam.com/video/1qfpNPdiFLY/v-deo.html Filmed live on stage: ua-cam.com/video/kY-dLnxg8SE/v-deo.html Entire show with English subtitles (playlist, this song is in the fourth video): ua-cam.com/video/cOzoxa2hNcI/v-deo.html
I’ve been waiting for your latest VP reaction. I always get a kick out of how much you enjoy their music. It just makes me happy and to appreciate them all the more.
Mortius, you aca-dork, thank you making me smile and laugh while I've been sick and can't sing! Kuddos to Kaitlyn for the correct translations, yay multilingualism!
This is the reaction I've been waiting for! You noticed immediately the story that was being told along with the beautiful music. You catch every note that hits differently. I can't even think of the words to say how much I'm loving watching your reaction, Mortius! You rock!
Yep. Instant favorite. And this is one where you really FEEL Geoff. And Eli loaned a little bit of his Rock God goodness to Cesar in this. I adore Ashley and Cesar heading the singing. It's just perfect. And I want that "Saved By The Bell" shirt dagnabit! I bet in this instance, that goes for a higher price than Geoff's.💙
This is one of my favorites already - the music, the video, the story, the key change (I'm always a sucker for a key change). Also the suspended chord at the end. Well done VP, well done Mortius!
This was such a fun reaction to watch. Ceasers acting wsd just incredible.I enjoy watching how you react to voiceplay and especially how Geoff melts the brain. Thank you for another fun reaction.
I didn't catch it until someone else pointed it out, but those first few 'bell-tone-y' notes at the beginning echo the piano intro in the original Bonnie Tyler version before they sort of slide off on a different tangent. Your reaction at 9:10: Yeah, me too 🤣
I'd never heard their stuff before so im so so happy i got to find new stuff! Also just because i think you might like it theres a musical called "36 questions" that was basically released as a podcast its completed now and its got animatics and stuff and id love love to see you react to it whenever you get the time! But thank you for the awesome reactions and for sharing your videos with us!❤
Came here for the a Cappella (sometime around the dawn of Home Free on this channel). Stayed for the musicals. Love seeing that all my favorite groups will be making a come-back.
I discovered you with voice play. But I discovered EPIC with you and I'm so thankful to you for that. And I'm happy to watch again voice play with you ❤
Rob has arranged for them several times, especially for their shorts/minis. Eli told him the direction he wanted it to go and Rob just went with it. I loved Ashey's alto at the beginning, it is gorgeous. If it had been Geoff, Layne, or Eli arranging, Geoff would have dropped an octave at the end.
Hey, I get this is a bit of a long shot, but I was wondering if you’d ever check out any Newfangled Four. There’s one song they do that not only would I love to see you listen to them, but also they discuss their insecurities they have with the music industry that I’d love to see your perspective on (it is through a comedy lens though, which makes it fun). Anyway, if you don’t, totally understandable, but it’s still a fun listen to so if you ever have some free time, check out Bear Necessities by NF4
Hello Mr. Mortius, I understand that this may not be your usual genre, but I would like to recommend a song to you. As a fellow musical theater performer, I believe you will appreciate it. The song is called "The Funny Man's Smile," and it is a beautiful tribute to Robin Williams. To anyone who may come across this comment, I highly recommend that you look up and listen to this song. It is a hidden gem that deserves to be shared all across the internet. I hope you have a wonderful day or night, whichever it may be for you.

Yay for Mortius being back with acapella; you just can't quit us!
It is truly beautiful, plus a lovely storyline and it is unique sonically.
No way Cesar is giving up,that shirt it’s so Cesar! ❤
Oooo...my fave shirt here is Layne's. Also very '80s.
Lovely reaction! Thanks for the translation.
I'll be sticking around for any Geoff, VoicePlay, or Home Free reactions.
Wednesday-Capella! Been here from the early days, and live the way you and the channel(s) have grown. Love you Mortius (and Mason and Kaylee)! 🩷💜

Thank you for reacting to a Voice Play I had yet to see, it's a fantastic arrangement and so beautifully performed and presented.
Peter Barber calls Geoff's "monotone" a bass line. It runs under the rest of the vocals just like a bass guitar would. Great reaction.❤❤
I’ve been waiting for your latest VP reaction. I always get a kick out of how much you enjoy their music. It just makes me happy and to appreciate them all the more.
Love the song and the reaction was terribly fun. VP reactions are still my favorite thing that you do. Good fun!

*Geoff does a bass line*
*Mortius melts into a puddle on floor*
🤣
@5:45 Instead of calling it monotone, it is usually refereed to as a pedal tone when it happens in the base like here.
Total Eclipse of the Heart is one of my all time favourite, Cesar and Ashley voices are so beautiful and the rest of the guys mix with them so well.

A little barbershop would be fun!
Were you thinking drone rather than monotone? I think I have heard Peter Barber call it that...
