- We take the Mendenhall Glacier & Mt Roberts Tour in Juneau, Alaska.
We purchased it onboard the Carnival Miracle for $80 each.
This was recorded in September 2021.
The restaurant at Mt Roberts tram is good and the shop has native art for purchase--- and the hiking trail is along mountain top. We enjoyed watching the sunset on the channel which was memorably glorious--great photography from there in good weather.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have good weather. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
I hope have this weather when I go in 2024 on the Norwegian Jewel. Love a rainy day in Alaska.
The odds are pretty good. It has rained on us in Ketchikan and Juneau every time we went recently. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
Never been to Juneau without it raining.
Went there In June of 2022 we got lucky it was sunny and 75 degrees.
We were there again this past September, and it was still raining. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to a channel.
Such a helpful video. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
Great way of showing the tour, hiking and the tram. I liked how you are explaining as you are walking along, and being calm and enjoying your time. How long was the time for the whole tour from pick up to drop off at the ship? Thank you
The round-trip from the ship to Mendenhall glacier was about two hours total. 20 minutes on the bus to get there in 20 minutes to get back. And about an hour or so at the glacier. The bus dropped us off at the Tramway, which is near the ship. We rode up the Tramway and spent about an hour, hiking in the rain before coming back down and going back to the ship. @@PortMonkeysThank you for the details. Really appreciate it. You are welcome.
Nice video....I have a question for you......What video camera are you using, do you also have a tripod with it, if so what make.
Thanks! This was shot almost entirely with a GoPro Hero 9. Most of our videos are shot with GoPros. We have aLarge Manfrotto tripods and small GoPro tripods. but we did not use a tripod on this video. It was all handheld with some sort of GoPro handle (we have a few). GoPros have built in stabilization and the program we edit with has a stabilization component if we need more. We hope that is not too much info. Thanks for your comments and thanks for subscribing to our channel.
@@PortMonkeys Thank you for this information. I like your videos and tours of the different ships. I am planning a trip to Alaska this May and I am trying to decide between a obstructed Oceanview E121 on the Grand Princess or a obstructed Balcony E415 on the Royal Princess.
@@edwardgramauskas5866 We would take a balcony over and oceanview any day, even if it’s obstructed.
@@edwardgramauskas5866 Princess is an excellent choice--do go hear the port talks and naturalist talks!
Where were the park rangers?
Inside staying dry. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
Complaining about puddles and mud and then complaining about asphalt on the trials. This is a rainforest so you are the dummy for not having worn rubbers or boots. She then you announce the presence of restrooms. NOBODY CARES. Very poor commentary.
Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
We appreciate their commentary.
You were looking in the wrong part of alaska. I volunteer at a local summer camp here in the interior of Alaska and yes the ranger's name is Richard.
Someday. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
When we took the tram it was a miserable rainy day like this, except we actually got above the cloud cover! We couldn't see the ground, only white, but it was sunny and hot up there!
Not for us. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
You are braver than I am taking that “bear trail” instead of sticking with the crowd on main trail to the glacier area.
We want to see a bear. And I have a can of bear spray with me. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
@@PortMonkeys Where does one pick up the bear spray? I don't think you traveled with it from home, right? Thank you.
@@janedandrea6065 I’d like to know the same.
Looks like you guys were waring hiking boots. Did it keep your feet dry in the rain that day?
Yes they did! Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
In a rain day and tour junaeo excelant video
Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
Really appreciate seeing the trails. We did the Mt. Roberts trail loop and it was beautiful, but it was a hike!
That is awesome! Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
So glad you gave this tour in the rain! Can I ask how many layers of clothing you had on? Also what type of boots did you all wear?
Just a shirt and a jacket. It was not that cold, just wet. The boots are just cheap Khombu boots from Costco. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
Thank you for the Costco direction for boots as I wouldn't have thought of that@@PortMonkeys
Very good video!
Did the tour bus have a restroom in the back?
It might have, we didn’t use it. The bus ride isn’t that long. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
Oh the shuttle looks like a better idea than the city bus, especially if raining.
It’s more convenient, but it cost way more.
What rainproof pants do you recommend?
I don’t have any rainproof pants, so I can’t answer that question.
Your walking tour videos are the best.
Thank you very much!
The way you talk to your wife is annoying. You're going to "let' her go get a charm. You're going to grant her wish to get a burger. She's not your pet or your child.
We were joking around.
@@PortMonkeys K. Well maybe throw in a few jokes about what she's allowing you to do then. 👍
Slippery trail
Not too bad.
I found it hard to hear your commentary whilst the tour guide was talking. Not enjoyable, sorry.
Sorry to hear that. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
