Thank you for sharing your views on consuming healthy bacteria. In the past 4 years I’ve noticed that for a society that obsesses about cleanliness, as a whole we are very unhealthy. I am in much better condition since beginning on the raw milk, whole food, natural medical remedies, etc journey. It’s nice to know others out there feel the same :)

I’m a new subscriber and I am fascinated with your videos and your lifestyle. One of my grandmothers was raised on a farm and she lived on a farm all her life while raising her 10 children. I remember her having canning jars filled with many types of fruits and vegetables. She would cook the wild game her “boys” would get while out hunting. I used to love her fried rabbit and squirrel. She made her own biscuits every week and I loved watching her make the dough in her wooden oblong bowl. I’m mentioning all this to illustrate that I think people were so much healthier when their food was homemade and they worked every day to have the security of enough food to feed their families. Knowing now about all the chemicals and additives being put into processed foods, it’s no wonder so many people have way more health issues. It’s very scary.
Thank you for helping to preserve some of these forgotten food prep methods and sharing them with your audience. Have you ever watched or heard of Mary’s Nest on UA-cam? She cooks and preserves according to “pioneer” methods and gives a lot of information on nutrition and the importance of eating whole foods. Both of your channels are so important!
Hope your voice is feeling better soon!
    ❤-Brenda

I'm really surprised more homesteaders and old-time canners aren't using a steam canner. They are a game-changer. The only thing steam canners don't work for is anything you need to process for more than 45 minutes (because you'd run out of water and you can't open it to refill during the process).

Watching your apples get pressed into cider was interesting and knowing a family member was doing it for you was touching. I miss my dad and all the members of that generation of our family. Their ways of talking was a little different that the younger generation and it touched my heart. Thank you for explaining all the benefits of raw apple cider as I was completely unaware. Thank you for showing us everything apples. My brother in law has a huge apple tree in his garden in Brittany and I'm always able to bring back home so many kilos of apples. He only keeps some for eating and never does anything with the rest. They keep quite well in the refrigerator, as you said, but I also use them to make chunky compote or jelly by adding them to quince. I also make crumbles or use them in recipes with pork. The cuisine of Normandy likes adding cider and:or apples to their recipes made with pork chops or other cuts of pork.
The process of extracting the juice was most interesting to watch.

What a great video, really enjoyed it. The apple press was an eye opener for me, so basic but so efficient, I am sure that the dregs would be fed to livestock. Thank you for your time in putting all these videos together so we can watch you and your family. Best wishes from England.

I loved watching the old cidar press! It tastes so much better raw. Fortunately, we have an orchard that still does it naturally and pasteurized. I may stop by there today after stopping at the farm we go to for meat, eggs, and butter. God is good, indeed.❤ Thank you for taking us along. I love your videos, and I hope everyone has a place to get really good food and cider.

Hi Miss Ruthann! Great, informative video as always! I have learned so much from you, especially about canning and preserving God's wonderful bounty and gifts! I just love the little peeks we get into your life. Most Americans will never be able to live like you all do, in fact sadly, they wouldn't want to, seeing only the hard work and blindly missing the rewards and the great love in your family. Your grandson is getting so big, and what a handsome boy!!❤❤
God Almighty bless you with continued bounty and good health for your entire family! Happy Fall!!❤❤❤

Thank you Ruthann as usual you have taught me more great things.
I used to freeze my soups in containers & they always took up so much space, now I put my soups (like green pea n ham) into ziplock bags I lay them flat on a cookie tray until they’re frozen then stack them. I also make soups like pea soup more concentrated when I’m planning to freeze it and then add water when I reheat it. I don’t have room to freeze extra water.

I'm SO glad you were blessed with so many apples. We have had none this year. An orchard near us presses cider and sells it raw. It tastes SO GOOD!
I am saving space in the freezer for my pork order, but might have to get a few extra gallons of cider into freezer bags and make room in the freezer.
Fortunately, we canned extra applesauce last year, and I dehydrated some extra too, as the trees around me tends to bear more heavily every other year.
I'm grateful that your father's cousin let you film the pressing process. The only ones I've seen used are smaller wooden ones that you crank by hand. ❤

This is a special day for me, all my favorite videos are airing! Our extended family love anything apple. We always made applesauce. My homemade sauce was much requested for family potlucks/dinners. I make mine differently as we like chunky applesauce so I peel, cook spice and skip the food mill.
What a wonderful way to warm your house, with the smell of cooking apples!
Hope you are feeling better soon

Ruth Ann, I enjoy your channel so very much. I learned the "Art" of canning, pickling and preserving from my Grandmother and Aunt years ago. However, I find it so interesting to see the various nuances of other individuals techniques. Watching how you can and preserve food has added validity to some of the ways that I was taught. The cider pressing was a wonderful share. Again, bringing such fond memories of pressing apples to mind. Your storage cellar is a beautiful array of color and comfort. God is Good. ❣❣❣
