Amazing work Chris, well done and thank you as ever for these fascinating videos. You deserve much credit for keeping the history of these historic sites alice alive. As I have always felt these brave souls probably don't realise that they have died and that they are no longer on duty and that the world has moved on. Much respect to your Dad and your great RAF. Take care my friend and thanks again. Keep em coming brother ❤
I did a couple of weeks military training at RAF North Luffenham ( Rutland ) around 2010 ! We were billeted in the old officers mess off the base . A modernish building built in the 1950s or 60s. A couple of the guys / ladies saw late at night a man walking around in an RAF Officer's uniform ! One of the lasses saw him twice . Apparently he killed himself with a pistol back in the 1960s ! They were no RAF personnel billeted in the building at the time !! Only my unit , which was Army !
Fab... I'll never forget that experience..the officer I saw was dressed in black which was very different from the British officers...I later pointed out the uniform on paper to the officers present and they confirmed it to be the French ghostly visitor often reported during their formal Mess occasions
so becuase you didn't witness anything are you saying it doesn't happen ?? thats a very insular attitude to take...i'd say 90% of people never witness anything - does that make the 10% wrong ?
I'm so glad that you are recounting these stories again, Chris. But it's so sad that these spirts are still wandering around their old airfield. Lovely photos of the Spits in the snow!
I used to be a Police Officer some er years ago! I spent a good proportion of my 30 years on nights, alone in the dark, patrolling many spooky places with reputations of being haunted and attending "incidents" at places like stately homes where it was suspected that intruders had got in. Often owners or staff would have heard something or thought they had seen something and jumped to the conclusion it was burglars. In all that time I never heard or saw anything even slightly supernatural and to this day I am really disappointed. Some colleagues did but not many spoke about their experiences.
it is unfortunately an unpredictable thing and getting people to speak of their experiences can be difficult as they don't want to appear "a nut" as one described it to me
so far - out of maybe 650 RAF Airfields i have approaching 300 where i have accounts of things happening or being seen......the hardest part is getting people to talk about their experiences 8)
Loved these stories. Very scary for the people who witnessed the ghosts. Do you know if the former base of RAF Downham Market has any ghosts? If so i would love to hear them as it's only a few miles down the road from me. Thanks Chris 👍
Again, I really do love these stories. I must visit the UK again someday, this time without the old ball and chain.
Great stories all. Really enjoyed Eileen’s experience. Another treasure here Chris!!

thank you Sam - first account of North Luff (st george's barracks as it now is) being haunted - have added it to the files
Great stories. Personal accounts are fascinating. As others have said, it’s sad that these airmen may still be bound by duty.

thanks again Eileen

Great video as always, Chris!
The phenomenons have a lot of common traits even from completely unrelated airfields. Great videos.
Was at an WW2 RAF station for over 20 years. Never saw a damn thing other than real life staff.

Very striking images of a bygone era.
@@commandingjudgedredd1841 I think I'd rather be in that era than present-day UK...
@@suepalin9202 Can't argue with that.
Always saddens me when I see closed or abandoned air base's when one thinks at one time very brave soul's have pass throughout them never to return .
there were about 650 airfields plus WW1 landing fields etc - theres 35 or so now

I used to work security on MOD base on the south coast and I can tell every single one was haunted and it is very common for old sites to be haunted.
