My base got destroyed early, so was one of my teammates. So I ran and rebuilt behind my teammate's base. We decided to dock the river and concentrated it with navy, together with bombard towers/cannons behind. Taking how OP the cannon galleons of Spanish (very accurate/fast firing/affected by ballistics) and Turks (15+2 range, so not even trebs could out range) We squeezed our whole team in a corner of an area for only about 1.5 players with a perfect moat. We basically defended the whole way like that without attacking. With highly inefficient trade, we could still hold the line because we didn't lose a lot of units. Nothing could get close, not onagers, not bombard cannons, not trebs. At about 3 hour mark in game time, the opponent team started losing their focus (and minds). We could tell some of them just queued up trash units and let them attack automatically while being AFK. It took so long they started to resign. In the end all but 1 of them resigned. It became 3 vs 1, so they decided it's over. (one of my side thought it was hopeless to hold and gave up early) You may think this is just a noob, or coward way (I was always a noob, actually I never really reached even the "intermediate" level back then) to win, defending and physically exhausting your opponents to victory. But there wasn't a better choice. And for us it was highly entertaining trying to survive in such tiny pocket land and hold to defend. This was the greatest experience that I literally just played defensively the whole way to win.

Never heard of this guy but I'd absolutely play him, just to see if i could beat him at his own game. Gotta respect that devotion to 1v1 black forest. I'd get some snacks, a water bottle and make sure my saturday schedule was completely free, put on a long playlist of some calming music and see who has the better patience! >:)
That was my thought, build your own wall in the middle right away and try for a 200 villager boom, just have enough production buildings to quickly switch to military if the forests start to thin out, or if you see him being aggressive. But a skilled player I think could put eco fatslob and once the map is an open map, I think skill will out micro/macro the guy
4 years ago I watched this video and it got me interested in aoe2. Iv been watching your videos for 4 years and yesterday I played my first game of aoe2. I skipped the tutorial to play with friends and didn’t know how to make a barracks or make my special unit. Today I figured out you can upgrade farms and wood cutting speed. Fun game.
The best tactic is actually to sneak in your starting villagers into his base without him knowing, hide them in the corner of his side of the map, then rush the hell out of him
This is an Age of Empires serial killer. Fatslob lures his victims into playing his game with his rules They can kick they can scream but it's futile They are just another number to Fatslob.
/r/quityourbullshit. 1. "he sent every villager": He didn't send every villager as you initially said, there was always at least one back at the towncenter. I love how rather than admit that you made an invalid statement you've changed "every" to "nearly every". You could also just ignore my comment instead of digging yourself in deeper. 2. "at the sight of forward walling": He didn't see forward walling, the villagers met at approximately the center of the pathway, not forward, so even with your insertion of additional wording the statement is still invalid. Red had a window to make forward walls at ~1:11 but he didn't, instead he opted to kill slob's villager and scout.
You seem very triggered for someone who totally won his first game against some scrub waller. Casts some doubt on your total pro play 3 years ago, you can't back up. lol
I love this guy. He's just an old man trying to play the game the way he likes and doesn't give one damn about what everyone thinks about it. It's honestly pretty wholesome.
The "a" needs to come first other wise you're mixing the names incorrectly - The "Da" comes from "Daut" and the "iper" from "Viper", to put the "i" before the "a" would indeed spell the word correctly, but would no longer be an amalgamation of their names.
Seems like his strat would only work if he has better access to gold, like he did here, which would peg his win rate to around 50%. The extra wins on top of that presumably come from opponents getting tilted/bored and leaving. And as uuamenator points out, there are ways of beating his strat. Viper recently played him and was winning easily with better treb micro, but then the game crashed and fatslob refused to restore. (Which was really BM, but expected.)
well he has been playing for a century if he was playing this at 1999. He played both in 1900 and 2000 and there for he played for a century. Cuse then he has been playing in 2 diffrent centurys
I heard of Fatslob, never played against him and never will do it. He is one of the reasons why I really love the change that made onagers cut trees and i would never play a non-wololo-BF game.
I remember one community game where you were telling us about a guy who only ever plays 1v1 Gigantic Crater Lake... perhaps it's time for this legend to be told in video?
SO I started watching T90 this year, I'm totally hooked. He releases a Fatslob Christmas special and i need to see this from the beginning. Like if we are in the same boat.
Hairy_Davis only plays 1v1 giant crater lake every single game, CainVelazxxx has over 4000 games, every single one was a trush. Teamgame and he is pocket? Trush. been inactive for almost a year though.
The biggest shock of all is that fatslob actually has 1 friend on Voobly!!! I played him a couple of years ago over Christmas. He doesn't beat you, he makes you so salty you beat yourself. I played pretty much like his opponent here. Tried to break through in feudal. Didn't work. Tried to break through in castle. Nope. Tried to break through in early imp. No chance. I wasted so much res trying to break him I was broke when he pushed out. I put two vils behind thirty odd layers of stone walls, then showered, changed, ate etc. while he had to break them all. I bet he didn't care.
nope, I think this guy is the type of person who'd break through 30 layers of fortified wall with a single treb without taking his eyes off the health bar for even a second
Fatslob vs TheViper, Fatslob's settings. If anyone can beat him it's Viper. Can't tell you how much I would love to see them fight it out, and to see Viper get salty!
Kiwani Fatslob has a winrate of 55%... It’s actually pretty bad considering he plays on his own settings the whole time. There are enough people that can beat him.
It's pretty awesome to come back here, years down the line. Tristan's mic quality, his stuffy-sounding voice, but above all, the comfy vibes that always surround Fatslob games. Man.
>Turtling up while constantly stopping your opponent from even breaking your defences by blocking off sneak attack locations before they can even attempt to use them while maximizing the resources in your land Can't believe somebody managed to pull this off so well against a player, I've only seen it done to this extent on SP games. Must be infuriating to play against when people tend to always play the offensive rather than defensive. Rogal Dorn would be proud
I remember that I used to turret wall in RA and Galactic Battlegrounds instead of doing anything else. I just built nothing but turrets until I couldn't build any more. I surrounded all resources with turret walls and I slowly inched power plants to the enemy base and walled it off with even more turrets turning it into a prison camp and wait for them to ragequit. I once created a map in GB for a new player which gave us both absurd amounts of resources and told him we'd build up our armies and bases and begin attacking each other after a couple hours at a specified time. He made me agree to keep all combat troops on my side of the map and I agreed. When the time came, he sent everything he had out only to find that in front of his base was a wall of regular turrets followed by another wall of AA turrets, followed by another wall of regular turrets with droids between them to do repairs and so on all the way up to my base and covering the entire map from his base down. I left him a pathway with many gated sections zig-zagging all the way to my skeleton of a base and as he desperately tried to make his way there, then I began building up my forces. Bless his trusting heart, he tried so hard before the end. I left his base standing, now effectively a concentration camp, he quit and we had a laugh. But he swore never to play me in an rts again.
Yeaaa... This just feels... so lame. I can only imagine he does it to frustrate people (it's exactly what i'd do if i'm salty and playing against a friend just to aggravate them)... so is he literally spending hours and hours, over a decade, doing the exact same thing, with the sole intent of irritating people? isn't that like, the definition of a mild psychopath?
I actually beat fatslob 3 times and then he refused to play vs me again. The key is just to win a vill war in the beginning because his micro sucks. He even resigned before 15 minutes once i got my palisade right at the edge of the forest. Free rating points!
@@kooroshrostami27 How is that relevant? I doubt anyone you are replying to is 70, and we all know fatslob isn't anywhere near that old. The only evidence of his age that we have, is fatslob personally saying that he's not as old as his profile implies. I mean seriously, have you never picked a random DOB on your gaming profiles?
This is the video that made me comeback to aoe2. Now I'm playing on DE but the fact that this showed up in my youtube feed some years ago changed my life and I have to go back sometimes to this just to remember the moment when I realized that my childhood game was still alive.
I don't play AoE because I suck at it, but in the games I DO play this is how I like to play. I don't like intense, risky, razer's edge fights. I like long sieges, stealing little advantages, posturing and playing mindgames. Ambushes and complicated fortifications are so much more fun to me than a big open field. Fatslob is my hero, bringing defensive gameplay to AoE Meta.
Great video! Did you know that you are in a book? Tonio Schachinger wrote a book where he talks about you, its called Echtzeitalter. Idk if its translated into english but it won the german book prise so translation may be coming.
I clicked because it was in my recommended videos. I was a big player of Age of Empires: Age of Kings, for the DS, a turn-based instead of RTS, played a lot of AoE online, and this was very entertaining for me to watch, especially with the commentary. Thanks!
Ya know the Red player couldve actually won this if he had some more strategy in his brain other then rushing. The best thing he couldve potentially done is slowly start cutting his way through the long way around , whilst makeing it appear like hes still trying to attack futilely from the front and thus clouding his true strategy by appearing like a dumbass. But then again maybe he was just so annoyed that he just resorted to walling himself off too....but he really shouldve used that time to think.
He actually replied to this on his voobly profile saying: Hi all! Fatslob here :) Really liked the youtube video T90. U made an extremly boring game seem quite entertaining with your comments. This guy is my kind of player. Also holy hell, I coughed a lung from laughing so much when you panned the camera over to the middle section and red had stationed 20 trebuchets there.
This reminds me of my friend's dad who got us into the game back in 2000-ish. All he ever does is Black Forest, mega wall the middle, then slowly cut around the back with villagers, and react to anything the opponent does. It's insanely frustrating to play against. You spend so much time only to miscalculate and get taken advantage of.
Byzantium was never under siege that year. Perhaps you meant the date that Byzantium was renamed to Constantinople after Roman Emperor Constantine the Great, which was in 330 AD. The big siege of Constantinople was the Ottoman siege in 1453, after which the city was renamed to Istanbul. The city was also under siege and then sacked during the Fourth Crusade in 1204.
Officially, yes, when the Turk capital moved to Ankara. But it was known as Istanbul even before its fall, and even before its sack by the Catholics. Istanbul, derived from Greek "stim'boli" - 'in the city' or 'to the city', in Arabic without the 'i' therefore 'stanbul'. In effect, it was known as The City. Sources from the time of the Ottomans only use its official name on formal documents and coinage. Otherwise, even city civil and military officials use the informal name in their titles, i.e. İstanbul ağası, the highest military commander. It was sort of like the Big Apple, or the Windy City.
Players like that require outside teh box thinking- plowing woods out from a far-flung corner and rushing from teh side or behind could be more effective than "head on"
I played AoE2 couple of times few years ago, I didn't except it has so big community. I love it that all these players have their own, passionate communities!
Recently discovered T90s channel with the release of AoE II DE..man this guy is truly a Legend. As he said he has amazing endurance. All his matches on BF all Viking Wars. A legend is all I can say.
This is why I love this channel and this community, and btw. I'm not even playing AoE! Like at all! Yet, it's fascinating to watch and listen to those commentaries. Those unique characters that can be found there? Amazing! And hats of to T90 for covering such quirky and unique individuals. Though watching pros duke it out in tournaments is exciting, but honestly all those folk you never hear about who have such strange strats? It's a spice that makes this content so delicious
I played him back in the day as a beginner. I actually imitated his style a few Black Forest games after that cause I was too slow to be playing PvP at that point, and I figured it would buy me time for a massive military. Memories.
Fatslob reminds me of me and my friend who would only play company of heroes 1 and 2, annihilation on achelous river only. Camp at the beginning. Take 1-3 hours per match. Mass artillery. Still have a blast every time.
you cant tell but we played that whole game on super speed, that game was actually like 2 hours, he probably didn't have 2 more hours to finish the match
Lubin he/she didn't resign.. tried to save and exit to continue later. Fat slob probably chose to continue and since he was the only player left, he won
I feel like he’s just an older guy enjoying the game. That’s exactly how my dad plays AoE, same settings all the time for the last 10 years and just playing defensively with the only turtling strategy he knows.

Now that's a true legend. Someone whose pride doesn't exceed the heavens themselves... those are quite rare now-a-days.
As many, I considered myself to be better than him in general, but his fighting is actually good. (I'm 1680)
players like that make the game interesting, they're REAL strategists who don't listen to your shitty standards for gameplay
Fatslob is definitely a legend!

But a skilled player I think could put eco fatslob and once the map is an open map, I think skill will out micro/macro the guy
just did a 4h black forest 8 players FFA XD
4 years ago I watched this video and it got me interested in aoe2. Iv been watching your videos for 4 years and yesterday I played my first game of aoe2. I skipped the tutorial to play with friends and didn’t know how to make a barracks or make my special unit. Today I figured out you can upgrade farms and wood cutting speed. Fun game.
The best tactic is actually to sneak in your starting villagers into his base without him knowing, hide them in the corner of his side of the map, then rush the hell out of him
i played against him i went fast imp with viks. when i hit imp he resigned lol
@@etc0898I'll take things that never happened for $400
This is an Age of Empires serial killer.
Fatslob lures his victims into playing his game with his rules
They can kick they can scream but it's futile
They are just another number to Fatslob.
I played him about 3 times a few years back. Once I knew his strategy I just went for forward walls straight away and he resigned.
looks like he learned something, cuz he sent every villager out at the sight of forward walling.
Check again, he only sent 2 villagers initially.
you check again. He sent nearly every one after the engagement first started
"He's like a Viper Daut mix" - so he's Daiper?
Viput
The "a" needs to come first other wise you're mixing the names incorrectly - The "Da" comes from "Daut" and the "iper" from "Viper", to put the "i" before the "a" would indeed spell the word correctly, but would no longer be an amalgamation of their names.
grassFatslob
I expected his win ratio to be much better
Seems like his strat would only work if he has better access to gold, like he did here, which would peg his win rate to around 50%. The extra wins on top of that presumably come from opponents getting tilted/bored and leaving. And as uuamenator points out, there are ways of beating his strat. Viper recently played him and was winning easily with better treb micro, but then the game crashed and fatslob refused to restore. (Which was really BM, but expected.)
Post a game where you beat him then.
RunsWithBears - Wow, so edgy.
most losses are from Fatslob resigning because people start a villager fight. If you don't let him wall at the start, he will resign immediately
@@kooroshrostami27 so if they dont play his way, he takes his ball and goes home?
sounds like a lame player then.
a century is 100 years 10 years would be a decade.
I was looking for this comment. He must be old if he's been playing for a century!
LoL
he has been playing age of empires since world war one he was that legend that told the french to turtle in the war so they would not loose
fucking right? hahaha
well he has been playing for a century if he was playing this at 1999.
ReaperCH90 I played against him like 3 times now it's more fun than you might think especially when you get the bulk of the relics
that onager change would make his play style futile right?

I remember one community game where you were telling us about a guy who only ever plays 1v1 Gigantic Crater Lake... perhaps it's time for this legend to be told in video?
GhostOfYoda fwiw, t90 did this already by now: /watch?v=dPuVvOiHGTo , The Legend of Hairy_Davis :-B
The laugh when he saw red put all those trebuchets behind his wall made my day
SO I started watching T90 this year, I'm totally hooked.
Never played Age of Empires, but as an RTS player I find this so fascinating and entertaining
He already lost half of his games. It would be fare if viper plays him without knowing his plan.
Born 1949
Viper would either beat him in 10 minutes with a villager rush or in 30 with a fast imp. Can't defend against trebs if you don't have any.
Kiwani. I would donate money to see a showmacth between fatslob and Viper with viper streaming his pov, too.
The moment someone says something isn't a strategy, they've lost because they can't comprehend different methods.
Exactly!
This is the Smash version of AoE

“If you don’t have enough artillery, quit.”

It's pretty awesome to come back here, years down the line. Tristan's mic quality, his stuffy-sounding voice, but above all, the comfy vibes that always surround Fatslob games. Man.
>Turtling up while constantly stopping your opponent from even breaking your defences by blocking off sneak attack locations before they can even attempt to use them while maximizing the resources in your land
Can't believe somebody managed to pull this off so well against a player, I've only seen it done to this extent on SP games. Must be infuriating to play against when people tend to always play the offensive rather than defensive. Rogal Dorn would be proud
This is like one of two AoE2 videos I've watched and UA-cam, and what a legendary pick it was.
He won a war with 18 deaths, hes a damn legend! (5 people died and 13 wooden machines)
I hate this guy just by watching him play
what why ? he plays smart on his settings.
I didn't say anything about his intelligence
Johannes Boczek I don't know what your talking about. I think I might have just found my new favorite AOE hero.
He is a hero but it makes me so salty to see this strategy work
Legend Of FATSLOB still continues !!! 2023
I actually beat fatslob 3 times and then he refused to play vs me again. The key is just to win a vill war in the beginning because his micro sucks. He even resigned before 15 minutes once i got my palisade right at the edge of the forest. Free rating points!
Seemed like the obvious move to fast castle, then use sappers and your superior eco to wear his defenses down without using gold.
Your micro will also suck when you are 70 years old
@@kooroshrostami27 How is that relevant? I doubt anyone you are replying to is 70, and we all know fatslob isn't anywhere near that old. The only evidence of his age that we have, is fatslob personally saying that he's not as old as his profile implies. I mean seriously, have you never picked a random DOB on your gaming profiles?
@@layceydidn't T90 or someone confirm his age?

Fatslob VS THE VIPER UNSTOPPABLE FORE VS IMMOVABLE OBJECT WHO WILL SUCCEED
This is the video that made me comeback to aoe2.
Now I'm playing on DE but the fact that this showed up in my youtube feed some years ago changed my life and I have to go back sometimes to this just to remember the moment when I realized that my childhood game was still alive.
It's crazy to think that in less than a year this video will be half a century old
Centuries go by really fast these days. Must be because of inflation.
Every other AOE2 player: I HAVE AN ARMY
Fatslob: i have walls
"I fear not the man who has practised 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who had practised one kick 10,000 times"
Watching this 3 years later. The mic upgrade since then is noticeable
He actually replied to this on his voobly profile saying:
Hi all! Fatslob here :)
Really liked the youtube video T90. U made an extremly boring game seem quite entertaining with your comments. Never knew i was a legend :) As u all know i suck at this but for some reason i love the game so much that i cant quit it. I found my way of playing the game so i can at least win some of the games ;) I am not playing to piss people off, I just play to win. Having said that i must admit its a little fun when people do get pissed off :) However i do enjoy long games, endurance is my middle name. Reason i seldom comments when people taunt me is that im fully occupied trying to play the game - multitasking is not my middlename :) But then again its kinda enjoyable when people start calling me an idiot and a noob, maybe they are right but then again what does it say about them losing to an idiotic noob ;) I am from Sweden, but I am a bit younger than my birthday info here implies.
To bad though that the video didnt show a game where i actually fight. Im not all about hiding I can actually fight pretty good once i get my economy and army togheter. But maybe we can c that in another video with me - the legend fatslob :)
had to come here to see who fatslob was from the WALL videos, would love to see these 2 fight
Siege of Byzantium 340 BC
Byzantium was never under siege that year. Perhaps you meant the date that Byzantium was renamed to Constantinople after Roman Emperor Constantine the Great, which was in 330 AD.
The big siege of Constantinople was the Ottoman siege in 1453, after which the city was renamed to Istanbul. The city was also under siege and then sacked during the Fourth Crusade in 1204.
Contantinople was renamed to Instanbul in the 1920s with the founding of the Turkish republic
@@TheSpicyLeg You're wrong. In that year Byzantium was put under siege by the Macedonians led by Philip (Alexander the Great's father)
Kurt Eugen Graf von Stuart-Schleicher Philip II was Alexander’s father, not Philip I.

I played AoE2 couple of times few years ago, I didn't except it has so big community. I love it that all these players have their own, passionate communities!
I feel physical pain watching this
Recently discovered T90s channel with the release of AoE II DE..man this guy is truly a Legend. As he said he has amazing endurance. All his matches on BF all Viking Wars. A legend is all I can say.
Amazing find! Need more of this stuff. You need to play him and have Dave be a spectator
Matthew Kenwrick best idea ever!
"Good luck, I'm behind 7 stone walls!"
Trump needs to hire this man.
Why is this so quiet compared to literally every other vid? I had to max it just to hear things, and even then it was mediocre at best.
here has normal i put on 50% and still great.
I'm out of Fatslob vids! So I'm watching this for the second time..
Third time now..
Yea boiiiii
Pls T90 do more of aoe2 community legends
I played him back in the day as a beginner. I actually imitated his style a few Black Forest games after that cause I was too slow to be playing PvP at that point, and I figured it would buy me time for a massive military. Memories.
Good video, man. I think you mentioned this guy in an AoE jeopardy video or something, so when I saw this I clicked right away. Not disappointed.
Is he over 70 years now of now? Just solidly doing what he’s good at. I applaud this.
Never laughed so hard from a game like this one. And nice commentary btw
Fatslob reminds me of me and my friend who would only play company of heroes 1 and 2, annihilation on achelous river only. Camp at the beginning. Take 1-3 hours per match. Mass artillery. Still have a blast every time.
Do you know these videos about artificial neural networks learning to play games?
Fatslobs playstyle lets me question his humanity. xD
I started watching you a lot recently with the LEL. I've heard many tales of the legendary fatslob, but I'd never actually seen him play.
I don't understand the point of that game. Can anyone explain me why Red resigned expect being bored ?
Lubin exactly, he loses to boredom. that's the whole point.
Lubin he had basically 0 gold. He was aware that he lost way more than fatslob and that fatslob had 4 relics and more banked gold.
you cant tell but we played that whole game on super speed, that game was actually like 2 hours, he probably didn't have 2 more hours to finish the match
Lubin he/she didn't resign.. tried to save and exit to continue later. Fat slob probably chose to continue and since he was the only player left, he won
Glad to see I'm not the only person who's been playing this game for decades
Hey T90, any way we can get a Viper vs fatslob on black forest best of 3?
"If you're a berserk, you turn into a monk past age 80." LOL .. That would be a seriously long-lived infantryman.
show some of those victory videos!
I feel like he’s just an older guy enjoying the game. That’s exactly how my dad plays AoE, same settings all the time for the last 10 years and just playing defensively with the only turtling strategy he knows.
I played this guy once. Oh god, what a torture!!
Man, this never gets old XD
I want to create a bot to fight him that literally just sits back, takes all the resources and let's the game go as long as possible.
Resigning before sending your main army into battle pretty much sums up the pathethicness of AoE2 and why I deleted it from my steam library.
P.S I reinstalled it a day latter. The game is just too damn addictive.
why didnt red just build wonder?
