Dang. I would've thought "Little Chocolate Donuts" would've been on here, even if it ended up between 20 and 11.
@@WatchMojo It featured two members of the original cast. I believe Newman and Curtain were in it.
One could legit make a better Top 20 list just by including all the classics you forgot
Bass o'Matic and Taco Town
dunkin donuts
No, "Opps I Crapped My Pants" ???😂
An absolute travesty, shame on you WatchMojo for not including the gem that is "Oops, I crapped my pants".
how do you know so much about Oops I crapped my pants?
@@Bound2Asgard Have you not watched any SNL in the 90's? Uncultured swine.
@@Bound2Asgard I'm just pulling your leg, but it was one of the best commercial parodies in the 90's.
That was the first one I thought of! Then pouring the iced tea in it was one of the funniest things 😂
"Swill" with Bill Murray. The way the sludge with bits of dirt slowly oozes out of the bottle and between the ice cubes (along with the tab) in the tall glass never fails to make me smile. So funny.
"An-ti-ci-pa=tion..."
Where is the amazing Bass-O-Matic.
Not included probably because they put a fish in a blender and certain super-soft parts of today's society would become traumatized if they viewed it.
That was the OG that I was waiting for.
"today we’re looking at the best PRE-TAPED mock ads aired on “Saturday Night Live”--said at start of video and repeated in description.
...and "Shimmer".."It's a floor wax, it's a desert topping."
The classic: “it’s a floor wax *and* a dessert topping!”
Nu Shimmer!
For the best shine you ever tasted!
Ah, good ol' Colon Blow. I used to tape that era as a young teen and watch them repeatedly. Hartman was a genius. 👍
Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy. 😂😂😂
The late 70's had one hilarious spoof with "puppy uppers",for your run down pup and doggy downers for your overly exciting dog
I laughed so hard I cried the first time I saw the Almost Pizza commercial.
They missed "Bad Idea" Jeans, one of the funniest bits of all time.
I didn’t use protection cuz I figured, when am I gonna be in Haiti again?
We are letting a recovering meth head stay in our home.
*Too bad WatchMojo couldn't start my day with "Little Chocolate Donuts."* ☹
HOW WAS THAT NOT ON THE LIST
Breakfast of champions!
‘Bad Idea Jeans’ is hilarious. And the Christmas Pandora charms spoof never gets old.
To this day I still use the phrase "You must be wearing Bad Idea jeans" when I notice somebody do or say something completely stupid.
I didn't want to have unprotected sex, but I realized "Hey, when is the next time you will be in Haiti?". Bad Idea Jeans
Still hate that Phil Hartman's wife murdered him in his sleep.
Three god damn ad breaks? Seriously?
She was a real jerk
Quarry: Better tastin’ cause it’s mined.
Like swimmin' holes and brimmin' bowls of cereal made from stones.
Who remembers the "Adobe" car?
Or the Chameleon
Yes!
German engineering and Mexican knowhow
Big Red, the toy viking that sprays red liquid all over the room.
He’s big, big ,big. And he’s red, red, red.
It's a floor wax, it's a dessert topping...
Do NOT taunt Happy Fun Ball !
Doooont you DO IT!!!!
Maybe it's filled with Almost Pizza?
Colon Blow is so famous that a box was on Pawn Stars as a real piece of SNL Merchandise
I once found it in a store along fake bottles of schmitt's gay. I laughed my ass off and sent a pic to my sister
"Mmmmm - Colon Blow! Sounds delicious!"
Help me out here because it's bugging the crap out of me. What real life brand is this a parody of because I can't remember the name of it.
@@Axetwin I think it was called Fiber Brand
@@mrsocko316 Was it Total?
absolutely the best SNL fake ads were the macy's holiday sale and heroin AM.
Old Glory Insurance, "Oops, I crapped my pants" adult diapers, Puppy Uppers and Doggy Downers, "Hey You" the perfume for one night stands, Jewess Jeans ads, Little Chocolate Doughnuts, and of course the navy recruitment ad, "it's not just a job, it's $98.76 a week".
Yeah, this missed a lot of the great 70's commercials
Remember watching the Colon Blow cereal ad when it first aired along with my sister and her boyfriend.
Her boyfriend and I were chuckling the entire time through when, immediately after it ended, my sister quite seriously said, "I should try that."
Needless to say, both of us guys were literally rolling on the floor laughing until completely out of breath while she looked at us wondering what was so damn funny.
"Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball". That phrase always makes me giggle. I started using the word "taunt" incessantly after that episode, lol. Threatening to taunt people if they didn't do something (or if they did it again), or if something broke unexpectedly, I'd say that someone taunted it.
I say "Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball" at least once a week.
@@trusted64 That settles it. We are now lifelong friends.
They also had one for women to get rid of lower back tattoos. Basically it was just acid. "Is it burning? That's how you know its working"
Turlington’s
Why is the "Bassomatic" ad with Ackroyd not on here? That was the original one! and one of the best!
I don't think it was pre-recorded, but it is the best regardless.
Probably because they put a fish in a blender and certain super-soft parts of today's society would become traumatized if they viewed it.
@@PsychoThirteen The snowflake crowd wouldn't even click on SNL though.
@@brianbenoit6883 prolly right.
@@mrsocko316 Correct, this video covers pre-taped bits only.
Where's Autumn's Eve? Alexa for seniors? Justin Bieber for Calvin Klein jeans?
OHHHdessa! Alexa Silver was one of the funniest fucking things I’ve ever seen
Imagine: two football widows developing a deep bond that can never be broken.
What about Old Glory's Robot Insurance? "For when the metal ones come for you- and they will!"
Yes! Sam Waterston is amazing in that bit
That should have been in the top 5.
My favorite!...and seemingly prophetic! LOL!
Original cast: supporting your local marijuana growers and the other commercial was an additive you add to your gas tank to make your car exhaust smell like roses. Great commercial with Gilda’s foot on the gas pedal and Jane Curtain’s face at the exhaust pipe. Use to love the way you’d be watching SNL and a commercial would come on the screen and it took a while to find out if it was real or fake. Miss the original cast members
I always wanted the „My Little Stepchildren“ dolls.
(„Mommy? Where’s the drama in that? I want to be a stepmother!“)
With birth certificates, a locked drawer and an engagement ring.
(„I got your daddy wrapped around my finger.“)
Pixar was inspired by Mom Jeans for every mom bod design they've animated...
I can't believe Dan Akroyd's "Bag of Glass" sketch didn't make the list. Granted it wasn't a commercial per se. But a product non the less. In fact you didn't even his hit the original cast's season at all.
Or the Bass-o-Matic.
These can't beat MadTV's Spishak
I remember the Mach 20 razor.
Colon Blow was a parody of Total cereal commercials. where they said "it would take 8 bowls of your cereal to match the fiber in one bowl of Total" or whatever number which they would show with 8 bowls stacked up.
Where’s the “Heroin AM” with Julia Louis-Dreyfus commercial? Also the “E-Meth” commercial with Jesse Pinkman?
I think they also forgot about "EYCH" the toilet death ejector and "Oops I crapped my pants".
No puppy uppers and doggie downers? That was totally hilarious.
I remember them making fun of men's razors for continuing to add blades to their razors. It was the Mack 3 turbo they poked fun at, and eventually depicted a razor with 13 blades for the closest and most unbearable shave a man can get.
Schmits Gay with the original Van Halen music !
Now joined by Bud Lite.
Schmitts Gay is a Classic
🥉
It was way better when it aired using the Van Halen song beautiful girls. It could only be used once with paying copyright fees.
What about the Lincoln Towncar circumcision ad? Parady of Grey Poupon
Actually, it was a parody of the Ford Granada and the ability of a jeweler to cut a diamond in the backseat over cobblestone streets...
Little Chocolate Donuts, Hibernol, Lung Brush, Adobe, Shirt In A Can, Ass Don’t Smell, Hedly & Wyche British Toothpaste, Homocil, Swill - this list needs to be at least doubled
Phil Hartman's "Colon Blow" is absolute comedy gold 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
No Doggie Downers and no Puppy Uppers? Probably Milkbones company didn’t like the use of their boxes in the skit.
Kind of a shame the oversized office supply ad with Beck Bennett isn't there. It's comedy gold.
Yeah that one is classic.
I kinda wanted to buy some of those oversized office supply stuff lol
No snl sketch has made me laugh harder
I can’t remember which season it was but I’m pretty sure it was the original cast. There was an ad for a telephone company where the couple you assume are grandparents helping their grandson call his parents turn out to be kidnappers calling for a ransom. Now that’s classic SNL
Gawd, someone else remembers that! 😄 That was so well executed and HILARIOUS! I've tried to find it here on YT but no luck.
I don't know how you cannot include the Bass-omatic, Jewess Jeans, Quarry cereal, or the Royal Delux II car commercial. I guess maybe because they all aired before the births of the people who came up with this list.
Also "Swill" with Bill Murray.
The best SNL fake commercial was one they did with the original 1970s cast. It was a closeup of a bottle of pills with a voiceover explaining how this is the world's best arthritis medicine and the whole time the announcer is describing the product they show a pair of hands of a person with arthritis who cannot open the bottle due to its childproof cap.
Missing Bass-O-Matic and Oops I Crapped My Pants. Get it together WM.
John Belushi's little chocolate donuts, The Breakfast of Champions, should have been on this list
One of the first times I saw SNL was at a family gathering in 1975. I said "This is a good show. check it out" Then Dan Ackroyd did the fake ad for the "Super-Bass-O-Matic '76".
We had never seen a fake ad before and my aunt's & uncles thought it was a real ad.
Why is WatchMojo re-posting videos that weren't that old to begin with?
The fact that the Bassomatic add was overlooked in inexcusable. Way better than several you included.
The colon blowout cereal with all the bowls was parodying a similar ad that said "it would take 4 bowls of such and such to equal one bowl"
“Colon Blo” was not an out-of-the-blue idea - was a direct parody of a then actual “high fiber cereal” TV commercial that asked “how many bowls of yours would it take to equal…”
The Classic Little Chocolate Doughnuts
If it counts the Super Bassamatic 76 a parody of infomercials
One sketch that I don’t know if it counts as a commercial or not is that Micheal Bublè Christmas duets. Even funnier when Bublè himself was in the sketch
I always liked Yardapault and Xanax for Gay Summer Weddings.
Where is oops I crapped my pants?
Real description on a package
"Cheese type food product"
@0:24 like how Pringles can't legally call themselves potato chips 😂
I feel lucky to grow up seeing the late, great Jan Hooks and Phil Hartman work together on SNL. RIP
I've got a print out on the shelf above my desk of the dialog from the "Happy Fun Ball" skit. I printed it in 2001.
""Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball."
Still one of the best from SNL.
Mr. Bill sells power tools: "OH NOOoooo...'
The white castle one was probably the funniest to me. The one with the rock and his robot creation
I don’t think I’ve ever laughed harder than the Grimaldi Classic Creations-Crying Baby Jesus Nativity Scene commercial.
SNL made me want to try a Taco Town taco. 😂
I never knew they'd parody the teen demographic with 'Disney Channel acting school'
One of my favorites was Pedro Pascal’s Wing Pit ad-so ridiculously over-the-top and the escalation of absurdity is just perfect as were the actors’ surprise at how far the ad itself was going. 😂
I love the Pantene commercial with Sophia and Kate! You should have included that
Ummmmm…. You TOTALLY missed the Starbucks Verismo ad! That one had me chuckling for days. The best part was when they introduced the new “Verquonica”, a larger non-functioning machine for Verismo to talk to about you…. Pure comedy gold!
I still have a soft spot for “Big Red”
The best is missing: MERCURY MISTRESS. (Which NBC has actively been trying to forget ever happening.) If someone posts it on UA-cam, it disappears...
These are the best part of SNL (along with Weekend Update).
Nothing from the original cast is represented, such as "Bass-o-Matic '76" "Shimmer : A Combination Floor Wax and Desert topping" "Pre-Chew Charlie's Steakhouse" "Quarry Breakfast Cereal : It's not grown, it's mined" "Little Chocolate Donuts" and "Pilson's Feed Bag Dinners" .
It was a small part of a Da Bears sketch - but I Can’t Believe It’s Not Polish Sausage never fails to crack me up
Colon Blow! Loved that one🤣 Can't believe Bass O'matic wasn't in there too.
I thought for sure the womba would have got a mention!
What? No “Bass-O-Matic”?! That should a been No. 1.
it was live to the audience, not pre-taped; but yes #1 in every way
As someone who doesn’t watch SNL, I loved this video 😂 makes me want to watch
The "Mom Jeans" one is my favorite!! 😂
Almost pizza should have been #1
-#17 forgot to point out "Wells for Boys" was-
-cut for time-
sorry, must've confused the "cut for time" part with the female equivalent "My Little Step Children"
Sending this to my friend rn she's an SNL fanatic
“Shirt in a can” and nerf crotch bat should’ve been on this list
Never followed SNL, but oddly I've seen most of these comedic ads, and I believe before UA-cam or at least before this channel existed.
Old Glory robot insurance, nerf crotch bat and new crotch missile. That's good Bass!
I like the Cologaurd one with Woody Harrelson. Blow out my box
Missed one with Gilda Radner. "Hey You" perfume, for that special someone you never expect to see again.
"But it's food, right?"
It's ALMOST food! Artificial color, artificial flavor, and several things that LOOK like food - all combined into Almost Pizza!
You missed the Meat Wagon commercial. It had people complaining to Dear Abbey and her replying as if it was an actual product ad made it that much funnier!
Corn Chip Nail Tips! Doing it right!
Swill, the drink from Lake Erie.
5 bladed razor is truly a vision of the future
Coma-doze...so you can sleep through the entire flu season.
Thank you. I thought i was the only one who remembered happy fun ball. Taco Town is my second favorite. too bad they didn't include the Philadelphia action figures commercial.
“Happy Fun Ball May stick to certain types of skin.”
I still go back and watch Almost Pizza every few months. It is never not funny.
My personal favourite is an old obscure one where the fire alarm plays the hits of the 80s instead of beeping.
My favorite is the white castle one with Dwayne Johnson. Like 99% of it is an evil scientist convention, he invented something truly evil. Horrified everyone else, then last 1% is a white castle ad.
I still quote “dissing your dog” to my spoiled mutts.
Once it got to #5, I started thinking Schmitts Gay Beer has to be #1.
I'm glad you didn't disappoint. 😛
