We enjoyed an ice walk in a canyon where the river was frozen over with our Shiba Inu. [4K]

Grotto Canyon is located about 15 minutes east of Canmore, and is famous as a field for icewalk in winter when the river is frozen.
The pictographs shown at 2:34 are said to have been painted by the Hopi people between 500 and 1300 years ago. Among the pictographs along the limestone walls of the canyon, the flute player, which is one of the more clear pictographs along the limestone wall of the canyon, is the symbol of the Hopi people and was only used by them.
The Hopi are famous for being one of the tribes living in and around the state of Arizona in the U.S. Some may wonder why there are records of them in the Canadian Rockies far to the north.
According to ancient Hopi mythology, when the Hopi originally came to North America, they traveled in four different directions. They were supposed to reunite at one common place, which is said to have been present-day Arizona. One group is said to have headed north to the land of rock and ice, and the most popular theory is that it was the Canadian Rockies.
These groups may have traveled for three centuries or even longer. They left behind a picture of a whistle blower called Kookopölö as a marker of their own travels and those of other Hopi tribes. Kokopelli, the flute player, is said to be both a symbol of fertility and a traveler.

ホピ族の説明、良くわかりました。冬は滝や川が凍るような寒さの厳しい中、ホピ族はどうやって寒さを凌いでいたんでしょうね。
そのまま壁画が残っていると言うのが素晴らしいです。素晴らしい絶景です。

川が凍ることのないところ住んでるから川の上を歩いて渓谷が見れるって不思議です。ホピ族の人達もこんな風に凍っている時に壁画を描いたのかなとか、何百年何千年前だと凍ってる期間はもっと長かったのかなとかいろいろ想像を巡らせました😊
