I love your playing. I love who you are as a human being. Please don't call yourself stupid. Your not, I promise. My son does the same thing and I hate it. Say you forget stuff, I have a hard time remembering things. I do and it drives my wife crazy but I'm not stupid. By beautiful boy has struggles with things, but he is not stupid and I hate when he calls himself stupid or dumb, because he is not. Don't put that negativity on yourself. You are really amazing and there are thousands of people watching you and loving what you do to back that up. Even if there weren't, you would still be amazing just because of who you are.

I bought a Boss Katana 50W after watching your videos for a year or so and it was the best purchase I think I've ever made. Funnily enough, it was to replace my first amp, also a Peavey Rage 158! Good move on the Plexi - you know you can never have too many of them :-) . Looks like the very thought of talking amps brought out the guitar god (or is that beast ?) in you. That Oswald sure took a beating - but that was what Nick made it for lol. The loss of pristine finish is our gain when you produce intro jams of that quality . Let's hope Orange supercharge the 120 :-) .

Nice one Dave regarding the 'immense-ness' of your (now) 212 Orange and Marshall cabs. It appears that you've accidently stumbled across the work of Kevin O'Connor and his theory of Detuned Cabinets. Very interesting reading for the guitar nerd, so much so that I built my own Detuned Cabinet once and it sounded huge also. Basically, by removing half of the speakers and leaving the holes open, you're getting the bassy sound from the back of the speakers coming out the front of the cab. Enjoy!!

I understand your love for the MG... I guess.... It's been the first amp which gave you the "Yessss" feeling, so it's like your first love.
Now, I could easily afford myself a JCM 800 or a Vox AC30, but it won't be the same as with my first (and still main) serious gig amp, my VS 100. It would feel like betrayal cause it has been with me for so many years and never let me down, always more than ready to do the job. I know exactly how it reacts, what to do and what not. I think being attached to a guitar is one thing, but to an amp is really something special...just my two cents.

I was for many years a hungry and starving artist, a fresco painter and portrait painter. I ended up earning my living after age 36 as a mechanical engineer. Recently at age 69 I and my wife purchased our first home-after so many years-we did it! Well, I have my art and music studio in my living room-because that's how I roll! No more basement concert hall for me!
Today I am moving amps around to make room for when I get my Marshall JTM45. I'm using my Fender Hot Rod DeVille 410 III as a 8 ohm 410 cab each speaker is 30 watts so it's a 120 watt cab. It sits on top of two stacked Marshal's the DSL40C and a DSL40CST. I have those 16 ohm speakers connected so they are another 8 ohm load. Total load is 4 ohms or two x 8 ohms cabs for my amp heads. I am very happy.
I also have a P.A. System and a complete Ludwig drum kit and an electric piano and a Synthesiser and an acoustic combo voice/acoustic guitar amp. and a couple of 15 watt amps and a 300 watt peavey Solid State P.A./head. A flute and an Alto Sax are here too! Imam never bored.
I also fun a couple of my Solid State combo amps at 8 ohms through either the 410 or the 212 section of my stack. The Hot Rod DeVille can run at 4 ohms so it alone can power the internal 410 8 ohm cab and the 212 8 ohm cab. I have a redundancy of amps able to go through the stack. It's good enough for me. I can run my Vox AC15C1VB at 16 or 8 ohms so I can use either half of my stack. I also have a 4 ohm 212 with some old Jenson C12Q 8 ohm speakers and several 8 ohm Bass cabs.
I can get a lot of different tones and still have space so you can see the living room floor. But all the walls are covered with art/cabs and amps and guitars. I am gloriously happy. I also have an older fender frontman 212R and it's a very good amp-sounds a lot like my reissue Fender '59 bassman LTD. I have 4 smaller transistor amps and 4 smaller tube amps both cab's and heads.
Lastly in my living room I keep all my "World String Instruments" 5 violins (one is a Baroque violin), viola, cello, upright bass, GuQuin, Oud, Rabab, Sarangi, Sarod, Veena and Sitar, Erhu and two banjo's. Two western 6 string guitars and my first guitar a Spanish Nylon 6 string.
I'm playing on something every day and for years. I have the Marshall MG50CFX and two Marshall Code amps the 50 112 and 100 watt 212. Many different guitars from Tele, Strat, Jazz box, semi hollowbody and solid bodies. Three Ampeg bass amps and two cabs. I play a lot and do not think of fame or fortune, only fun. Soon very soon I shall once again experience the Marshall JTM45.
    -Peter age 70

Hi Dave.,mate. Lovely opening jam - AGAIN.That ''weird-synth'' vibe reared it's head again at 5:23??? A very proud owner of an amazing collection of amps,is happening here! I've got an ol' 2x12 Organ/Bass/Guitar "Londoner'' amp with H&H speakers in it & a CRAZY reverb!!! The guy that sold it to me said it is ex-Wilko Johnson????? Any info is gratefully received... Keep it up Dave,m'man. :) X p.s. I was wondering if you have checked-out Chis Bucks Friday Fretworks stuff?

Dave, if you could only have one amp, and on a budget, what would it be? From what I've seen most people recommend a Boss Katana 50 if you just play at home and if you're on a budget because it sound very good and has all the effects you need. I'm still a beginner and have a crappy little 50$ amp that has maybe 1 good tone so I'm looking for something versatile on a budget. Great video as always. Much love Dave :)

Katana is a definite. It does it all.

Got a 50 katana. And you can run with your android. Just gotta buy a couple cables. All the guitar patches you'll need. Like $9 cnd for app. Anyway yes amp kicks ass.

The Harley Benton Tube 15 (Monoprice 15 watt) has two EL84s ,not 6V6 ,(and 3 ECC83 for preamplification) i find it closer to the Marshall's sound than the Fender's one ,it should sound somewhere between your Fender Pro Junior and the Blues Junior ,but it might as well knock them out , there is some videos here on UA-cam of some painfull shootouts for Fender ,the Blues Junior vs the Tube 15 ...
I'm not a connoisseur but i find the Blackstar amps very good and better than the Marshalls ,with the same kind of sound ,i guess that you don't like Blackstars ; anyway you are equipped ....
The engineers at Blackstar come from Marshall's .... Personally l like the 6V6 sound a lot , perfect for a Strat , now that depends on the tastes of course ....Thanks for the video Dave , that is why i asked you to make a video of the Fender Blues Junior vs the Harley Benton Tube 15 while you were in France at your friends , because here on youtube it's a 650e amp litteraly KOed by a 240e one ...
The El84s are maybe more versatile by the way ,they can sound as well with any pick ups , the 6V6 are more for the single coils niche ,including P90's ....
