Does not work on EU models, as they have cable throttle while US models have drive by wire :/

you are right, but for example Mazda 5 diesel is drive by wire in EU too, only gas they have cable throttle, for them you can use universal cruise control kit and use control panel from diesel type at streering wheel

@@michalveverka5031 Yea but the universal one is expensive af, takes lots of work and heavy technical skills. I wouldn't recommend that, especially to an old car. I have a mazda 3 Gasoline 2003/2004 EU, also cable throttle, and I personally wouldn't do it. But if you wanna do an upgrade to this car, i rather put a new radio head unit in, and new woovers in the doors, maybe a subwoover? I have those installed. Also my small 1-din head unit supports a rear view camera. And those things are totally do-able for a non-mechanic but still tech savvy nerd like me. And i'm very happy with those upgrades :D

This does work, listen to him carefully, make sure you have a 4 pin brake switch and if you have different model cruise control, then you need to ground the white wire. Thanks for the video, worked like a charm.

I did the same steps with my 2007 Mazda and it works! My core motive was to replace my clock spring to fix an airbag warning light issue. Pulled a clock spring and the whole steering wheel from a 2008 Mazda 5 at Picknpull. Cost me about $50CAD. Now my airbag’s fixed and I have cruise control. I had a terrible time getting the blue brake switch out and I’m not sure exactly why. I went so far as to tear off the little tabs on the one I was replacing, which didn’t help anything. I think maybe what I was doing wrong was I was pushing the break pedal out of the way. I guess if you just leave it, all’s well and it comes out with little effort. Happy cruising!

Really great video with lots of tips and explanation of considerations.

You guys need to check first if your Mazda 3 has electronic throttle before trying to save yourself time and money. There are two ways: Look at your gas pedal and see if there is a harness going to the pedal. If not, then you can't do this mod. that means you have a mechanical throttle. Another way is looking at the engine. An engine with an electronic throttle should NOT have a cable going to the throttle.

Fantastic video! I've been wondering how simple this mod would be, if at all possible. I've checked our Mazda 3 and it definitely has 4 wires coming off the back of the brake switch, and the throttle is not cable connected. I've managed to source a full steering wheel control part - my question though, is it difficult to swap out those plastic shrouds on the steering wheel? Do they screw in or clip or something? Thanks!

My music controls are working fine even after the change, but cruise isn't working. I have noticed there is another steering wheel switch version with a single earth as well. Should I be trying that as well? Or should I try and see earthing a different wire in the new switch?
