This is one of the few masterclasses where attention is paid to every note and movement, every sound of a piece. Excellent, highly educational, accessible, and overall great.

There is so much advise and wisdom in this that you have to watch it like 10 times to get it all, if you can. Pretty intense. I love it and appreciate that you made this available to the public. Thank you!

Bach was clearly a romantic spirit. The emotional range and passionate intensity of his music prefigures everything that happened in the 19th century.

Oh! it's so wonderful and kindness Bach Adagio lecture it is. I would feel Music is the World in rhythming Time which is dominated with Tempo. so might be difficult to play the interaction with long note and short note. I would feel in case of this Adagio, the correlation between quarter note and 16note that should construct the beauty of Adagio. especially timing of how to decompose 4 chord(string), low tow tone before the bar or on the first beat, grace note which we must catch in the split second, many dotted note here and there, counting every beat in a bar within 8 beat, should be counted in 8 beat at all. we had better feel not only the accuracy counting in 8 beat, Mr. Koelman is asking always, but also how to express the "Agony" Yeah! that's the order of J.S.Bach's, defer to his wishes. anyway breaking chord Bowing technique is veryvery difficult. such as timing spoil the touch of Agony feeling. much more, I hear it is very difficult to teach agogyk to student. that's my own opinion and strange English. I hear "Beethoven said Tempo is Music" (91yrs.Japanese)

    Excellent playing, great advice.
The rhythmic pulse tended to be too rubato for Bach.
