I first saw the runner series at a PlayStation kiosk at Walmart and played runner 2.
I immediately loved it and picked the game up. I never thought a random game I saw at Walmart would end up being one of my favorites
i found the 2nd game on the wii u eshop once and boy i was hooked

I'm sure the other games are fun but I'm not a fan of the drastic change of style after the 1st game, I still like the first game better

I really wish the BIT.TRIP series got more recognition from people. Runner as well. I actually personally think BIT.TRIP Runner 3 is a step down as well as a step up from the 2nd game, my favorite one in the series (i hate the first one). The drastic change in musical style and comedy and artstyle is something I feel doesn't work out as wel for me as the 2nd game did, plus there's some annoyances I have with the menus and I HATE the costumes they made for the characters, as well as the character choices in general. 'Hero quests' feel like padding and the dialogue for it is example of the change in comedic writing being worse in my eyes. The VHS Tape worlds also don't feel worthwhile, as the levels themselves are super halfbaked in level design and enemies and just feels like something I'd get in a subpar browser game. I feel like the bonus content in this game doesn't really make up for the seriously gimped campaign length, because while the levels themselves have variety the worlds don't, much less their names. And there's no cool 2D art from the 2nd game either, it's just the 3D models and that's lame too. Also, alongside the costumes, the various capes and accesories are super lame and I don't think they were needed either. You see what I mean? I feel the 3rd game is a 2 steps forward 2 steps back kinda game. I'm glad you reviewed all the games, didn't think anyone would.
The 2nd one will always be one of my favorite games in the world.

This game really needs dlc
This is actually my favorite indie's series since I loved the original Bit.Trip games from the Wii era.
Personally I always found the sequels of the Runner series as a "What if..." or "Alternative Timeline" since the 5th game: Flux, Commander Video well... anyone who played that game will get it...
But in any case I'm glad that Choice Provisions still continues with this game, even more now with the upcoming game: Runner Maker.
Runner 2 isn't really an alternate timeline though, it fits right in between the first Runner and Fate (the last level of Runner 2 is even called Flight To Fate, and that game's "Bit.Trip" world exclusively references Beat, Core, Void, and Runner because those are the only games that have happened at that point), picking up immediately after the first Runner, its ending leading directly into Fate's beginning. Runner 3 on the other hand, yeah if THAT game is supposed to take place in the normal Bit.Trip timeline then it makes no sense because it doesn't match up with anything, not even Runner 2.

After Runner 2, the running series kind of lost its Charm. They should go back to 2D 3D games with a new series of games
I think Runner 3 was a good step forward to the more wacky nature they clearly wanted the game to have, but it's probably the last one that should be made. Not sure what convinced them to do a Bubsy Runner spinoff, though.

Is it bad that I've had "Bit Trip Runner" on my Wii for over 4 years and can't beat it--
I've always had the demo version of the game on my Wii. I loved the game's music and its style and wanted to beat it so badly. So... i bought it on steam and after a few weeks of playing i beat the game! If you really want to dedicate yourself to it, im sure you can beat the game no problem :D

Runner 3 got an update recently which gives more options! It’s so much better and my switch barley flops on it!

In regards of the one on old cell phones, I don't think anyone has made it playable on a PC, so don't see that happening. Same goes for the iOS version. I can only see that happening if I get a really old iPod Touch or iPhone, jailbreak it, find a means of capturing it straight out of that iPhone, as well as a site that has it for download, since I'm pretty sure it got delisted years ago.
